High Cotton - Charleston Ratings and Reviews
At this price point, the worst dining experience I’ve had in at least 10 years. The she crab soup was served lukewarm. I would have sent it back, but the service was so poor I was afraid I’d never eat. My fear was well founded as it took an hour for the entrees to arrive. Finally, they’d run out of the ice cream to go with the bread pudding, so replaced it with one that clashed. And that’s only a fraction of the shortcomings...
Jennifer was our server and she was awesome. So was the Sommelier but I did not get his name. The food was great.
As a foodie, I would recommend a couple of things. The poke needs to be served in a different vessel. You could not eat it without getting it on the table and the tuna was cut to large and a lot of pieces were not cut all the way through. The plate for the bread pudding was to small as well. If you are going to serve jumbo asparagus you need to peel it . Those items stood out for someone like myself but the meal itself was still great. Thank you.
It was awesome. From the moment we walked in and they knew it was my husband’s birthday and gave us champagne and a card setting for him with a note. Our server was amazing. She was super personable and helpful. We had other people come to our table to check on everything. We saw I think the manager when we walked in and left and remembered my husband ‘s birthday. This was a great experience and we will be back for just regular dinners not for just birthday celebrations.
Had dinner here on Tuesday, January 2. The staff welcomed us very nicely. Seemed like we all had known each other for a while. Pleasant and relaxing ambiance. Seth, our waiter, was very professional, polite, personable and helpful in our selections. Our meals were served promptly and were delicious. A fun, interesting and overall excellent dining experience.
My wife and I went to High Cotton for New Years Eve dinner. We dine out often and chose this restraunt based on recommendations and we have a Halls Chophouse in Greenville we have thought about trying. Well after our experience at High Cotton, we will not be dining at either establishment.
When you spend a hundred dollars per plate, you should have both impeccable service as well as food. We had neither. My filet was way undercooked andmy wifes rissoto was half cooked. Had a waiter checked early in the meal, both could have been remedied. It wasn't until we were ready to leave that he asked how our meal was. The part that i couldnt understand was that when I told him, he could have cared less. The wait staff was so poor that I poured our first glass of wine out of a 160.00 bottle.
I advise anyone looking for a good meal to avoid this place or a fool and his money will soon be parted.
It was our first time in Charleston and we absolutely adore the ambiance of this establishment. From the moment we stepped into the bar area and waited for our table to be ready we were overwhelmed by the relaxing mood of the music, lighting and decor. The food and drinks were great and the service was perfect. We had an amazing time and we will definitely come again.
Ambiance is amazing. Beautiful location, building, and decor. Food was average. Ordered the salmon and the ribeye. Good just not great and for the price point...we were expecting something closer to great. Service was great, no hiccups there. Oh, and the bread - superb!
Manager greeted us with a genuine smile. We were visiting for our son's birthday. The manager made him a special mocktail and offered him a lovely dessert. The food...oh the food was a surprise! Fresh, clean flavors in the seafood and presentation. Delicious, and well presented. Our server was experienced and knowledgeable, and easily guided us through our choices. Well done High Cotton!
Everything I ordered was served lukewarm to cold, including a fish entry that was refrigerator cold and uncooked in the center. At each instance the server seemed unconcerned and the service dropped off and had to flag the server down to request the check. While I was offered a “refire”, I am not interested in eating at a different time than the rest of the table. I was surprised that the bill was not comped. Poor dining experience at a highly rated place, and frankly, one that ranks as one of the lowest from many around the country.
