High Cotton - Charleston Ratings and Reviews
Our waitress was outstanding-we asked that our meal be paced slowly so we could enjoy every cousre, also asked for wine pairing withh all courses. The waitress handled our night beautifully. All food was totally above par and delicous. Will return everytime I am in Charleston.
It has been several years since I dined at your restaurant. I had the Grouper and its presentation looked like some frozen food dinner. It didn't taste that well either. I had the pecan pie for desert. Nothing special and its presentation looked like a pecan pie snack you buy in a convenience store. Overall, I was very disappointed especially as to what it cost to dine in your establishment.
We did a return trip to Charleston after 2 years and made High Cotton a priority as we had enjoyed it so much the first time. We were NOT disappointed; if anything it was even better. Lots of fresh local produce incorporated into chef specials - if you have a chance try the striped bass! Ben, our server, was personable, knowledgeable, and very helpful.
Thoroughly enjoyed High Cotton! Picked several restaurants to try while in Charleston...and this was a top pick! Service was excellent (thanks Seth), presentation beautiful and food delicious! Would go again in a heart beat - and my husband and I are definitely Foodies!
Until our experience yesterday, my family and I felt that High Cotton was the best place in town for Sunday Brunch. They have a new chef, new menu, not the same great experience anymore. The crab cake and grits were a downgraded version of what we were used to, my burger was very pink in the middle even though I ordered it well done, and the kids burger were like pieces of charcoal - I mentioned to our server that they were so overcooked they couldn't eat them, expecting him to offer to take them back and replace them. He not only didn't do that but did not offer any apologies. This is a great venue with a great ambiance and service is always very good. I just think that the server yesterday handled poorly the mishaps with the food.
We've eaten here many times. This time the service was slower than normal but still overall good friendly service. The two sides we ordered were quite small compared to the two sides the other couple with us ordered. One of the sides we ordered was the butternut squash and we received yellow summer squash instead. We did not return it or even complain as we were starving! Our reservation was for 830 PM, we were seated around 0845 PM and didn't receive our meals until after 1015-1030 PM. Not the norm for sure. Food was excelled and the service was great just a bit slower than normal. Still highly recommended.
We dined at High Cotton for a birthday celebration. The restaurant came highly recommended by a friend and it was everything we expected and then some. Our server Crystal was exceptional; she as well as the other staff members who assisted her were very attentive.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, from the appetizer through dessert. The food was outstanding; we were not rushed as is the case in some restaurants and felt very relaxed.
After dinner we enjoyed listening to the trio while having an after dinner drink at the bar.
High Cotton is the best restaurant I've eaten at in Charleston and one of the best I've encountered in this area in a while.
This was not our best experience at High Cotton. I ordered the oyster and grouper Po' Boy and I got an oyster Po'Boy. When they brought me a new one with the grouper, I really was disappointed because it was mostly bread and the seafood wasn't seasoned. I wish I had ordered something else. It was hard to eat (bread was super chewy and huge, I had to cut it to take a bite) and the whole thing was really dry. The service was great. Better luck next time.
Sunday Brunch at this High Cotton was fantastic. Great server at the bar, he (forgot his name) was knowledgeable and engaging. The food exceeded our previous experience at the Greenville location and the Jazz was entertaining and not over-powering. Highly suggest a trip
Had higher expectations, from the Upstate and have dined at the Greenville location many times. For entrees priced at $30, I expect more than what we had. My grouper was just baked and some sliced zuccini thrown on top, no creativity from the chef, very plain. Same with my wife's scallops, simply cooked and sliced squash on the side, heck just like it is so easy to do at home. For same price range, meals that I have had at Husk across town indeed show the chefs talents with sauces, flavoring, etc. Meal was not bad, just very plain and not worthy of the price point.
This was our first visit to High Cotton and we were not disappointed. Delia was our server and she was spot on with her recommendations and excelled in her service. Our food was outstanding. Both the steak and the pork chop were tender, tasty, and cooked perfectly! High Cotton leap frogged other restaurants we have dined at in Charleston and may very well be our number one favorite now.
Ordered steak. Should have ordered something more Southern. It was very good, but there was nothing special about it. Friends ordered the rabbit and pork chop. I got to taste both and they special. Will try them both another time. Service was very professional, but very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
