Hieronymus Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar
The waiter was great, friendly and personable. The problem was that it is an oyster bar and they were out of oysters. They had fresh catch fish listed , but they were out of 4 of the 6 choices. Even out of some of the side dish choices. Our food was excellent, and we enjoyed what we had, but we had to keep changing our order.
Catch of the day done Carolina style was killer. Service was exceptional.
Father’s Day dinner was nothing but amazing. The wait staff was excellent
Reservation was at 7:45 but wasn’t seated until 8:30. The management wasn’t that good and didn’t help or say anything when it was taking long, didn’t give us anything for it. Server was super nice, but food was just okay. Wouldn’t go back based off of the wait even with having a reservation in advance.
Restaurant was very crowded but the waitress and staff pulled it off. Food was served in a timely manner and was hot. Food was delicious
Great food and service!! Will definitely be going back
Great food and service! Large portions. Madison was a fantastic server!
Hieronymus is my favorite seafood restaurant, and actually a favorite restaurant. The servers are always helpful, friendly, knowledgable and kind. The food is excellent and well prepared and top quality. What is NOT to LOVE???? Thank you! Thank you! Thank you to ALL the servers, chefs, cooks, cashiers, EVERYONE who works to make a dinner so wonderful and special! Thank you!
Food was fresh. Seafood was not overcooked. Would definitely recommend this restaurant
Our server was amazing and the peel and eat shrimp were great!! The steak was lacking in flavor though, which was very unfortunate.
Classically "beach town kitschy" vibe and décor. Food was decent, but nothing spectacular. Raw oyster choice of the day was so-so; the meat was not cut fully off the shell, and there was grit. Good restaurant if you're visiting and want a slightly fancier place than casual.
My husband has filet. He doesn’t’t eat seafood. I love seafood. I had scallops. They were scrumptious. My husband said his meat was cooked exactly the way he wanted.
Great food and great service from Brandon
Food was quite good. Good value and ambience was good. Service was a little disjointed but I think our server was new
Decent Seafood, but at a cost. The catch of the day Grouper was just cooked meh. The taste was good. And it was very expensive. Wanted to get some oysters but the cost was also crazy.
it is a mess. we had reservations, host was clueless. they did not know what they were doing. the daughter of the owner was clueless. host was clueless. horrible experience. do not recommend anyone never go again.
The food here is so good! Some of the best seafood I’ve ever eaten. They offer small portions on some of the dishes which is a real plus for those with smaller appetites. Fried shrimp, shrimp and grits and the fresh catch were all delicious. We also loved the grits with lobster sauce. Took two desserts to go and they were both wonderful. Our server was so helpful and did a great job. We were seated right on time and i was so glad we made a reservation with OpenTable on a busy Saturday night.
The food was only okay. For the price, it was not what we expected. We sat outside in a very welcoming covered area. There was a strong skunk-like smell coming from the parking lot behind the restaurant.
Had an amazing Mother's Day brunch at Hieronymous. Great food and service.
Excellent food and drinks! Didn't look like much from the outside but we went on a recommendation and it did not disappoint AT ALL! We'll absolutely be back and will pass along the good word!
Our server, Makayla was super kind and knowledgeable. We truly enjoyed our food, it was season very well and cooked to perfection. We will be dining here again, bringing family and friends, and telling all we know about this wonderful restaurant.
Our service by Matthew was amazing!! The food was great and the she crab soup was delightful!
Food and service great as always. Love this place since I was introduced to it a couple of years ago.
First time dining here, many fresh seafood choices daily served a variety of ways. The portions were plentiful and the fried seafood platter terrific. We will definitely return.
Four of us enjoyed dinner on Friday April 16 and each selection was perfectly prepared. We started with crab dip that was well prepared. Two of us had blackened scallops that were perfectly cooked and generous servings. My son had a small plate of calamari and shrimp and grits, and I had fried shrimp and fish which were excellent. All side dishes were delicious as well. We’ll definitely be back.
both my wife and my black seabass were way over salted ....(note to chef) other than that the service was excellent
She Crab soup very good. Pasta special so-so. Clams miniscule and only a few. Unusually rushed service this visit: appetizers, soups, salads and entrees all came out almost at the same time. Wait staff friendly but not especially proficient.....
Our cooked food was good. Blackened shrimp and scallops were good. Service was very good (thank you, Brendan).
But our steamed oysters were served uncooked and covered in dirt and mud. The kitchen hadn't washed them.
Worst meal we’ve had in Wilmington in the 1-1/2 years we’ve been here. Not only was my salmon so undercooked (raw) that I had to send it back. When it returned my sides were missing from my plate. Wait staff was friendly but inefficient. Had to ask for various items 2 and 3 times ie napkins, cocktail sauce, fork, lemon. Topped off my husband’s drink with Mountain Dew unfortunately he was drinking club soda. Won’t be beck again!
Casual and relaxed atmosphere, delicious seafood dinner and surprisingly crowded as diners left and more came in on a Friday night at 8 - and all with reservations on open table. Would have felt more comfortable, as things reopen but covid is still a concern, if there was a way to direct those leaving out a different exit from the one entrance/exit past the bar (crowded and noisy). Everyone wore masks but there was no social distancing as we checked in for our table. Service was attentive and pleasant.
Delicious she crab soup! Filet mignon done perfectly medium rare.
Brendan our server was terrific. The food was average and the price was way too high compared to the ambience, decor, and quality.
Had an amazing time overall
It was fun returning to this restaurant that we’ve been coming to for over 30 years and bringing friends to experience the wonderful food for the first time the fish and seafood Are always fresh and prepared perfectly!!!
The presentation of the plates were very well executed
we will definitely be back soon.
Great food at reasonable prices . Good service - friendly caring staff .. good social distancing and covid guidelines followed
The pecan crusted mahi mahi was very good. The lemon “flounder “ wasn’t flounder.
Food was good. The serving for the blackened scallops was 8 large scallops-very delicious, but more than I could eat. Side salad was very fresh. The baked oysters with crab and spinach and cheese were delicious; the raw oysters were good, but a little small. The fresh catch with the nut crust was delicious.
The food was disgusting. Didn’t even order entree after how poor the raw oysters were.
Food and place was fantastic.
