Our cornbread was overdone and the scallops underdone. It was a simple meal poorly executed. The venue was very cool we wish the food matched the ambiance.

From the time we walked in to the time we left, we were treated like special guests. The door was opened when we arrived and shown down the beautiful staircase to the restaurant below. Our table for 5 was set and ready for us (we had made reservations on open table). We were given a sample of a wine by glass selection before we decided on the full glass. Emily was our waitress and took great care of us! She gave us descriptions of the menu items and was very attentive to us the entire time. She didn't rush us...we were a group of 5 ladies...and she happily boxed up our leftovers. We didn't want to leave anything because it was ALL so delicious!!! Chef Dewey (Andrew Stafford) came out to our table and explained some of his dishes. You need to come try them!! His culinary skills are impressive to say the least!! The food is prepared on open coals and really neat to see. This restaurant is a hidden gem in the area and I highly recommend going sooner than later!! I have been several times now, but it was the first time for the rest of my group. They all said they want to go back. Great job Hickory....keep up the great work!!

Dinner with a party of six. Spared no expense on drinks, appetizers and dinner and in short, I would do the same thing weekly if I could afford it. Every aspect on the evening was wonderful. Ally attended to our every request, answered our questions and was spot-on on her recommendations. It was a very nice evening.

Well for starters, Brianna provided excellent service and was just a joy to be around!! Our Thanksgiving lunch was exactly as expected and what we wanted... Simple and tasty, in a fine dining atmosphere. The apple crisp dessert with ice cream just hit the spot! Special cocktail of the day was very delicious! We enjoyed the view of the vineyard through the windows of the bar/lounge area. Highly recommend a visit to Hickory 🦃🍁

Very disappointed overall… this was our second visit and the first time was nice; however, this time the food portions on everything but the steak dinner and the carrot appetizer were small and clearly overpriced. The service and the wine were good. In the Bristol, Virginia area Brooklyn Grill and Union 41 are better options.

I got the dry aged steak. It was good but for the portion, definitely not worth $65. My husbands chicken wasn’t great, according to him. The cocktail I had was great. Just didn’t feel it all added up to the cost.

I’m not a fan of an open kitchen in a fine dining restaurant. The views of the farm could have been maximized for a better experience. The food was outstanding but they were playing 80s dance music which seemed completely out of place.

Hickory is a fabulous date night experience! The oysters and scallops were superb! Heavens Corner was a perfect pairing to my dinner. Hickory definitely lived up to the hype! My husband and I look forward to our next dinner at this delightful restaurant!

The Hickory provides a wonderful dining experience with beautiful views. The staff is very professional and polite. Chef Travis is welcoming and enjoys speaking with guests. I highly recommend this amazing dining experience.

After several "hit and miss" experiences here, we recently had a better one and I wrote a review about being glad to have given this place another chance. Well, I spoke too soon. We went again, this time with a party of 6, and it a complete disaster. We each ordered a first course and a main course, and the mains took forever to come out of the kitchen. One guest was served her main 30 minutes before the rest of the mains came out! All of the dishes were deemed disappointing, ordinary, not hot enough, or lacked seasonings (besides salt), with the exception of the chicken which was declared "good but not great." Too many misses at this place, which is a shame because it has a lot going for it. It will be a long time before any of us venture back here again. If ever.

The venue is visually stunning without feeling stuffy. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. Last, but not least, the food is a creative twist on Appalachian cuisine pleasing the palate with each bite.

Our server was delightful, helpful and positive. The food was excellent. I expected a more elegant restaurant for the price of the food. The cocktails we ordered were great and the wine list was extensive!!!

We decided to give Hickory another chance after previous experiences had been hit or miss. So glad we did! Our dinner for 4 was a wonderful experience, and then lunch for 2 a few days later was also excellent. Some new dinner recipes were definite hits with our party. Every time we've dined here, the waitstaff has been superb. Looking forward to going again soon.

This is my second time to this restaurant. it is my new favorite in this part of Virginia. I think everything is pretty much perfect. The prices are very reasonable. The food is outstanding and the drinks are fantastic. The only thing I would ‘modify’ is the ambience music. You have what looks like a five star restaurant and hotel, yet in the dining room I’m listening to rap/pop music. While I do like that type of music, I don’t think it fully gives the right ‘experience’ in the setting while enjoying the food and drink in such an establishment as this. So much thought went into pretty much every detail at a place like this. In my opinion, the music should reflect the atmosphere that you are in. Rap/pop music is certainly is fine to play in the kitchen, but not the dining room.

An outstanding venue in the vineyards. The restaurant is modern with rugged touches with an open kitchen out of which came the most delicious and innovative dishes. The chef has outdone himself using fresh Farm to Fork, in season ingredients combined for mouth watering tastes and textures. This is a high class restaurant that we recommend wholeheartedly. The special corn bread comes in its own skillet; the poached pear and arugula salad is divine in its aromatic and subtle vinaigrette; the locally caught ruby trout was cooked to perfection on top of smoked Moroccan cous-cous with chickpeas and trout ore roe with potatoes and green beans cooked in a wonderful sauce that complemented the fish perfectly. The other dish was a sliced roast of pork loin with grits were a perfect combination with thin slices of radish and micro veggies in the grits. There is a very good wine list, bears and cocktails and a full bar. The menu is seasonal and changes often.

We are repeat visitors to Hickory at Nicewonder Farm & Vineyards. It’s one of our favorite destinations for date night. The elevated Appalachian menu is creative and well executed. The atmosphere is relaxing and welcoming. The servers and bartenders we’ve had have all been top-notch.

To start with, our server was absolutely on top of it, and super helpful. We got the cornbread as our appetizer and it was very good and fresh. We had the steak and the spaghetti for our entrees. The steak, being dry-aged, had a delicious crust to it and was cooked perfectly. The spaghetti seemed to have fresh, handmade pasta, and had a delicious sauce. Lastly, we had the apple slap cake for dessert, and once again it was very fresh and super tasty. Very nice atmosphere for a very nice meal!
