High Cotton - Charleston Ratings and Reviews
High Cotton never disappoints.. ambiance is excellent great music playing ( duo)... seafood tower, our waitress terrific, can’t recall her name but her Husband cooks at #5 Church... she kept us in the know on how the specific seafood was prepared, how the herb bread was prepared... just an awesome experience, High Cotton is always on our dining list !
High Cotton is my favorite restaurant in Charleston! I've lived here several years and always find myself going back time after time. The food and service are impeccable and I highly recommend you try it if you are looking for authentic Charleston upscale southern cuisine.
This is our favorite place in town. We celebrated a milestone birthday this summer with a party of ten. It was so well done, we all had a wonderful time. This weekend it was just the two of us as it often is when we are there but Sunday was especially memorable as we got engaged at the end of our brunch. Thank you for being the go place that never fails and always delivers to te highest standard.
Our waitress was amazing! She was very knowledgeable and attentive but not overwhelming. I was a little disappointed by the food preparation. We had a strawberry shortcake to start and the biscuit was dry. For our main course (brunch), we had a Benedict and one of the "poached" eggs was cooked over medium. Not something I expected based on the reviews of others.
Not the best meal we had in Charleston. The first dishes were wonderful. The fish dish my husband had was very good. The pasta dish with shellfish was mediocre at best. The scallops included were delicious, but the sauce was thick, gooey and blah - reminded me of supermarket chicken pot pie. The ambiance and service were lovely. We may try again - the pasta may have been an off-night.
Our dinner at High Cotton was fantastic !! The food was delicious, the ambience perfect and the service impeccable. We especially enjoyed talking with Jason and Brett who were so friendly and knowledgeable about Charleston. We would highly recommend High Cotton to anyone !!
I think High Cotton is overrated. The pork was pink and when we told our waiter he said this is how the chef was cooking it. Pork should not look like sushi. The lobster tails were salty and mushy. Clam appetizer was just ok. Crab salad was very good. Drinks were very good. All in all i definately don't think the food is worth the price. I wouldn't go back.
Found this restaurant on Open Table. In town for a friend’s wedding and needed a good place to eat on our own tonight. We chose wisely! Great service, excellent food and delightful ambiance. The salad portions were generous and very fresh, with light dressing. (From California & in the vegetable industry so we know a good salad!) The pork loin chop with crunchy Brussels sprouts was perfection. Shrimp and grits the best we’ve had. Vegetarian in our group had grilled portobello and raved. And OMG the beet salad was mouthwatering. But the true highlight was the excellent service!!
Sunday brunch at High Cotton is not what it used to be! Still a lovely space w/great service & soft live bluegrass music in the bar; however the lumpy grits, greasy stuffed mushrooms w/crab & eggs Benedict w/overly fried crab cakes were a huge disappointment. Fried oysters were the only food highlight.
We had a lovely dinner at High Cotton. We were seated in the back room, which was a bit noisy but we could still hear each other across the table. The oysters, shrmp and grits, and fish were great. The steaks were fine but nothing out of the ordinary. The almond cake was fabulous. 😁everyone enjoyed the evening. The coffee martini was great!
Love the atmosphere, live jazz, beautiful food presentation, attentive service, and the fact that all food was cooked perfectly. Only having the jazz musicians closer would have improved the experience. Thank you for a great evening.
We have been fans of this restaurant for years, however this time I was a little disappointed.
The service and atmosphere were excellent as always but the prices seem to be higher vs value than our last visit a couple of years ago. Four adults and two children cost was over $200. Kids split s meal and three out of the four had an entree salad.
8 oz filet was cooked to proper temperature but was the saltiest piece of steak I’ve ever had. The pasta dish for the kids was totally bland and the chicken was dry. We ended up eating most of the meals but left less than satisfied. It seems like a great menu poorly executed.
