Food was delicious! Love the new menu change and price point! We will be back for sure!
I had such high hopes for this cute little restaurant, but the food was awful. I got a Dutch baby, it took almost 40 minutes to get it and it was a mess. My husband had their “signature” eggs Benedict, but they were out of ham so he opted for crab. The food was cold, I don’t mean cool, I mean fresh from the fridge cold. Cold hollandaise sauce is awful. The potato’s were also fridge fresh and undercooked. The waitress was lovely and we just felt bad for her.
The steak was good but a bit of gristle in there. The wine was excellent however the Focaccia was more like some thick healthy bread than real focaccia which is a big change from earlier times we’ve eaten there. For what you pay seems like you should get delicious focaccia. The trout was great and potato sides perfectly done.
The steak was terrible and contained a lot of fat. Never going back there again.
Great service, reasonably priced, and well rounded menu still limited enough for quality preparation and taste. Looking forward to our time there!
Hey Jack is an amazing restaurant in downtown Camas. The restaurant is warm and inviting. Our server Cora was very passionate about food and wine, and took great care of us on Valentines Day. The food was cooked to perfection. Can’t wait to go back for Sunday Brunch. Would highly recommend this place.
We went to this place the day before Valentines as my husband and I were both busy the next evening. There were only 3 tables taken and, when I asked if we could sit at a table by the window, she asked if we had requested one when we made reservations. We said "no" and we're seated at a table by the bathroom. We assumed the window table was for 4 and they were saving it for a bigger party. When the next couple walked in, however, she gave the window table to them. She asked if that table was OK, so we knew they hadn't requested one. I don't know why she didn't offer us the table.
Otherwise, the food was delicious. I had the steelhead and could have had twice the amount. Cooked to perfection! My husband had a steak and enjoyed that as well. Not a big wine selection, but the Walla Walla Syrah was bold and yummy!
Fresh ingredients make for a limited menu, but that’s okay if everything is good! Nice to be able to eat local with some flair.
From start to finish Hey Jack provided a wonderful experience for my father and I for Saturday night dinner.
After a warm greeting, we were sat at one of the tables towards the street (recommended if you have a smaller party), and we were quickly attended to for initial drinks.
The owner took his time to swing by and chat with us about his latest selection of wine from his vendor (At the time they were the only restaurant that sourced this wine outside downtown PDX), and about how that wine would go with different meal choices (Sorry I forgot the name!)
The dishes they cooked brought the fresh sourced ingredients to life. I went with crab topped salmon and my dad ordered a hearty salad (sliced fresh beets!) The attention to detail made the dishes as good to look at as they were flavorful.
Finished with an almond crusted bread cake with coffee.
Highly recommended for an upscale yet comfortable experience at a place that cares deeply about their craft.
Thank you, we'll be back!
We had had brunch at Hey Jack and it was excellent so we wanted to try dinner. Big mistake. From the soup not being warm enough to the awful cut of meat that the steak was, we left hungry. The waitress was good in taking the steak off our bill, but with only 4 entree selections, you would hope that they would all be excellent. While we won't go back for dinner, we will go for another brunch.
A nice dinner out with friends.
First time at Hey, Jack and we’ll definitely be back! Good food and great service.
It was pleasant, a nice size, friendly service - and absolutely delicious food, wine, and beer. We will definitely go back.
This was our first visit to Hey Jack but it certainly won't be our last. As befits the small, intimate space, the menu is small, but the dishes display a creative use of seasonally varying locally sourced ingredients and are presented with refined, yet understated, plate appeal. We began with the special, a sweet potato bisque topped with jumbo (and I mean JUMBO) shrimp and scallop which was excellent. My husband had the salmon with scallops and crab, while I had the Asian inspired black cod which was wonderfully moist and flavorful. Our server was cheerful, helpful, and speedy (without rushing us). This welcome addition to Camas can compete with the best that Portland has to offer.
Second time at Hey Jack and both times fabulous. Looking forward to seeing what the chef has on the menu next time I visit!
My daughter and I had a wonderful brunch—Dutch Babies! We enjoyed the dining room’s natural light, and the service was wonderful. Our waitress went above and beyond to make our dining experience special.
Well worth the drive in from Portland for relaxed, unpretentious and attentive service, thoughtfully prepared local cuisine.
Thought our food and service was exceptional! We will definitely will come back.
We went for brunch this time. Off the charts quality & value plus great service to boot. Thanks again!!!
We had a party of four for Prime Rib and everything was perfect including the sides. This was a holiday gathering to really be able to visit and enjoy company in a small group. Hey, Jacks fit the bill and our meals and food are always so consistent.
I enjoyed our anniversary meal. There were delicious meal options as well as sides. We got the creamed Brussels to augment out meals and we're thoroughly pleased!
Great location and the food was amazing!
Such a delicious meal with beautiful ambiance and impeccable service!!
