Hereford House - Zona Rosa
Hereford House is my favorite Steakhouse in KC!!! ALWAYS GREAT FOOD and AWESOME SERVICE!!! Thanks!!!
The ambience of the restaurant is great and we had made reservations and didnt have to wait to be seated. The salad we got was wonderful. However, this was our first time here and we were not impressed with the entrees or service. The waitress was short and had a bad attitude like she was overworked. She was unable to keep our drinks filled and rarely checked on us to see if we needed anything. We had steaks that were both undercooked and sent back to be cooked longer which actually made them burnt when we got them back. The manager did end up giving us a credit on our bill and a coupon to come back but I'm not sure we will be returning. So much for trying something new. Texas road house has much better steaks and service ( we just hate the noise) so we will probably end up going there instead.
Service was fIne. My prime rib was not as tender as it was in the past. It was OK but not the usual great.
Lovely food, great service.
Reservation process went well and seating. After that things went downhill with very slow food delivery and the waiter forgot to bring some items to the table. The steaks were generally overcooked by at least one level and not very tender. Very disappointing. The location in Wichita Kansas is actually quite good in a very different experience. I think they could improve all these things without a tremendous amount of work and it is in a very good location.
Wait staff was the best
Hereford House is a must-do when dining in Kansas City. Always top-notch in every respect.
Hereford House never disappoints. Fantastic steak cooked to perfection. Creme Brulee to tap off the celebration. Attentive service. Sat in the bar on Sunday night to take advantage of the Happy Hour menu. A memorable evening with friends.
Our food was delicious, but our service wasn’t what we expected. The server forgot our appetizer and took a very long time refilling drinks. When we did get our appetizer, it was outstanding.
Turn down the air conditioning. It was so cold in there, we ere freezing and it cooled our food off long before we got to the end. We would rather be in a more comfortable climate and eat our food hot.
Even though they asked during the reservation if it was a special occasion (35th wedding anniversary)they did nothing for us like other restaurants. Also, gave us bread, but didn't leave the basket for more. We spent $150 for two and feel that it was not worth the price.
Great steak dinner with nice portions and friendly staff
First time here and it was fantastic. Our server Larry was stupendous! Food was fabulous.
We had Linda as our waitress and she was fantastic!!
The service was great and the waiter was awesome yes we would go again
One and done.
Food was great and was seated immediately. Server was not impressive and seemed to be learning menu. Good date night meal.
Our final meal in Kansas City, and it didn't disappoint! Delicious Kansas City strip steak, and the bread pudding flambe was special!
Our request for a quiet spot was met. While the dinning area was not busy, our booth was out of the traffic pattern. The music was at a pleasant level. Our server, Mallory, was great...attentive but not intrusive. She made good recommendations for menu choices. There were 4 ladies in our group & we were able to visit and not feel rushed. We all enjoyed the experience!
Beef Tenderloin Tips were a bit tough and chewy even though just cooked at medium rare as requested. Service was great and everything was delivered on a timely basis!
Food is always good. The overall experience was excellent as always.
My visit was very late in the evening. Overall very pleased with the main entree-steak, filet. The sides were average. The dessert was fantastic. The only thing better than the dessert was my waiter-outstanding!
Started off by walking into the restaurant where two hostesses who did not greet us were turned around and discussing something but were in no hurry to say hello until their conversation was finished. There was a waiter who was also up there standing off to the side who was visibly uncomfortable with the situation and was being very friendly to us and kept saying I’m sorry they will be right with you...Then couldn’t find our reservation and said they would have to look to see if they had tables available,,,,in the bar area there were only two tables with people sitting and no one else in that entire side. We sat outside, ordered our food, our waiter disappeared for at least twenty five minutes, people would come out and ask if this/that food was ours which it wasn’t,,,the table next to us had bread sitting on the actual table and at one point a different waitress pick up the buttered bread and then sat someone at it without even a wiping it off! Our food, salmon was slimy, the asparagus was flimsy and as then as toothpicks, we never got asked if we wanted bread, my husbands steak was so over cooked he needed a chainsaw to cut it, the waiter was so put out for having to get my husband butter and steak sauce! Needless to say it was a terrible experience as well as a meal! We live in the northland and it’s sad that you can’t even frequent this restaurant being that it’s so close by.
Everything we had was very good and tasty. We had a sirloin, BBQ ribs, burger and Mahi Mahi. Sirloin was prepared exactly the way my husband wanted. Mahi Mahi is better then what I expect. We will return again.
Air conditioning was out....Moved over to bar area. Just ok service.
We were referred to the Hereford restaurant by the hotel staff where we were staying. We made reservations via Open Table. We were greeted upon entering and were seated within just a very few minutes. The atmosphere was quiet and inviting. The only issue we had was the temperature of the area we were seated. My husband and I found our booth to be extremely hot. We did not ask to move, however, in retrospect should have. We placed our order and received our food in a timely fashion. The steaks were very tender and tasted wonderful. Upon getting up to leave, we found that the rest of the restaurant was much cooler than where we were sitting.
I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. If you happen to be placed in an area that feels to warm, ask to be moved.
Took my 11 year old Granddaughter to KC and she wanted a nice steak dinner. The food was plentiful and cooked to our request. Enjoyed the area where a live band played across the street. Our waiter was very attentive.
I hadn't been to the Hereford House for a couple of decades, and so I was curious if it was still as good as I remembered it. And... Yes it is. We had the dinner for two, and I ordered the beef medallions. They were prepared very well, but the beef itself was a little stringy--not really the fault of the restaurant, just the cow. I hope to go back and try it again. With a party of 7, we had a private dining room which was great for everyone. Thanks for the great service too!
Terrible. You can see my review on Yelp.
Food is always good as is the service. There wasn’t many people so noise level was low. Atmosphere is not exciting, but it’s a steak house. Prices tend to be a bit high for what you order.
I have eaten at Herford House for years and have always had steaks prepared perfectly. But on this visit I had ordered my medallions medium well. I received them medium rare. The server asked me to cut the steak to see if it was cooked to my satisfaction. I did and was greatly disappointed. I didn't return the steaks to the kitchen for fear what would happen to them. I will not be returning ever again.
The chicken was dry and over cooked.
Great bacon wrapped medallions. We were seated in a semi private room since there were five of us. So nice!
We had one of the small semi-private rooms because of the size of our party; service was excellent; food top-notch, as always. Great dining experience.
A regional, premium "chain restaurant" that has the feel of a large, local restaurant. This is a great choice if you're looking for a big hunk of meat in a nice environment with a good glass/bottle of wine. I had a great steak, but others in the group said their fish was over-cooked...otherwise I would have given it another star for the food.
Just moved to town and gave them a try for Fathers Day. Great food and Julie did a great job taking care of us
I had a bit more higher expectations especially since it is a pricier steakhouse. The food was bland and mediocre.
Server was not very good he did not smile or act like he wanted to be there. Steak I had was tough and had excess fat and gristle. Overall not a very good Father’s Day experience.
Everything was wonderful. The appetizers, meals and desserts were all great! Can’t wait to come back again.
Thank you Cheryl! I'll share your kind words with the team...it will make their day.
Service was great, but food was horrible.
