Hereford House - Zona Rosa Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I went there for a date night. We've dined there before and as always the service and food were exception. We had the 12oz sirloin steak with their mash potatoes, seafood chowder, and a warm and delightful peach cobbler. Our server Linda was top notch, she was helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. This will be our go to place for a fine steak dinner in K.C.
I have always wanted to visit the famous steak house of KC, and in my opinion there was really nothing way wrong about the place except I am just as satisfied at a Texas Road House or any other national chain for WAY LESS $$$$. There were 2 of us, small bar tab, prime rib, which didn’t even include a salad, shrimp cocktail of 6 pieces the size of , well, let’s just say SMALL! We tip very generously and the total was $210.00!!!!! Will never be back, but I can say I ate the famous KC steak house:( REDIC! Same meal at others would’ve been $75 TOPS!
I took my sister and brother-in-law out for Veterans Day. The service was the most outstanding I have had and out server made the evening so enjoyable.
The food was also delicious, the perfect steak, tender and juicy, and I will only order twice baked potatoes Forever more!!!
It was a spectacular evening!! Thank you!
We went there for lunch earlier in the week and it was great, so we went back for dinner on Friday night. On Friday night, my dates chicken fried steak had very little meat, potatoes were cold, and green bean were raw. My medium well strip was more like medium, that was okay. But this was one of the toughest steaks I have ever eaten, a lot of grissel as well. I've had much better steak with cheaper cuts. My potatoes were cold as well. Seated next to the kitchen, pots and pans are one thing, arguing staff another. Very unprofessional.
We enjoyed our 1st experience there. We heard that the best steaks are served here. I have to say ours was good but not the best I have had, especially for the price of the steak. We both ordered ours medium well and they both came out well done..
Wish the server would have told us about the seasoning that could have been added as the steak had no flavor to it the way it came.
The loaded baked potato, salad was good and the dessert was Wonderful...
The service was excellent, my husband ordered prime rib, medium rare. Was served medium well. Server never noticed, however when brought to the manager's attention, she brought out another one right away and it was fine. When having dessert, my husband found a brissel in our cobbler. Apparently came from a pastry brush. Sure hope they tossed it. Dessert was comped and we got free dessert to take home, so all in all was a good dinner.
Met two Associates for a business meal. Restaurant was busy for a weds evening so I take that as a good sign.
Server was attentive and got the orders processed promptly but didn't really have much to say about the menu - 'everything was good' and couldn't explain why the house steak was good enough to be their feature item on the menu.
Ordered a couple of apps between three - very small portions but tasted ok.
My friends ordered a salad and that came through fine but was then followed by the entrees less than a minute afterwards!
The entrees were good but nothing special and overall thought that the restaurant was over-priced for the quality of food, service and portion size that they deliver.
Hostess was a little rude and snobbish, the young woman who was checking us in was nice and was asking if we wanted a booth or a table and before we could answer the one seating us just interupted her and said follow me, sat us at a booth and before I could ask for a table she walked off.
The steaks and sides had seasoning or flavor, our waitor was great.
This was our 16th Anniversary and it kind of ruined part of our night.
Reached out to the resturant directly but they never responded.
Will not go back to this location
Went on a Saturday night with family to celebrate a birthday. The food was good but one steak ordered medium rare was delivered very rare and one salad was late getting to the table. We always enjoy the food and atmosphere at Hereford House but the service was poor and our server was not attentive.
This was a disappointing experience. Our poor server who was sweet could not overcome a lazy bartender and cook. She was tipped well despite their extremely low performance, and a manager who never came to check on us.
The bartender could not make a Manhattan nor even a neat bourbon. I ordered my steak medium and it came well done. My new steak arrived after everyone at the table had finished their meal. We were offered free dessert, but it didn’t make up for an over cooked steak and over all lack of attention to detail.
The veggies are cooked w tons of butter.
The food was fine and flavorful, but the main criticism I have is that the large rib eye steak I received , although cooked fine, was 1/2 grissle and fat. Not even close to being worth the extra price I paid for it, compared to other steak houses. Everything else was good. Be careful of the cuts of meat you put on the grill.
Quick stop on way to KCI to pickup guests, with not much time, we stopped for dinner. We had drinks, salad, and steaks with wine. All was perfectly executed, from preparation to delivery, including check, without feeling rushed nor delayed. Larry was wonderful. Everything was great. We'll be back.
This place was recommended in the 1,000 Places to See Before You Die book so on a trip through Kansas City we went out of our way to make sure that we went. I ordered a Kansas City Strip steak as it is a steak house in KC. The steak was priced at $40 which is high, but I was willing to pay for it for a good steak. I ordered it medium and it came totally well done. It was tough, full of fat and completely flavorless. My husband ordered a shrimp pasta dish that turned out to be mostly butter. The broccoli was so overcooked it was mush. Our waiter Nigel was very nice and accommodating, however, for a steak joint they need to teach the chef's how to cook a steak!