One of our go to dinner places in downtown Camas. Last week I had what is now my absolute favorite salad....kale, squash, apple, blue cheese, pomegranate vinaigrette.....with a side of that delicious foccacia and a glass of bubbly....delish! We also recently made it in for a Sunday brunch with family where the addition of mimosas made it extra special. Looking forward to trying one of the prime rib dinners soon too. We love the wine recommendations and appreciate the top notch customer service and food and presentation!
We came in on prime rib night, but didn't realize beforehand that it meant ONLY prime rib. So we had prime rib! They were out of several of the sides, so our choices beyond the steak were limited. What we had was delicious, though. I had a red by the glass that was really tasty, and my husband had their housemade rootbeer, which was great. Lovely ambience, very friendly place.
We went to Hey Jack for a birthday dinner, and we really enjoyed their Sunday Prime Rib Supper. The prime rib was tender and flavorful. We also enjoyed the side dishes of creamy polenta, creamed brussels with bacon and Yorkshire pudding. We have a two year old, and they had a high chair waiting for him at our table which was a nice touch. The one minor drawback was that it took a little while to get our check... There were only two folks tending to the restaurant full of guests. It’s a smaller venue, so having two people to man the front isn’t unreasonable I suppose.
Food and service were excellent. The staff was very helpful and extremely welcoming. This a gem and worth the drive to Camas.
The restaurant is small, so when it's full, the noise level makes conversation difficult. I've been once before for drinks and both times there has been a downtown event, so the ideal location means it's a very busy place. I did the "3 for $30 Thursday" menu, and while nothing was bad, it wasn't a standout. I had pasta with seafood and it just didn't suit my taste, but the table next to us thought it was the best pasta they had ever eaten. The menu is limited but artfully prepared. We love downtown Camas and I just wish I loved this restaurant as much.
We are hopelessly in love with this fantastic addition to the downtown Camas food scene. We have dined for lunch, brunch, dinner, Sunday prime rib supper... every single dish has been delicious. Don & all the staff make you feel welcome and appreciated. Highly recommend!
We were a bit surprised that on Sunday evening they were only serving on entree, the prime rib (to be fair, it was amazing). We were a bit disappointed at first, but when the food and side dishes arrived, there was enough variety and great quality food to enjoy we ended up loving it. Highly recommend
The BEST retardant I have ever been to! The food, the ambiance and the service was perfect. I highly recommend Hey Jack
6 ladies met for Thursday 3 for $30 dinner. Perfect combos, choice of 2 entrees and an optional add on of 2 large scallops. So good! We had a fabulous time with great service by Sonia.
Great New Restaurant in Camas. Great simple menu and food was really great!
Loved the food, wine & service. We went on a Sunday night and didn't realize it was a Sunday supper night with just prime rib on the menu, but it all worked out and was delicious. A nice, cozy little spot for our mama's night out. Would love to go back and try their brunch or dinner with a full menu.
This is a great addition to the downtown Camas area. Came with friends that recommended it and spoke highly of the Michelin stared chef and owner. Camas needs upscale dining and this is a good start.
We had heard good things about Hey Jack and decided to try it out. We arrived for our reservation at a busy time on a Friday evening but were seated promptly. The service was very quick, professional, and friendly. I started with the harvest salad and my wife had the persimmon salad. Both salads were excellent -- good flavors, variety of textures and colors, and many different ingredients. We both had the scallops for the main course. The presentation was beautiful and the scallops were perfectly cooked. My only complaint was that the whole dish needed some salt. The roasted cauliflower and the risotto cakes in particular didn't have much seasoning, if any. Even my wife, who almost never salts food, agreed. There was no salt on the table. I'm sure we will go again but I won't be as shy about requesting salt next time.
Sorry I waited so long to try it. What a great dining experience. Service was fantastic, love the small menu, with just enough variety to please everyone. Every dish was flavorful, unique, and memorable. Will definitely be returning.
This great new bistro in Camas was a fantastic find. Extensive local and inter-continental wine list complement the menu - the steak was prepared perfectly, and my wife’s scallops were delicious.. paired with a local WA Pinot noir.. check it out; you will be delighted.
Fantastic experience and GREAT staff. Really enjoyed the evening with good friends and food was amazing!
Hey Jack is very good, but nothing about it seemed exceptional. Great roasted beet salad, OK in-house cocktail, excellent scallops, OK risotto, fine squash puree as a side. Nothing exceptional, particularly in the little details that really make a restaurant stand out as an exceptional place to go.
I'd been hoping for some exceptional food, and instead it's pretty good food with decent service. That said, I'd go back, but it's not a destination restaurant.
Very odd that they choose to use lovely, fancy tables -- that have large, natural-but-inconvenient holes in them where the tree didn't grow. Dropped a knife once because it just fell down the hole in the table.
