Always an excellent experience.
Your host was extremely rude and marked me as a no show
The place is awesome but the food was a little cold. We tried the cookies for dessert and they were delicious
We have been a big fan of Herringbone. This most recent visit was not a good experience. It was Saturday night, and we thought it’d be a nice way to end Thanksgiving weekend. Once seated, we began talking about the menu, when we were interrupted by, “What kind of water would y’all like tonight?” Don’t get me wrong, we all know the value of staying hydrated, but let us finish our sentences!
When I asked him to avoid interrupting again, he looked as if I had gravely insulted him. That is service?
One other annoyance - we order “The Skiff” - a seafood sampler. It had 5 small crab claws, 5 oysters, 5 jumbo shrimp, and two half-lemons - BUT IT COST $60! Four dollars per item?! Very disappointing.
I’ve recommended Herringbone and its affiliated restaurants to many - I won’t make that mistake again.
Our table for 5 was located in the corner. Half our party had the view of the corner entry to the kitchen. Loveliest of venues and we sat in the corner.
The quality of the meal was very poor and the taste of both of our meals was bland. I paid over $100 for meals that I wouldn’t be happy purchasing for $10.
Lovely, courteous waiters and delicious food!
I think it is quite a bit over priced. so, if you dont mind about $$$, go for it.
My drink (old fashioned) was quite good. I split the buffalo octopus and although a fairly small portion, it was quite tasty. Unfortunately, the night peaked early. For my main dish, I ordered the bass. The waitress offered (prior to taking my order) that the fish portions were 6-7oz. However, it would be a stretch to call that 4 oz. And unfortunately, the rest of the plate was as under seasoned as the bass. I had high hopes for the place and did enjoy the ambiance. But the food is why I came and would consider returning, and that was a miss.
Ok food. Not a lot of value. Small portions, mediocre quality of food/cooking. Service was great
Fabulous happy hour. Got the Brussels, Fritto Misto and a few other apps and it was plenty. Always a must stop for me in LaJolla.
Beautiful setting, amazing food, and great service! Had a wonderful time.
Appetizers were awesome, waiter was helpful and friendly, took about 30 minutes to get a drink 41 dollar bass had no flavor.
Amazing food, drinks were okay, but overall it was a great experience
Amazing experience ....as always, the whole fish, the crab rice, the steak, the prosciutto & fig flat bread....and the milk and cookies
Oh, and the service was amazing!
The staff was a little overwhelmed- we had to keep asking for drinks and water. The food was good. Have been there many of times.
We had the pleasure to try this La Jolla location for Happy Hour. The service and food was equally good as the ones in Waikiki. We had the oysters on the Half shell and were very impressed on how the East Coast
Oysters (PEI salty) were as well served and fresh as the West Coasts ones (creamier and sweeter). Also, you must have the Fried Brussels sprouts, they are so tasty!
Love this place, great food, service and decor. Highly recommend.
We went for an anniversary dinner. Food was fabulous, waitress was friendly, but only after a long delay for the food to come (and someone elses food being put on our table) we flagged her down and were told that there "were new people in the kitchen" as the reason for the wait. Assuming the reason was true, a simple heads up to the situation would have reduced our disappointment with the experience.
The ambiance is great. The menu is very very conventional and very expensive . The tuna carpaccio was so spicy that all my mouth was burning even ten minutes after I finished the dish...
The restaurant looks good, the food is ok but nothing exceptional and at that price it is not a good choice
The singer is amazing! Food is good but a little expensive.
This was my first time going to brunch at Herringbone. Unfortunately the service was extremely slow and it took 2 hours just for the food to come out after we ordered. I really like the food and atmosphere of the restaurant but the service could be improved.
Last evening at La Jolla and a perfect dinner with a starter of a dozen oysters. Fish was well grilled. Live music from Bar was a little bit too loud hearable in the restaurant.
Best place for a romantic dinner
The service person couldn’t stop complaining about her children, which I understand but venting to a customer is not the right venue. Not sure how to accommodate that when trying to enjoy a night out.
Thoroughly enjoyed our return visit, always a lovely meal.
The ambiance is fabulous with twinkle lights scattered around in both the bar and main dining room. The service was also excellent - our server Miles was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I did not enjoy the whole red snapper entree, however. It was deep fried a little too long, with too crispy of an outside, and was hard to eat with all the bones. The flesh was good, though a little bland. It was served atop a sauce that we couldn’t figure out. Unremarkable, overall, but a large portion to share. We had a prosciutto and pear salad that was good. All in all, the ambiance made the experience good, and I would give it another try.
Always have a great time when we come here! Food is consistent and delicious. Also I have celiac and they are very accommodating with gluten free!
Amazing atmosphere. The food was honestly a little disappointing - pretty mediocre. The brussel sprouts were great. The tuna tartare was the only thing we had that was just not good.
A wonderful meal! One of the best.
Food was a letdown. Service and ambiance are good.
Very impressive aesthetics and atmosphere inside of the restaurant. The food was great and service was excellent
Service was very rushed
Sea Bass for $41 very small
We went to herringbone in La Jolla for lunch for my husbands birthday and food wasn’t what I was expecting, I ordered a lobster roll, and honestly y didn’t enjoy their version of a lobster roll, no dressing nor seasoning, just a tiny roll, the rosemary potatoes it came with where vey dry, the ceviche was under seasoned, good presentation though and my kids really liked the flatbread.
Not impressed not satisfied with my experience, also very slow service.
Service and food were excellent. We loved the space and open-air feel to the space.
Had a great time there. The service was great and do was the food. We will definitely be back again
We always enjoy coming to this place. We tried the upsidedown cake for dessert... definitely NOT for sharing.... won't even be enough for your "teacup" size dog...Yes it was TIIIIIIINY! not really anything to write home about and woudn't even mind the $12 price tag but come on!!! the "scoop" of ice cream would all melt in ONE minute because it's that TINY of a scoop! We ended up walking to Haagen daz a couple of blocks away for some REAL dessert!!!
Great accommodations for a group 12 deep. Would go again:)
It’s fine. Good. Not awesome. Expensive
From NJ, visiting our son. We eat here every time we come out. Love the ambiance and the food.
Wonderful spot great dinner and decor
