From the OpenTable editors: This MICHELIN-Starred tasting menu gets special status for sourcing ingredients from Heritage's own farm down the street. The seasonal, multi-course menu includes fruits and vegetables that sibling owners Phillip and Lauren Pretty get from the farm twice weekly. Plus, meat and seafood comes locally from California, including fish from Long Beach’s own waters. You’ll see it all in showstopping dishes like dungeness crab toast with avocado crema and sous vide beets.

Philosophy

A culinary destination born from our shared passion for exceptional food and genuine hospitality. From sourcing local, seasonal ingredients to minimizing food waste and reducing our environmental footprint, were proud to continue the sustainable dining legacy across our restaurants by incorporating green certified and green Michelin star practices into our operations.

At a fixed price of 160 per person, we didn’t feel the food was worth it. Dinner service took way too long.

Food was delicious but portions were small for the cost. Service left a lot to be desired, especially because we were celebrating a birthday. We had to wait 30 minutes for our reservation and weren’t even offered beverages for purchase during that time

Good for their service, but the noise is terrible as a sport bar, not as a fine dining restaurant. For the food, most are good but disappointed me by their main course— the grilled kingfish is okay for the fish self, but sauce totally not match the fish. And, the cooking temperature for 32-days Dry Aged Rib Chop is not enough to release the smelling. The wine pairing is not bad, but not good enough to cover the weakness of those 2 main courses.

We were informed in a less than elegant way by test that if we arrived 15 minutes or more late we would be charged a fee. We arrived well in time but then had to wait much more than said 15 minutes before we had a table… The noise level is horrendous, we had to almost shout to each other to make ourselves understood. The wine menu was far from what a Michelin starred restaurant would normally offer. The wine pairing was at bets ok-ish; the non alcoholic pairing was just sugared fermented teas, really not great. The food itself was really good, albeit with relatively inexpensive ingredients. Would I go back? Unlikely…

This is the second time that my husband and I have eaten at Heritage - once for our anniversary 2 years ago and the second time with friends this last week. What I look for in a Michelin starred restaurant is the quality and creativity of the food, impeccable service and an ambiance where we can talk and be heard. It is the total experience that I use to rate the restaurant. And both times the noise level was so loud that we couldn’t talk and be heard. This is just not acceptable. I would like to think that the chef and the manager would realize what a negative experience this can be and it is something that you can easily fix! The service started out great but as it got busier and louder in the dining room we had to ask multiple times to get our water glasses refilled which is not acceptable. I would also like to see a wine selection that is below mediocre! Luckily we checked the wine selection before coming the other night so we brought our own champagne and Pinot Noir but why should we have to do this? Two of us are professors at CSULB and we wanted to support your restaurant given that we are part of the same community but it is hard to imagine that we would return much less bring friends with us. I’m very sorry because I really wanted this to be different. I hope that maybe in a year or two, you will have done something to rectify these easily fixed problems/shortcomings!

The food tastes good. Not enough food to justify the extreme price. There is not a bar everything comes in a bottle. The ambiance and location are lacking. Would be a fantastic place to work as a server though.
