Service was wonderful.
Food was nothing exceptional.
Very cool place to have dinner in La Jolla. The setting is spectacular, the waiters really nice and great food. I definitely recommend the fried calamari and burrata salad amongst starters and excellent lobster roll as an entrée. The place is perfect both for a romántic evening or fun with friends!
The food is extremely overpriced for what you get. My lobster roll was a bread roll. I paid 150 for 1 lobster roll, two drinks and A side of veggies. Never will I ever be ripped off like that again. Get a clue. Your pricing is beyond reasonable. Thanks for ripping me off. I hope it was worth losing me for life and others I’m sure.
Good was outstanding. Service not so much. Assuming this is related to staffing shortages everywhere. The food made up for the staffing struggles
Was a really great experience with wonderful food and great staff. The lava cake is amazing.
Excellent food and services with a true happy hour ...
All night happy hour was so yummy! Cesar salad, calamari and pepperoni pizza! Plus drinks. Such a fun atmosphere and vibe! Can’t wait to go back!
Birthday celebration for sister. Jesse was our server and was fabulous. Food amazing. Great celebration
Absolutely the worst experience! While the food ended up being good, the service was horrendous!! Waited forever for everything, no communication from the waiter (Donne) and no follow up at any point through dinner!!
We were seated and waited for 20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged we were there.
The service got worse from there!! At the end of the night we finally got our check … he put the bill down on the table without a word
Such a crazy experience; hard for service to be this bad
We love the atmosphere at Herringbone and couldn’t pass up on $1 oysters!
Food was great, service was great! Oysters, poke tacos, and salads were awesome.
Highly recommended! Despite the halibut main course being a bit dry and overcooked, everything else we ate was amazing! Gorgeous decor and lovely staff!
Our table was ready and waiting when we arrived. Our waiter was very attentive and kind. We had a delicious lunch. The seafood tower was amazing and the wine he suggested was a perfect choice.
Horrible experience at this restaurant. Not only was the food just about average, but the service was awful. The manager, Max, was the most incompetent manager of any restaurant I’ve even been to. Totally unwilling to validate a Rewards certificate from OpenTable. Ended up charging my credit card twice. After talking to him he had the nerve to be so disrespectful to my partner and I who were just visiting La Jolla for the weekend. Clearly he thought we weren’t patrons worthy of this restaurant. I am appalled by the treatment we received. He should be terminated from his job. As a VIP OpenTable customer I sincerely wish I could give this restaurant zero stars.
I requested to sit by the trees in the ambience of the restaurant, however the host did not honor this requests made during the reservation process. we were sat outside which is in the parking lot/street. There was no good vibe and the food was unimpressive. Our server was great and the cocktails were good. If I were to go back I would just sit in the bar, it looked fun, I wish we would have been allowed to sit there!
Great service! And delicious food and cocktails!
Wonderful service, food and ambiance!
The calamari was the best I’ve ever had and the almost burger was also well prepared. However the halibut was over cooked and the steak wasn’t prepared well either.
Place has gone downhill significantly. Food was incredibly salty, hard to eat. Service was non-existent. Lots of better places to go in La Jolla.
Made a reservation outdoors and there was no outdoor heating, and the furniture kinda felt grotty. We asked if they had blankets but they didn’t. It was kind of a disappointment considering Herringbone is part of the Hakkasan group. Our party ordered the calamari, grilled octopus, lobster roll, halibut and steak. The food was pretty good, except for the New York strip, which was blah. Overall, we’ve been to better restaurants.
Great restaurant, loved in Las Vegas in the past .Happy to see you open !
We had a wonderful family dinner at Herringbone for my husband’s birthday. The suggestions from our waiter were delicious and the service was excellent. The 4 stars rather than 5 stars is for a couple of reasons. First, I booked reservations for outdoor seating, but never having been to the restaurant, I thought the beautiful patio pictures were the outdoor seating. No. The outdoor seating is tables set up in the parking lot. They have done their best to make the asphalt and sidewalk inviting, but it is still a sidewalk and parking spaces. Not their fault, but I was disappointed. The second reason for a lower star was they ran out of the lava cake for dessert and we were all looking forward to sharing a couple of pieces. On the bright side, our waiter acknowledged my husbands b day with a cocktail and some ice cream, and he was very attentive to our needs. Would definitely go back and would get the reservation right next time!
Phenomenal service and great drinks and yummy food. Would absolutely return. Could be a beautiful venue for weddings.
Make better food, bad food plating.
Flavor profiles for the dishes lack taste and it’s all very basic and overpriced
The halibut is dry, the chicken dish has way too much sauce. The carrot side dish sauce/ fat to cook is not render enough. It was tasteless. The asparagus were alright. Drinks are basic and could be better serve.
Great time and food. Service was great! We will be going back.
Went for happy hour; of wines served, no chardonnay which was a little odd but they probably are pouring the least expensive. They should offer crackers or something; they finally brought a little bread but it was stale. There is a good outdoor space for safety.
Great ambience excellent service. Food is very good. For the price I would expect a better menu.
Excellent service with exceptional food
The girl at the checkin counter looked dazed and disorganized. Bogdan was an excellent waiter.. attentive and professional. Repeat customer !!
We really enjoyed our dinner at Herringbone. Very cool modern California setting. Loved the seafood tower and especially the ceviche. Specialty drinks were good and creative. Didn’t love the margherita pizza but we are from NJ where pizza is tough to beat.
Great ambiance! Oysters and drinks during Happy Hours were tasty and good deal. Servers were super helpful and incredibly friendly!
Everything was great until it took half an hour to get our dessert (lava cake) because “the kitchen got backed up with a larger party”. Server did not offer to comp dessert or coffees while we waited. Octopus was cooked to perfection, lobster roll was good.
We visited Herringbone for our anniversary. The food was amazing and the ambiance was just perfect. If you are a fan of seafood, you’ll live this place! I’d recommend sitting indoors to experience the atmosphere.
“Z” was/is a professional and personable server.
Regarding the cuisine, the California halibut was excellent.
Our visit there could not have been better. Food, service..........everything!
Overall it was very good. Our only issue was that one of five desserts were completely sold out and they were sold out of some ingredients necessary for another.
We really enjoyed our raw bar items. I think the value was good for what we received. The ahi tacos were delicious and so was the red snapper fish and chips. The $48 NY strip was well cooked, but it was tough and inconsistent in texture, not what you would expect from such an expensive cut. They were out of the filet. Was glad they were able to move us to an inside table. Although the photos online were slightly misleading. The online photos had more lights and it looked more whimsical than it was in person. The ambiance was still nice, though.
I feel like we mostly paid for the ambiance than anything. The food: Vegan burger was good, just your typical impossible patty on a bun with a few toppings. The 14oz steak was cooked great but a bit overpriced for what it was — just a steak with a small caramelized onion, herb butter and a small side of greens. The lobster roll had more of a lobster salad taste to it. Clams were really good as well as the calamari! It was a pretty restaurant but I don’t necessarily think we will be back, the price of the food wasn’t necessarily worth it for us.
Place was perfect. Happy hour was amazing and probably the most interesting menu in the area compare to others. Favorite place by far for dinner.
Food was great although only one fish main course? Problem was the lousy outdoor table set up, most of them on the road and no charm whatsover. Ours was along the outside wall at least, but it was not cleaned when we were shown to it, then we noticed a thick white film on the metal chairs and once again had to hunt down someone to clean it.
Really not up to par for this place, at this price. I wont ever eat outside again, as service wasnt great either.
