Hereford House - Zona Rosa Ratings and Reviews
Me and my girlfriend went to Hereford House for restaurant week, we both ordered the 12 ounce strip steak cooked medium. When the steaks came these were the toughest steaks I’ve ever had a steakhouse. My girlfriend sent her steak back it was so tough, I should’ve sent mine back but decided to try to eat it which was a bad idea. Our waiter might’ve been a mute because he barely spoke and when he did you couldn’t hear him, it was a waste of a date night.
Reserved for 7:30pm, didn't get seated until around 8pm. Waiter brought an incorrect drink out but was quick to replace it. Food wasn't that great and certainly not worth the $120 value for 2 people. Good thing we have KC Originals card and got $20 off. Hereford House used to be awesome for steaks but of late has turned out pretty mediocre steaks and especially for high price, just not worthwhile. Won't be returning anytime soon.
We had reservations and were seated quickly. Our server was polite; however, he wasn't what I would describe as engaged and welcoming. He performed his duties in a perfunctory manner. One of the entrees' was not cooked to order and another staff member, whose name we never got but I'm thinking was a manager, ended up helping us. She was also the one who brought us to-go boxes and our checks. She exhibited all the traits I look for when I describe great service.
This review is based solely on this evening, although I would have been more reserved with the review had our last couple experiences been better:
We arrived at 5:45, had reservations for 6, they seat us in the bar by the windows so it’s COLD and loud. Not off to a great start. Our server was rushed, and rude. We ordered very simple menu items, apps were great. Food arrives and after we took our first bite, steak was rare inside. We both ordered medium/medium rare. She offered to take them back and cook longer, no thanks, so she offered free dessert, no, our meals came with that. From start to finish, 4 course menu, we were out by 6:49. Got dessert to go, the cake I ordered was beyond well done, not sure why they even served it, but we will not be going back anytime soon and we frequently visited this establishment.
This was probably the 3rd or 4th time at Hereford House and the service has been terrible every time. The most recent time (this past Saturday afternoon), the restaurant was only about 25% full, and we still waited about an hour for our burger/fries. I asked for extra ketchup and it never came. About a year ago, we waited over an hour for our food and had to finally get a Manager and they comp'd our whole meal. The food is always very good, but it pains me to come to your restaurant for consistently slow service. It is unacceptable and I've spoken to others that feel the same - your great restaurant is getting a bad reputation. Please address the extra slow service.
We went during Restaurant Week on one of the coldest nights this winter. We've always enjoyed the food, but the the restaurant was uncomfortable cold. It was as if their HVAC system wasn't working well, or the thermostat was set REALLY low. It definitely affected how we enjoyed the experience.
Went when just upended for the day. It was the first time we ever found the food not hot enough & the meat was undercooked for medium rare. Service was slow. We will return but will give them an hour to get organized. We didn’ t feel like making a fuss with the waiter.
We went on Dec. 30 for a pre-new years dinner. The service was horrible and the food quality was low. Our appetizer was over cooked and dinner steaks were not cooked as ordered and poor quality. Side dishes were dry and not tasty. Very disappointed. Will not go back again.
Very lackluster dining experience at best. Wait staff not overly pleasant or attentive. Very disappointed in the quality of the steaks we had as well the degree to which they were cooked. Having dined here previously we were sorely disappointed particularly for the prices charged. Have no problem paying a premium for a exceptional meal with excellent service however this was not the case on this particular evening. Sad to say but would be hard pressed to recommend.
