    This was our first visit to Hewat's on recommendation. It was really let down by I'm sorry to say the staff who were hopeless. There was no inter-action, they had a problem being flexible and mixing menus. Deserts came at different times. Bill really slow then had to go to the desk to pay. General lack of attention. Also atmos was like being in a front room - needed some background music. I normally tip well, but a 10% service charge was added to the bill and I wouldn't have left this had I the choice as the service just didn't justify it. Very disappointing.

    Menu was varied which was great as we had a mix of food tastes in our group!! Service was very attentive and with a smile!! Enjoyed our evening so much that we cancelled a booking we had at another city restaurant for our sons graduation dinner next week!! My wife and I can't wait to get back!!!

    first time in Hewats and it wont be the last.Food was as good as anything you can get from anywhere in Edinburgh and at a lot lest cost

    We went to Hewat's in Edinburgh on Monday. What a find. A really nice dining area combined with some of the best restaurant food I have tasted. I couldn't believe the bill at the end - it was such good value. I had scallops to start which were cooked to perfection and my partner had the wild mushroom soup. To follow I had the wild boar which was melt in the mouth and my partner had the fillet steak. The desserts were equally great. I'll definitely be back and would highly recommend.
