Immensely disappointing experience. We visited hickory to celebrate my partners birthday, and out of all the wonderful options in Mount Tamborine we chose this venue to ‘splurge’. We spent $130+ and left feeling like we had been absolutely robbed. The ribs were burnt and contained essentially zero meat. The wings were arguably worse, for a ‘large wings’ we were presented with 8 niblets. NIBLETS. The final piece of the platter was the brisket which, to their credit, was tender. but zero seasoning, zero smokey flavour (I seriously doubt a smoker was used). Not to mention, we received ONE SLICE. We ordered a $19 side of loaded fries which was abysmal. This was hands down the WORST bang for buck loaded fries I have ever seen. Maybe, MAYBE, a table spoon of meat, with half a jalapeño, tomato and sour cream. Soggy, flavourless and overpriced. This was a seriously sour experience. There are much better options and I left feeling genuinely mad and as though I had been robbed. This was meant to be a celebration for my partner yet we left mourning our time and money. The service was fine and the venue was nice but the food and more importantly, the value, was unjustifiable. Again, I seriously doubt a smoker was even used for any of these dishes.

Hickory Slow is an absolute disgrace. We went there for a dinner as a group of 4 and could not have been anymore disappointed if we tried. Firstly this restaurant is NOT an American BBQ restaurant, despite it appearing to be. The food is inedible. We ordered the following: - Cheeseburger spring rolls, average tasting and cold in the middle - Philly Cheese Steak, inedible, no cheese on it and instead of steak it had dry brisket - jalepeno poppers, 2 tiny Jalepenos split in half with a tiny bit of cheese and a small bit of prosciutto. Taste was OK but for the price it was a complete rip off. When I say tiny I mean tiny. - slow cooked pork, was mushy and watery and flavour terrible. Came out like slop on a tiny side plate and tasted boiled. Inedible - Beef cheeks - came out like sliced roast on a tiny side plate and was dry. Flavour was horrible - Pork Rack - came out cold, dry and the flavour was like a cheap BBQ sauce - Buffalo Chicken Wings - pick of the night, good flavour but almost cold when they hit the table. - Cauliflower Salad - had to send it back. The dressing tasted like off sour cream and had no other flavour - inedible - Smashed Sweet Potatos, came out like mashed potato spread on the plate with some weird flavours sprinkled over the top that were not Amercian at all and inedible - Fried Pickles - was a cucumber cut in half and deep fried. Came out greasy and the batter falling off like it had been pre cooked then reheated in oil. Inedible - BBQ Corn, the only thing on the table properly cooked and edible but only 1 available due to an apparent unavailability of corn 🌽 😑 We left the majority of the food on the table as it was mostly inedible. We did complain to the waitress who initially suggested a 50% discount which would have been the least that they could do, instead changing her mind and charging us for everything except for the cauliflower salad and 50% discount on the two inedible pork dishes. A very disappointing experience. Do not go!

First time here and was very pleasantly surprised. Nice decor, nice vibe, excellent friendly service, beautiful meat and the sides were also delicious and inventive - nice to see something different to the usual suspects. Would recommend and return.

I am never one to complain, but oh dear! We were told to go there because the meat was so fantastic. It was our anniversary and I thought, with our one night on the mountain, that it would be great. I’m so sorry to say, I’ve never eaten brisket that was so dry.. except the one time I tried my hand at it… but I digress.. the Meat platter for two was a serious disappointment.. the wings were soggy, the ribs weren’t tender, the pork was ok… the best part about the meal was the chips. We were sat at a high bar.. which was NOT what I booked and the table was approximately 30cm squared and shoved up against the bar so we were sitting right against the till area and a selection of soft drinks and beers, that my husband had to be careful not to knock over as he ate. Luckily the bar top proved useful as an extension of the table so our food would fit.. having a single and delightful waiter ( lovely young girl of Asian heritage )to serve the entire restaurant meant nobody got a second drink unless they got up and asked for one. I hope this was just an anomaly.. but we won’t be back.

Was not open despite taking our booking and credit details. Facebook was not clear when we looked it up after. The place was completely closed and only lucky another place was able to fit in our booking of 5 people last minute. So disappointing.

If I could rate it higher I would, my husband and I came on our honeymoon and everything was absolutely delicious, meat melted in our mouths, mocktails were amazing and the cheeseburger spring rolls were out of this world. A truly perfect dinner with a lovely setting, server was very nice and it was a good price for such a wonderful meal.

Must be under new management No customers although we needed to make a booking ….? Had been several times before - always busy Food was warm not hot - smaller servings not conducive to charge Ambience felt flat Service was good & she was ans helpful ans she could be, although didn’t really understand our needs or conversation. It felt like the restaurant had been sold, menu advised and then food ordered direct rather than prepared to match the target market A real shame as we loved it previously
