Hi-Life Pot Pie
traditional recipe with chicken and a pinch of curry powder
Great place! Large menu so sometimes I am wary of too many different styles but this place did it all!!! Very affordable!!
Always dependable from the time you have a cocktail at the bar (and the bartender remembers your drink) to sitting at a table in the glassed in porch. Service is friendly and food dependable. Love the nachos as a starter and then you can't go wrong with the sushi (yes, sushi), rosemary chicken, burger, Cobb salad. Love this place.
Always a good neighborhood spot! Love the sushi, always hit the spot!
Great service, drinks, and food. Neighborhood gem.
Great atmosphere good food great service
great food and atmosphere, menu was awesome, options for everyone!
Great spot. Excellent service, food was outstanding and reasonably priced. A total winner..I will be back.
we went for family brunch and there was something for everyone- even the picky eater! Sausage and bacon delicious and perfectly cooked. Only issue was husband's eggs being too cooked on his eggs Benedict- not enough yolk coming out as liquid. We also had to go inside in search of the check after we'd been sitting there a while. But we know everyone is short staffed right now. All in, a great meal.
An original. Great neighborhood spot.
Always great food and service. The peppermint cosmo was a nice treat!
My wife and I walked in on a blustery December evening and found the cozy, old-school atmosphere perfect. Great initial impression enhanced by perfectly prepared classic Manhattans (not just the Millennials recipe of chilled bourbon in a cocktail glass). Note this was the first non-Asian restaurant in NYC to have a separate, dedicated sushi bar. So, no slouches when it comes to general attention and care. With a truly eclectic menu available (Thai, Sushi, Burgers, etc) I ordered a very unfortunate steak. While closing in on $30 and described as a “14 oz. grilled NY shell steak” and ordered medium-rare, it was, similar to a thin (1/4”+/-) slice of over-cooked eye-round (e.g. tough) about ¾ the size of a slice of Pepperidge Farm White Bread. Sides were fine, but I should have sent the piece of meat back (which I’m not in the habit of). Didn’t try other items on the menu but I assume they’re likely fine judging from the fact that the cocktails were handled with care and meat is one area where restaurants can cut corners.
Excellent service and delicious food.
My friend and I had the blood Orange Margarita that was delicious! The Guacamole was yummy & the salmon special was cooked perfectly.
We love this place! Meals are with fresh ingredients and of superior quality. Martinis are the best deal in town (you get a side car of the overage). Servers are on top of things and as pleasant as they get.
Cozy neighborhood joint that is consistently good
Great for friends and Families
Best cocktails in the city!
We just had drinks and appetizers, but the outdoor seating is truly outdoors/open with good heaters, the service was attentive and friendly and the appetizers were good. Some of the food I saw delivered to other tables looked very good as well. I plan to go back.
Always great food and service
My friend and I were disappointed. She asked for well done fries and onions, but nothing was well done. Staff was friendly when she sent the fries back. Staff also ensured our outdoor table was warm, selected one for us with a good heater and turning it up on a cold day. They checked back frequently, which was both friendly and a little annoying. The food was so bland. And we had no salt and pepper at the table.
Perfectly pleasant brunch place. We stuck to basics (omelets, scrambled eggs), so didn't really test the kitchen -- ergo 4 stars -- but there were plenty of other choices and everything was fine .
While we were in a tent and had a heater, a couple of us found it a bit disconcerting to have the bus pass us in a regular basis so probably if there had been a choice we would have preferred to be on the sidewalk rather than in the street. Food was good and service ok so not a lot of complaints! Good for groups!
Lovely waitress , great varied menu .
Outdoor seating with heat lamp made us very comfortable! Happy hour for drinks appreciated.
Mediocre food. We sat on the avenue outside. Noting special
Very cool place
Highlife is a great choice for dinner with friends. Relaxed atmosphere, easy to talk ( we were on a glassed in porch so lower noise than in the main area, nice people serving, kid friendly. The food is consistenly good.
Been going to Hi Life for years (25+)and still like going here.
good neighborhood choice for a casual meal
reasonable noise level
Hi Life doesn't disappoint. Our favorite server, Christine, is back and we are so happy to see her. The Manhattan's are delicious as are the Martini's. Sushi was very good. Other diners had pork chops, bratwurst platter and chicken pot pie...all reported the food was super good!!
Loved eating here. The place has a cool vibe and the BEST music. Also food was really good and great staff.
Hi-Life is a neighborhood treasure... a favorite for years, but adapting now the ever changing world of COVID by pioneering safe outdoor dining, separating tables and now checking for vaccines. The food is always eclectic and unlike many local places that have raised their prices outrageously, continues to be a great value. They honor reservations and it's terrific for all occasions...
Never a disappointment.
The best bar/restaurant on the upper west side. It's a warm and friendly place with good eats and fine booze.
One of our favorites!
Good Sunday brunch outside and with a reservation . Very pleased. Been here for years.
The food and service was great. It was nice because we had little kids and they had high chairs, crayons and a kids’ menu.
Fantastic dinner at Hi-Life on a busy Saturday evening. I found this gem on a whim through Open Table! Our family dined outside and despite the noise of the cars buzzing by(it's NYC), what a relaxing experience we had. The food was fantastic -- chicken fajitas and chicken pot pie were great. Taylor our server never missed a beat and was the absolute best! Bonus, the beer was cold and the wine was wonderful. This little gem will be one place we will return to soon.
Great service. Nice menu with a lot of choices. Friendly servers.
Great place. Have been multiple times. Friendly. Good food . I sit outside and have never felt rushed to leave.
Ordinary at best. Burgers okay, skirt steak not rare as ordered.
Great neighborhood restaurant. Been around since 1991.
Great location, service. Glad they have shiner bock.
