This was kind of disappointing for a Thanksgiving meal. My reservation was at 3:30, hardly late, but they were out of cranberry sauce, so the meal consisted of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans. The mashed potatoes and gravy were very good; the turkey and green beans were fine, and the dressing was dry and disappointing--I took it home and added a bit of sausage and butter to it, much better. There was no bread or roll available. The pumpkin pie tasted as usual, but was a tiny, tiny slice. Service was very good and thoughtful, but the meal definitely needs more work for a major food-based holiday!
It was a great location for a casual pub experience. Highly recommend if you are looking for a relaxed location in downtown Raleigh
Went here for brunch because I read that this was one of the best brunches in Raleigh… except that their menu does not match anything in the article or the pictures on their website. The brunch menu was small. The food was lukewarm and bland. Would never eat here again for any meal.
Food was sub par, service was sub par
It was wonderful
Great outside seating, and nice selection of cocktails and beer. Wine list is as would be expected. Food was very mediocre.
Made a reservation, had to wait 20 minutes for a waitress to speak to us and she told us they were out of the majority of their menu items. I really wish we had been told this prior to having to wait for so long.
We sat at the rooftop bar and loved it!
All staff was pleasant and inviting. Very helpful with suggestions of entrée. The music was very festive. Oh yeah, and the food was delicious as well!
Food took a while but it was good! Had the club sandwich
We chose Hibernian for our Father’s Day brunch after seeing them advertise “Sunday brunch” on their Instagram account. Unfortunately, this meal fell far short of our expectations.
Their “brunch” menu was 2 items long, one of which was already sold out for the day even though our reservation was 30 minutes after they opened. If this was the only hiccup, it could have easily been overlooked, however it was not.
In addition to half of their brunch menu being sold out, about 1/3 of their regular menu was ALSO sold out. We attempted to order 3 different appetizers-- none were unavailable. 2 of the 3 entrees ordered by our party were also unavailable, one person ended up with only a side garden salad (which was topped with bacon, even though that was not an ingredient listed on the menu…not exactly a “garden” ingredient the vegetarian was expecting).
While our server was apologetic during the meal, the situation did not seem to really phase the staff— drinks were incredibly slow to arrive (3 beers ordered at the same time each arrived to the table 5 minutes apart), and the wrong drinks were brought to the table on two occasions. All in all, if food is something that’s important to you at a “brunch”, I would not recommend Hibernian. Especially if you don’t have 2.5 hours to waste waiting for a meal that wasn’t anywhere close to your first choice.
It was our first time and we loved it. We will definitely visit again
Gloria, our server, was as sweet & nice as she was efficient. The prices were quite reasonable for both food & drinks. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her fish sandwich, and, while my shepherd’s pie was tasty, I’m not used to it swimming in gravy. We put the excess gravy to good use w/ my wife’s fries.
The hot fudge brownie for dessert was totally sinful!
My husband and I brought some friends here and we had a great time. Other than some items being out of stock, lack of plant-based options, and the area around the table being dirty, everything was great. It’s a pretty cool place in a great location.
Wonderful brunch menu; the seating on roof top was amazing!!
Our burgers were raw and my mashed potatoes were ice cold. Like they had just come out of the refrigerator. It wasn’t a pleasant experience.
The food was great the black bean burger was the best I’ve had in a while. The wings were amazing as well as the salmon sandwich. The indigo drink was not the best I think the sparkling water was a no but the other drinks I had were amazing! The rooftop is the best place to sit by the way.
I would like to say that everything went great , however, they decided to not even honor our reservation on open table. When we got there for our reservation the host rudely dismissed us and told us they were not accepting those reservations. So much for technology
OpenTable was great!! We had to wait another 30min after reservation time Due to poor staffing. Food was Limited for an Irish pub near St. Patrick’s Day. service was excellent!
Shepherds Pie was delish. Good Irish Coffee. Love the pub atmos.
We had a great brunch! The burger was a hit and we can't wait to come back for the full Irish breakfast when COVID is over. Thanks!
Godd selection of Irish dishes. The corn beef sandwich was awsome
Outside patio has heaters and wonderfully large wooden tables. Irish coffee is a must. Great ambiance overall.
Excellent service and very attentive staff made our experience great. Apps and food were good. Only drawback is they still let people smoke outside while others are eating. I thought that went away a couple decades ago.
Rooftop was excellent, not too crowded, the help was masked.
