I’m sorry to be unkind but I’d hoped for better. Food was average to below average. Service bordered on desultory. Everything arrived at different times and the last entree ten minutes after the others. Our server was pleasant but his colleagues ignored us. Asked for bacon on the side for the vegetarians but it was served on the plate. Salmon eggs benedict was overcooked and dry. It was hard to get people’s attention. Coffee was bitter and awful and it took about 15 minutes for cream to arrive. The bacon was good by the way. It was hot as heck in there too. I wish I could be more eloquent and specific but overall impression was of not caring too much about things.
We were a party of 7. Our waiter verged on rude. Our entrees were all timed incorrectly and a side never came at all. The host graciously comped two entrees and a side but the waiter just seemed a bit rude and not on top of it. Overall the food was good but the service made it a less than memorable experience.
The service was pretty good - but they get busy and slow. We had food before we got our drinks, etc. Our server was cool. Food isn’t amazing but not bad at all. Honestly everything was fine but the gay club music just ruins brunch for me. Give me jazz or reggae or something and make it quiet enough that I can at least hear my friends talk.
The vibe here is casual and fun. The food leaves a bit to be desired. In particular, the steak was a particularly fatty and tough piece of meat.
Highstreet on the hudson has rebranded and completely changed their menu but has not updated any of this online. Therefore it was misleading as we had planned on going to try specific things which was not possible.
Loved it. Second time there and this time for dinner. First for brunch. Great both times.
We chose to dine at High Street on Hudson based on exceptional previous experience and to celebrate a major life milestone- my college graduation. Additionally, my husband and I were seeing my mom for the first time since 2019.
Unfortunately, this experience left A LOT to be desired. I booked an indoor reservation because neither my mom or I enjoy outdoor dining. However, when we arrived the dining room was bare of tables and chairs so we were left to sit outside. We proceeded to order dinner and I had the salmon whereas my husband and mom each ordered steak. My husbands steak was heavily over cooked (he ordered medium and received well done) and extremely fatty. Most of his steak was inedible. My moms steak likewise was far from lean though better cooked. The overall ambiance was ruined with bugs and uncomfortable temperature (hence why I requested an indoor table).
My husband and I were super excited to show off the restaurant to my mom but it was sadly a bit embarrassing. I don’t think we’ll be returning anytime soon.
Not ce outdoor table for 5 of us. Leisurely paced fully enjoyable dinner. Almost like a neighborhood type place. I’ll be back for sure.
Tacos were not good and very poor service.
being back the old chef and menu
Awful awful awful. I had a 7:30 reservation for two . Although there were three tables available, I was given the table right by the door. After asking for the table directly away from the door , I was told by the host that that table was reserved. I gave the host the benefit of a doubt and simply accepted my seat by the door. 1/2 hour past and no one sat at the table I had wanted. 45 minutes past and still no one sat there. Through out my entire hour and a half dinner I sat freezing at the table I was given while gazing at a table that I had wanted that no one was occupying. It’s a shame that such disgusting lying attitudes still exist in host and hostesses of restaurants even during these hard covid times. I have just moved to the area , and your establishment will never be supported by me, my family, my extended family that comes to visit and all my friends. Awful experience
We were served a salad that was awful. We sent it back and the restaurant was nice about giving us a different dish. Our entrees (salmon) were quite good - but then when we got our bill they charged us more for the salmon than the price listed on the menu. They fixed that after we complained but offered no apology.
Chicken sandwich and the lobster Mac was ok but the shrimp skewers, mussels and lobster was 🤩 and it was my first time ever eating mussels the sauce was soooooooo good
The food was excellent. We were sitting outside, so couldn't comment on the ambiance inside. Would return for the food alone.
Great wine, good service, cool venue. The steak was very chewy and fatty.
Really great food. Excellent atmosphere. I always love coming here!
I used to go there and I know that they were famous for bread. Little did I know that they changed it to Sandbar for the time being. Everything is served without any garnish. Basically, I ordered chicken and it was well cooked, but it was just that- plain chicken. No bread, no nothing. I guess, I should have checked before making a reservation.
Didn't realize the chef had changed, this is now just a run of the mill American restaurant as opposed to the innovative and impressive plates put up by the former chef that felt New American
Great service! veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy goooooooood service!
Food was delish. Eric our server was very knowledgeable and attentive.
Incredibly lovely outdoor space during covid. A little hut with lots of twinkly lights. No outdoor heaters though so bring extra layers if you're dining outside. Everything we ate was incredible.
The salmon with the celery root purée and basil oil was perfection. Yummy cocktails too with the bourbon spiked hot cider perfect for a cool night. Very welcoming service at the table. The restaurant should install space heaters in the cozy cabins for outdoor service.
I had made a reservation at High Street on Hudson, but when I arrived I discovered it wasn't the great spot I loved with wonderful food, terrific service, and a great chef. It was a new restaurant called Sandbar on Hudson -- a seafood restaurant. It was good but honestly, I wouldn't have booked it if I had known. So Open Table, please update your listing.
Furthermore, we had asked for an outdoor table. There were one or two that were truly "outdoor". The rest were located in little shacks that didn't feel airy or spacious. They looked confined, though they were cute -- I could never eat inside one.
Many street restaurants are now enclosing their outdoor spaces. I get it; winter is coming. But many patrons would rather eat outside, with heatlamps than inside.
Ate inside & they removed all the unusable table, so it felt spacious (and not empty). The cocktails and food was delicious, as always. Warm and friendly service is extra special during these more removed times.
We love this place. Indoors or out.
Staff were lovely; given these outdoor patio times they really did their best to create a nice sidewalk patio vibe. The draw was $1.50 oysters! By NYC village standards a great deal/draw. Tacos were scrumptious; caprese salad special had a fun twist with cilantro pesto in lieu of basil and was perfectly seasoned. And I cannot remember the last time I ordered a martini where the traditional cupola had the overflow served chilled on the side. Fantastic spot! If you have a group of six or seven they have a super cool wooden shack on the street as a funky private dining room. So cool!
This place is no longer high street - its some pop up with a completely different menu. Not really dinner, more like lunch. Kind of disappointing.
Other than the fact that we're all sitting out in the street because we have to, this really is a very fine place to go to and you should go. The sidewalk is deep so it's not crowded with people, the food is delicious and priced well. We learned this is a pop up that's actually using the space yet it is still a neighborhood establishment and we should all support it. It was very good
Outdoor dining only. Limited menu, but great options for a light bite. Oysters and gaucamole were very good.
Do not give the choice “energetic” when the decibel level of the music is annoying. That alone would make us think twice.
Let folks have conversation!
And the chicken was way too greasy.
Otherwise good food, interesting choices and comfortable seats and ambiance.
The breads are so good!
We must return for the pizza.
Long wait for good, chicken was undercooked and not very warm
Loved it! Start with the bread - it’s amazing. The Pesto pizza and the gnocchi is also wonderful. This place is just as great as the High Street in Philadelphia and that is saying something!
Always outstanding. Pasta's and Pizza. Great salads. Easy and unfussy. Fun and delicious.
Came here initially with a buddy and loved it so much i took my wife back for valentines day. Man what a bust. Food was pretty bad. Pizza and salad is always good here. Wouldnt stray away from those. Otherwise not so great. Wouldnt come back
Excellent food and service. The booth was very uncomfortable with not enough leg room.
Great everyday spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
I come in often. My favorite place in the West Village. They just got a new chef and the food has never tasted better.
Outstanding as always. Excellent foodie experience -- great service, beautiful space.
The whole experience was great. Pretty space, great food, great service.
