This is not the same restaurant it used to be. I took my family there expecting that it would be High Street on Hudson, as advertised. I get that things changed over the past couple of years and I'm glad to see they "made it", but use the same name when the menu plainly says Sandbar on Hudson and is a surf and turf joint was tough to swallow.
The clam chowder was amazing with plenty of whole clams and lots of fresh veggies.
Wonderful dinner at High Street on Hudson. My gem lettuce salad, branzino and lemon cake were all delicious - and my server Lorenzo was terrific. The prices were also most reasonable, especially for the neighborhood. One of the best casual dining spots in the West Village.
Very very bad food. Total waste of money. Servers are super super slow.
Arrived an hour before our rez. They seated us promptly. Didn't flinch when we asked for a different table from the one suggested. Limited menu, but I've always believed that there is excellence to be had in allowing the kitchen to focus their talents on preparing fewer dishes particularly well. We were not disappointed. Kudos!!!
I thought I was making a reservation at High Street on Hudson which I remembered to be quite good, and when we got there we saw that it was now called Sandbar so first disappointment. But we never even got to eat so can’t say much. We made a standard reservation, thought it was for inside but when we arrived we were told it was for whatever was available. We were offered seats at the “chefs” counter which was a joke. We only got water in the 15 minutes or so we sat there so sensing it would not be a good experience we left and went elsewhere. Now that I read the other reviews I’m glad we did. I don’t think anyone noticed we left.
Didn’t enjoy the experience there. Service and food is mediocre.
Awesome brunch spot!!
Food was not very good, potatoes were under-cooked, service was lacking.
Odd combination of great food, good location, and a front-of-house staff that doesn't seem to want to be there or for you to have a good experience. Maybe it was an off day, who knows. Preference will be to pick up/take out, not dine in.
That said, the folks who actually brought food to the table and cleared things were great. It was just the person working the door and the person waiting on tables who made it not-so-great.
This restaurant is actually no longer here, now it’s a pop up with a different menu - wish I had known before going!
Great spot on beautiful Hudson Street in the WV. Mouth watering scents emanate from the open kitchen. Soft lighting creates a cozy vibe. Attentive and accommodating service makes for a stress free and relaxing dining experience. And I can’t say enough about the guac appetizer and the seasonal cocktail I tried with pumpkin spice flavors. Delish! The halibut entree was also pretty good and different compared to most other fish fillet dishes I’ve had dining out. Overall a great experience!
Tasty cup of coffee, friendly and efficient staff, hot/house-made tortilla chips and guacamole. We'd definitely return!
Korin was awesome!
My wife and I have a lovely date night out. we dined on oysters, burrata, and Tuna tartar. my only wish is that they had heat for the outside setting. we where quite cold, but over all had a great time.
Bad experience all round. Slow service, mediocre food (for what it cost), restaurant screwed up the bill (and won't respond to my phone calls). Not going back anytime soon
The menu needs refining, it’s quite annoying to order an entree and then select a generic side. It’s far more enjoyable in an establishment of this elk and price to have an entire entree with sides that the chef deems best suited to the main fish/meat element. The service was sub par, we had to ask for new water bottles when the existing one was empty. Again just not what we expected for a bib gourmand recommended restaurant.
Great spot in the village - great food and comfy vibe, amazing for many occasions.
Excellent food at a good price. Fantastic cocktails. Friendly service
We liked the restaurant. We will dine there again.
I our table was on the street but otherwise all was fine.
Great value! Gear food, great team!
It was our college friends get together, and we had a full day planned. Therefore we needed an excellent brunch to start. The service was a bit slow but good. The food was great. I had French toast and coffee which both were great. It was a pleasant experience.
Unorganized service - mostly drinks - on a recent Fri night (15 mins for a drink). That said - food is awesome and everyone is friendly.
I had more expectations with food. I don't think this worth bib gourmand. We also wanted to have drinks between 4 and 5pm and they told us that the team were resting.
They (or the software they use) were very concerned about whether we’d show up on time; I confirmed multiple times.
Food was very good, though their menu has shrunk to accommodate outdoor dining. We ate on the Hudson St sidewalk, which was a little busy with foot traffic. Service was very attentive, food came quickly. Can’t speak to value since I was a guest of my friends.
Very friendly staff, very accomodative. Nice neighborhood place!
Really terrible. In spite of an almost empty restaurant, getting service was the job of the patron to flag down a server. We had to ask for water to be poured after 10 minutes seated. Food was uninspiring, steak requested med rare arrived well done and when left mostly uneaten on the plate, it never occurred to the server to ask why.
WOULD NOT GO BACK.
Food is totally different from previous menu AND the quality has gone way down.
We left after appetisers. Great ambiance and service but food and drinks were just not good. Guacamole HD avocado skins in and needed more salt. The jalapeños needed to be mixed in more and it needed more lime. The drinks were flat :(
Great gem near Little Island and the Highline. We sat outside and enjoyed the fall weather during lunch. The service was great and the food delicious. I had a cheese burger that was one of the best I've had in a long time. My daughter had the tuna tartar and chicken sandwich which was so good she refused to share.
I would have lunch there again anytime!
16 Bucks for 4 skewers that were consisting mostly of red Pepper instead of pulpo is definitely not ok.
Same thing for the cheeseburger, overpriced and just ok.
Also, we ate at an old plastic table, without even a paper table cloth. Zero effort to make the place a bit more pleasant.
Good for if you are still up an running after the pandemic, but you should not fool people.
Indifferent service. Wait staff had to be summoned each time, otherwise we were ignored.
We had brunch there. Omelette and french toasts were decent but not impressive enough for us to go back again. Nonetheless, the service was great. Courteous, attentive, but not disturbing.
It seems like they’re pretty half-hearted in wanting to run a restaurant. They have one tea and it’s not even actually tea (it’s jasmine tea). They have no mustard. The service is inattentive and poorly trained. The food is so-so, but priced well above that. It’s a lovely location, so hopefully a more professionally run restaurant replaces it soon.
We love this spot! We are long time fans of the Philadelphia sister restaurant Fork in Olde City and High Steet on Hudson has the same type of innnovative food, delicious and not too fancy but fancy enough. The wait staff was wonderful and kind. We took our teen grandaughters and it was cool enough for them and made us look cool too:)
Good drinks, great oysters. Food not worth the price point- especially the very sad lobster roll.
We ordered two entrees and a soda. The bill came to over $70 and I was hungry! Salmon extra small portion, with a tiny puree of asparagus. Will not be going back.
Very good food and vibes. We got several apps/sides and they were delicious. Great service as well!
