High George was absolutely amazing. We stayed in the hotel so it was super convenient and the food was AMAZING!!
Good service and drinks. Menu is limited
Great meal with beautiful rooftop views. I had the chicken, which was absolutely delicious.
Gorgeous place horrible drink and food menu. Probably the worst options in a restaurant I’ve been told. Best option was a rigatoni bolognese that wasn’t better the chef Boyardee. This would be the perfect spot if they actually had a menu, literally throw the whole menu away.
For the price I’d rather grab a sandwich in a local grocery store.
Great place for a special occasion! The food and cocktails are delicious. The environment is very fun!
Great food and particularly good service. We weren’t rushed and it was overall a great experience.
My partners and I enjoyed everything about it.
Great dishes, keep the lamb and chicken ... Service was still a little new and was just ok
Wonderful spot for a special meal!!
Service and food were very good. We came on a rainy evening and sat outdoor under a glass enclosure that had a drip leak near our table hitting our arm. Ambience could have been a bit better, but overall very good.
Great atmosphere, delicious drinks & food, wonderful service. Will definitely come back.
Amazing ambiance and food. The short ribs were fantastic. Can't wait to go back!
We had a most beautiful experience from beginning to end. We were greeted and seated at the perfect high top at the open window. The constant breeze and sunset were perfect. My daughter and I shared our entrees of chicken and salmon and enjoyed it very much. We will come again!
The service was amazing, very attentive and professional. The food was delicious. I recommend this restaurant for a nice date night.
Lovely location on the top of the hotel BUT too sunny even at 6 PM--no shades on the upper windows. I spent much of the meal shading my eyes during dinner to talk to the person across the table.
When I was seated (waiting for the rest of my party to get there) the waitress did not explain the Q code in the middle of the table that was the menu. After I ordered my drink, I asked for a paper copy of the menu and was first told to use my phone. I had to insist on a paper menu.
Our hamburgers were too well done (and I understand they are smash burgers) although the fries were delicious.
When we pulled into the driveway to valet parking, we were told that there was no valet parking for diners--only for guests staying. Perhaps the sign at the beginning of the driveway might have noted that.
All in all, I would not hurry back to High George.
Dining at High George was wonderful! The staff is friendly and accommodating and provided great dinner recommendations. The food was fantastic - highly recommend the short ribs and the burger. The atmosphere is also great - even on a night with poor weather and the window flaps down, the lush plants and lighting were beautiful. Great place for a special occasion!
Sadly this is the only rooftop in New Haven and it's terrible. There is no view and the drinks sucked.
Worst of all, the service is extremely snobby and rude. I made a reservation on opentable for my last weekend at Yale. My plan was to go for after dinner drinks and dessert. After I told the server that, the attitude completely changed.
We ordered two drinks and panna cotta. The panna cotta was gelatinous and disgusting so we didn't want to get more desserts.
However, I was willing to spend more money on some fancy drinks. The waiter kicked us out without even asking if we wanted another drink. That is unbelievably rude. Didn't stay more than 40 minutes and glad I didn't.
I think they were just mad that we didn't order any food. Has anyone ever heard of after dinner drinks? Usually that's how a lot of rooftops gain business, by keeping customers drinking expensive cocktails.
Any rooftop in NYC would let customers stay and order more drinks for way better views. High George needs to get off of its high horse and provide better customer service.
Food has dropped a notch in quality and we were disappointed after looking forward to a great meal. Ambience is Excellent and hoping that they improve quality of food. The rigatoni bolognese actually tasted like it came out of a can, mushroom toast was pretty good and shrimp appetizer was good.
Everything was amazing!! So impressed with the service, food (the striped bass was delightful) and ambiance. Can’t wait to go back!
The food was very good and the staff was very friendly and helpful as well as accommodating. My whole party had a good time. We just had a few guests get lost when they followed the address on the reservation. It took them to a residential area 15 minutes away. They eventually found their way but something to look at by the restaurant.
Celebrating with an overnight stay at the beautiful Blake Hotel and dinner at High George. Everything we ordered, all gluten free, was delicious and beautifully presented! Service was excellent. Recommend the short ribs, black sea bass and roasted heirloom carrot appetizer!
We had an amazing time! The cocktails were DELICIOUS. Food was just as good if not better. The service was great and we loved the vibe. I just wish we could’ve stayed longer than 90 min! 😂 We’ll be back!
It was the amazing place for having dinner, drinking, hanging out with friends
We had a lovely time at high George! Great service and wonderful food! The view and ambience was spectacular!!
Food was great, service was excellent! First time going and getting in from the hotel was not intuitive or very clear. Someone from the restaurant should stand downstairs or they should post signs. Since the restaurant is outside, they should have had an option to lower a shade so the sun doesn’t set directly in your eyes. It was hard to see! But the food and service was great. Awesome environment to hang out. A bit loud, since it is outside.
One of the best places to dine in New Haven. Great ambiance and decor. Excellent service and good food. No complaints!
Food was good, drinks very good. Downside is it was super hot and they had tarps covering the view and the windows closed. So it was super hot and there was no breeze. Most annoying, its a rooftop bar but there is no view. Basically a really hot version of any good restaurant in New Haven. Drinks and apps were on point though and service was good as well.
We got kicked out promptly at the 1:30hr limit.
This experience was not quite what we were expecting. Fist of all, I rec'd a phone call a few hours before our reservation from someone form the restaurant. She had a set of rules for us to follow including the statement that everyone on the reservation must order an entree. After many years of dining out, this is the first time this has happened. Not quite sure what the rationale behind that was. Kind of offputting though.
When we arrive at the rooftop we discovered a) that it was enclosed and b) that it was very very hot up there. There was no city view due to the fact that the windows were covered. There was also very little airflow making the experience a but challenging.
The food was fine but not quite up to to the price point that was charged. The salmon was quite good but the side of farro with vegetables was so salty it could not be eaten.
The crispy chicken was fine but, again, not quite worthy of the price. One piece was very fatty/gristly and could not be eaten.
Drinks were delicious and well prepared but nit sure we'll be back.
A friend and I were reconnecting after some time apart. We had a lovely dinner! The spring crudités was delicious. I had the stripped bass which was perfect. The cocktails were deliciously crafted!
Loved the salmon, the atmosphere and service!
great ambience and service; good food; fun drinks!
Prix fixe menu was pretty good, but not amazing. Drinks were kinda disappointing for the price. But still overall a great experience with awesome view and ambience, and really good service!
Not too many appetizer selections would have liked to see more!
One of the prettiest venues in New Haven, both in the restaurant itself and the fabulous View over the city. The table configuration is good both from a safety perspective and pleasantness. Food menu is limited but everything we had was very good, drinks delicious as well. Staff pleasant and helpful
Food was delicious, however I would of loved to see more choices on the menu.
Too loud, everything else was great
The best meal I've had since the last time I ate there six months ago. The food is phenomenal.
Great ambiance, food was not expensive and the view was phenomenal.
Great drinks - attentive staff. Loved the decor etc. Will definitely be back!
