This is our first choice among downtown Charleston restaurants. Has a nice mix of food offerings that include (our favorite) oysters, great service, pleasant ambiance. We shared fresh oysters, crab Louis salad, lobster tails over risotto. Too many great deserts to choose from and we each ordered one: the cobbler and the coconut cream pie. All delicious. Special thanks to Benjamin for his attentive service!

The food was AMAZING and so was the service. They created tastes that I never had before and the food choices are very creative. We absolutely loved this restaurant and I can’t understand how anyone else wouldn’t love it. Amazing food, great ambiance and such friendly service.

At this price point, the worst dining experience I’ve had in at least 10 years. The she crab soup was served lukewarm. I would have sent it back, but the service was so poor I was afraid I’d never eat. My fear was well founded as it took an hour for the entrees to arrive. Finally, they’d run out of the ice cream to go with the bread pudding, so replaced it with one that clashed. And that’s only a fraction of the shortcomings...

This is a local favorite. We have never been disappointed. Our wait staff were particularly personable, no mean feat given that this was a very busy day for the restaurant.

We went during Restaurant Week for the first time. We are so happy we went and can’t wait to come back. Cocktails are incredible, so is the creative menu, and food preparation and presentation. Plus, I left my glasses there, and they found them.

Fabulous ambience but terrible food. We went for brunch. The eggs Benedict was served so cold that we had to send them back. I don’t know how it is possible to ruin French toast but High Cotton found a way! The French toast was cold and tasteless. We would definitely not recommend this restaurant.

Disappointed in the service and knowledge base of the service at this level of restaurant. My wife is a celiac and this was made aware at our reservation, The time we sat down, and when the food was served. Our server did not know what the menu items contained. We ordered a meal that was gluten free and once the meal was served we immediately identified that it was not. The meal was returned and we had to ask to have the entree removed from our bill. We love some of their sister restaurants and haven’t had issues but this seemed inconsistent and was a disappointment to say the least.

High Cotton was everything we hoped and more. HC is a high-end Southern food favorite. We were in town for the marathon and choose HC for our parents to meet for the first time...it didn't disappoint. We all loved it!!!

The group started with cocktails, 2 bottles of wine for the evening, and oysters...raw & fried. Then, we moved on to the trout dip appetizer and 2 orders of the crab stuffed mushrooms...ooh la la. From there, everyone ordered She Crap soup...which is not to be missed. Share it if you must!

For the main course...some skipped (in favor of dessert), others ordered, and I got a great beet salad. Everyone was happy.

Then, the birthday cake came...yes, it was my SO's mother's birthday and HC procured a cake for us and treated us to a round of bubbly. We still ordered more desserts to share. It was a great night and we are looking forward to doing it again in a year. ;)

Service was fantastic! Food was very good. The atmosphere was very nice. We could hear the neighboring table enjoy themselves, but it wasn't loud or mood killing. I'm sure we'll be back.

Everything was very good as expected for this long established restaurant except the noise level. For a dinner with friends, conversation was difficult.

Jennifer was our server and she was awesome. So was the Sommelier but I did not get his name. The food was great.
As a foodie, I would recommend a couple of things. The poke needs to be served in a different vessel. You could not eat it without getting it on the table and the tuna was cut to large and a lot of pieces were not cut all the way through. The plate for the bread pudding was to small as well. If you are going to serve jumbo asparagus you need to peel it . Those items stood out for someone like myself but the meal itself was still great. Thank you.

It was awesome. From the moment we walked in and they knew it was my husband’s birthday and gave us champagne and a card setting for him with a note. Our server was amazing. She was super personable and helpful. We had other people come to our table to check on everything. We saw I think the manager when we walked in and left and remembered my husband ‘s birthday. This was a great experience and we will be back for just regular dinners not for just birthday celebrations.

Had dinner here on Tuesday, January 2. The staff welcomed us very nicely. Seemed like we all had known each other for a while. Pleasant and relaxing ambiance. Seth, our waiter, was very professional, polite, personable and helpful in our selections. Our meals were served promptly and were delicious. A fun, interesting and overall excellent dining experience.

There for New Years. They had a set menu. Choices were good.

Five out of six meals of were very good.My wife said her fish was terrible. Pricey
bill came to $300.00 for 2 with a $50.00 bottle of wine. Prices are better when they have a set menu.

My wife and I went to High Cotton for New Years Eve dinner. We dine out often and chose this restraunt based on recommendations and we have a Halls Chophouse in Greenville we have thought about trying. Well after our experience at High Cotton, we will not be dining at either establishment.
When you spend a hundred dollars per plate, you should have both impeccable service as well as food. We had neither. My filet was way undercooked andmy wifes rissoto was half cooked. Had a waiter checked early in the meal, both could have been remedied. It wasn't until we were ready to leave that he asked how our meal was. The part that i couldnt understand was that when I told him, he could have cared less. The wait staff was so poor that I poured our first glass of wine out of a 160.00 bottle.
I advise anyone looking for a good meal to avoid this place or a fool and his money will soon be parted.
