Herringbone – La Jolla

The pecan sticky buns and churros were great starters to round out my lobster roll and salad. The food, service, and ambiance combined are reasons to book your next reservation here.
Beautiful restaurant. Carpaccio was outstanding!
A bit pricey but I was already expecting that from visiting there sister restaurant Searsucker. The food was amazing! Our waiter gave us recommendations and they were all fantastic. I loved the music from the band that was playing up front. Would definitely come back for another special occasion.
Everything, from the food, to the drinks, to the service, was amazing. The oysters were very fresh and the salmon was cooked perfectly. The decor is very cool too.
Very nice! Thank you Cory!
This is literally the best restaurant in all of San Diego County.
Went on Valentine's Day and there was a special menu. Everything was great.
Only issue is the 3% service fee. A flat rate fee would sit better for me
Great dining experience!!
Great service! Great food! Live music and bottomless mimosas!!!
Outstanding food, cocktails, service. Everything we ordered was fantastic. Highly recommend this amazing restaurant!
The decor is industrial with a mix of farm, American charm. Of course there were many undersea creatures as well. Trees inside, throughout the dining room. The restaurant itself is worth going there for lunch or dinner. Menu was good, typical twists on traditional breakfast. But omg the lobster roll. Crazy delish. And the side of fries was quite large. 3 adults were able to share it. Great drinks too. Great service. Will come back
Everything was overall pretty good. Some of the items on the menu were not available at the time of opening. Hostesses not very friendly. Difficult access for high chair.
Adjust your food costs to accommodate your surcharge. Absolutely ridiculous to impose a surcharge on a party of 2 people.
One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time!! Worth every penny
I love this place...the ambience is excellent, especially at night with all the lighting. My family was here from Illinois and Iowa and were blown away. Great service, food and we loved those 'trees'.
Noise level typical of these types of restaurants which is so disappointing!
Haven’t been here in a while, MAN, food is amazing! I had the squash salad & shrimp ceviche that were their specials. Delicious!
And always love to try sorbets and theirs was outstanding!
Herringbone offered a beautiful relaxing ambience with delicious food and good service. It was a pleasure sipping Rose under a live oak tree near a blazing fire and enjoying delicious fish tacos.
Lobster roll was delish! Nice place for a business lunch, not too loud. Great ambiance!
Good service. Not a particularly interesting menu. $42 for a few bits of Tuna and an emulsion is a little high in price. The $9 dollar salad was OK. Wines are equally nice - and equally priced a bit too high. A 2015 Foxen Pinot Noir for over $70 / bottle was a bit much. Nice wine. That nice? Probably not.
Ambience is clever - but the noise level with a live singer on a Thursday night was way too loud. It made conversation in the far reaches of the dining room difficult.
It's La Jolla. The rents and staff cost are high. Second visit there - there will not be a third. It's nice - but I don't see the value.
Great food, excellent service, beautiful ambiance!
I love Brian Malarkey restaurants and Herringbone is just beautiful inside. Cool vibe interesting food. This could have been a bad night, it was our 3rd visit. For some reason we were seated in the back corner with no one in the restaurant and a month earlier reservation. The appetizers were awful, they had some strange branzino ceviche that was very fishy and not good. Our main dishes were ok, nothing spectacular and of course expensive. Service was slow and our waitress was not helpful, not certain what was going on. I would recommend for the atmosphere and for the crab cake - it is excellent. Go for a drink and app but skip the main course.
Cute place and loved the scenery! Went for brunch with a group of 15. Great food and good service.
Somewhat of a family reunion. Introduced a newly found Aunt from a DNA test to my childhood friends.
Wonderful gem in La Jolla Village!! Great parking
and restaurant for lunch where one can actually hear one another! The service & food were excellent!!!!
The food! It was heavenly. I had the salad with prosciutto and Pears. Husband had the scallops. Both were absolutely delicious. Noise level is on the high end as others have noted. Service people were very busy but the service level was good. We will return for more!
We had the best table in the house, the only reason why i gave it a 4 star and not a 5 it’s because their food is alright.
For people that are not foodies, their food is amazing.
The pasta was undercooked, not al dente, it was chewy and sticky. Taste was good except that it was swimming in butter. The ceviche was ok but i guess that’s as good as it gets unless one travels to Peru or to a Peruvian restaurant.
I liked the wine the most
Food was tasteless (curried couscous salad had no curry flavor!) and greasy (our shrimp appetizer was swimming in oil and also lacking in flavor.) My husband's Paloma cocktail was according to him "the worst I've ever had". Our guest asked about what was included in his shrimp entre and not told it included pasta so he ordered french fries. Our other guest's flatbread was also greasy and soggy. Uck. If I could give this minus two stars I would!!! I will NEVER eat there again.
Great food, good service, but a bit too noisy. Nice ambiance, sort of a modern-comfort feel. Fair value.
Everything was great!!
We ate here 01/26/19. This is a beautiful restaurant with some really unique interior design including trees inside with lights around the trunk and limbs which gives an otherworldly look. We did not try the plates, which are the main entrees but had salads and several small plates. The food was good, crab cake was good and the carrots (an "add on" ) were excellent. The fact breads are actually pizzas, not the typical flatbreads you might find elsewhere and was a bit more than we wanted. The wine list is good but all the alcohol is expensive. They do have "half pours" (3oz ), which allows you to taste various wines. Our waiter was efficient but not at all friendly; we thought maybe he was having a bad day. The real issue for us was the noise level. We literally could not hold a conversation. Admittedly, the table next to us was very loud but the dining room has high ceilings and the collective noise just reverberates. Very much a hipster place; not very enjoyable for anyone over 40 who wants to have a quiet dinner.
Underwhelming in comparison to a year ago. Waiter was distracted and marginal. Mussels and flatbread very good but they should be-- not very complicated. 3 percent surcharge is absurd.
Wonderful service enhanced the well made food served in a great room.
Good food nice atmosphere
All 3 people at the table Ordered the salmon Benedict and each one came to the table and tasted like the plates had been sitting out for a while before being brought to the table.
The roasted potatoes tasted stale and cold like they had been previously frozen and left over from an old batch made earlier in the day. I never leave restaurant reviews but for the price and La Jolla location I would have expected better food quality
Food and service was exceptional. The ambiance was pleasant and the decor is unusual. Servers went out of their way to make certain were pleased with to meal. Will definitely return again soon.
Pretty loud but food and service is pretty good!
This was our second time here on a Sunday for brunch. Very nice atmosphere and good food. My husband loves the oyster selection. Will come back again.
Went here to celebrate a birthday and it was wonderful- atmosphere, live music and of course the food and beverages were amazing