My wife and I chose The Hibernian for our date night. From the kind gentleman greeting us at the door, to the friendly staff greeting us as we traversed through the restaurant to our table. Cant say enough about our waitress, Fiona, shes a doll! Very friendly, attentive and the Irish accent, loved her! Great food!! We will be back soon. Kudos to all !!!!!!
We had a party of 7 and we had the best time. Great service and food and drinks!
A little louder than I had hoped, but the food was very good, and the wait staff was great!
Overall I was disappointed with my first time to Hibernian. I had a 745pm reservation and we got sat at a high top table off to the side in the darkest room possible. It was cold and drafty and uncomfortable. The service was not great just OK. The appetizers we ordered were probably the better of any food we had. Calamari had good flavor and was hot but a little chewy no big whoop. We also ordered the shrimp appetizer... that was actually very tasty and came out hot. Our dinners however were Disappointing. I ordered the bangers and mash... she ordered the fish and chips (cod). My bangers (sausage) and mashed potatoes were hardly warm with warmish gravy poured on. Had very little flavor too. Her cod fish and chips could have been good had the fish been hot. Her fries were hot out of the fryer but that’s it. Fish was just thrown onto the plate. Also we ordered a brownie sundae. The ice cream was good... but the focus of a brownie sundae should be the brownie. Let me say it was horrible. Lastly this is an “Irish” pub and restaurant. The music they played was was 80’s/90’s hits or something.... I would expect better music or even would have enjoyed authentic Irish style music. After an experience like this on our first visit... I will likely never return again.
Had a good time
The service, ambiance, and prices were all great, but the food was not great. I think this restaurant has so much potential to be good. The food all tasted like it lacked any seasoning at all.
My husband and I went for a last minute Valentine’s Day dinner, this was only the second time we’d been out since having our first child. It was perfect! The special menu was great, the prime rib was delicious and dessert was wonderful. Definitely well worth the price for the quality and quantity of food we got, not to mention our waitress who was very personable and charming. Highly recommend this place whether it is for a casual Friday night or a special evening
Great Irish pub food and beer.
So food was good, however not as good as in UK.
I ordered glass of wine , and I had lipstick on the glass, that wasn't cool.
also when I made my reservation I asked for warm table... when we arrived the host give the table opposite the patio door
Our experience was really lovely eating dinner at the Hibernian Pub. However, we sat upstairs and the doors were open to the patio which made it very cold while trying to enjoy dinner, that was the only downside.
I can't think of one thing that was good during our New Year's Eve Dinner.
We had a reservation for 3 at 730, apparently when we arrived there was some confusion with where we would sit, the table assigned to us had t-shirts and beers on it. We waited about 10 minutes while the hosts discussed where we would sit and went back and forth to check the status of tables. We were taken upstairs which was a problem due to my husbands recent stroke, but we managed. The bar height table we could not do because the stools do not have backs and there is a balancing issue. This table was next to an open patio area and it was 47 degrees outside. I told the host, he said we could have the booth across when that couple was done, which they vacated within a few minutes, but we were left to stand nearby and wait. We sat at the booth which was also nearby the open patio area. You might want to reconsider this during dinner hours.
When we were finally seated, the server asked for our drink orders. My husband who has a severe speech delay ordered a Dr. Pepper and the server LAUGHED!!!!!! It took every bit of self control that I and my son could muster up to not only stay there but not respond. What an immature young man you have representing your company.
We ordered an appetizer, The Classic Nachos, the toppings on the side There was no chili on the chips, so we paid $10 for chips and cheese. We weren't provided appetizer plates, so we all ate off the plate. Not cool. We placed our order for entrees which we selected off the special menu, the meat was prepared incorrectly, so we took it home and put it on the grill the next day. AND the Oreo pie my husband was served had A SINGLE STRAND OF HAIR in the whipped cream.
This experience was was one of the worst ever dining experiences that we have had since moving to this area. It's a shame because we looked at the menu and thought it all said we would have to come back and try other things, until the nightmare started
Jeff, our server was fabulous! The booth were we sat was very cozy and comfortable! The Thanksgiving dinner was awesome!!! Being from Miami & visiting Raleigh for the holiday I felt the restaurant offered exactly what we wanted for dinner. We really enjoyed our visit to this restaurant very much.
The second floor has a nice view of the area. The large fire place is a nice touch.
Nice place in down town Raleigh. Wonderful old decorating features and a friendly place. Staff was a bit frantic for Thanksgiving, but the meal was very good. Turkey and all the sides - very good and filling.
Very enjoyable, food was excellent!
