   Outstanding food, superbly presented. Welcoming, knowledgeable staff. Great chefs. The prices are quite high now but probably reflect the quality of the experience, however, our visits may be less frequent in future as all other household costs will mean that the "little luxuries" will become unaffordable.

   This restaurant provides a superbly creative 'taster-type' menu. The menu is delightful, amd the food nothing short of excellent. The service is very knowledgeable, friendly, and responsive. The ambience is very good. Space is a bit cramped, and noise levels therefore quite high. Overall, however, this is one of the finest restaurants anywhere on the Isle of Wight.

   The taster menu was a Christmas gift for myself and my husband, it was a lovely experience trying new food and wine pairings. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and hospitality. Highly recommend.

   A fabulous evening starting with pre-dinner drinks in the bar next door. The hosts remembered my citrus allergy and checked the ingredients of a canape with me before serving. The tasting menu, devised by Michel Roux, was everything I could have hoped for, with a lovely touch of an autographed menu for every guest. I will definitely visit again, to see what the regular menu is like!

   Absolutely outstanding. No other restaurant like this on the island . We are lucky to have Alex on the island . Such a talented chef . The food was amazing and with a great team behind him the whole experience made our special night .

    Excellent food, beautiful presentation, tantalizing flavours and textures. Attentive and welcoming staff and chefs very knowledgeable and helpful. The blind tasting menu with wines to match is good value - particularly with the discount voucher I used on this occasion. Heron is a real asset in the town offering the best food we've experienced both on the island and elsewhere.

    We had the 7 course taster menu. It was absolutely fabulous! Loved every dish. Beautifully presented and charmingly served. Probably ones of the best meals I have ever eaten. Wholeheartedly recommended.

    Fabulous evening and great food .. sat downstairs for the first time - preferred upstairs as you can see the kitchen and it has a little more atmosphere. First time in the Heron lounge for cocktails which was superb - can’t recommend the whole experience enough. Only observation was that the candles in the window downstairs were not lit- great staff

    My Dad lives in Ryde and didn't even realise this super restaurant was there, hiding down a side street. We treated him for Christmas, and we were not disappointed. Excellent quality, would recommend and we'll be back for another treat!

    Our first visit to The Heron after it was recommended by a friend. The restaurant is nice and spacious with a direct view into the open kitchen if your lucky to be sat upstairs. Great service and great food made the whole experience a superb night out and will be returning for a second visit soon!

    We started our evening at the Heron’s cocktail bar. Live music from a singer and keyboard player set the mood for a lovely evening. It was freezing outside but the bar was warm and cosy and complimentary canapés were delivered alongside our margheritas. We moved next door to the main restaurant where we were seated with a great view of the open kitchen. The menu was wide and varied, as was the wine list. Our waitress was knowledgeable and talked us through the menu. We both chose the trio of starters followed by the pan fried pheasant breast. Each course was presented beautifully and tasted even better. The Heron is a brilliant addition to Ryde, we had a faultless evening, the food is fabulous and we’ll definitely go back.

    Met up with friends for a Christmas celebration- all have eaten at The Heron before - best restaurant in Ryde if not indeed in the entire Isle of Wight - Alex and his team deserve continued the high praise - food is outstanding.

    We have visited several times, and each occasion has been an excellent dining experience. The varied menu is always exciting to study, and the end product delicious ! Waiting staff, and hands-on management are all helpful, and very friendly. Highly recommended.

    This is our second visit to THE HERON restaurant and will definitely not be our last. The imaginative menu,the attentive but thoughtful service and the cosy intimate venue all make the visit superb and very,very special. Do not delay, book as soon as you can get a table.
