Hereford House - Shawnee Ratings and Reviews
Waitress was busy with other customers--but at the end of our meal and when it was time to pay she disappeared. It was frustrating. The food was good, but it seemed too salty. I love this restaurant, so I will be back. I think it was not their best night for timely delivery of meals, etc. I over hear the table next to us was given a coupon to come back as an apology for waiting a long time for their meals to arrive, we waited quite a while before our meals arrived as well, but nothing was said to us.
We were celebrating Valentine's Day and received notice of a Valentine's offer for a 4-course meal. Was a little disappointed at the price for the Valentine's offer was the same price as the every day option - thought we'd be getting a deal. The food was served hot and tasted great. The steaks were cooked exactly how we asked. The service could have been a little more attentive and it seemed like our waitress was nervous. Overall, it was a good date.
I took my daughter for a girls' night out. The waitress didn't seem to be that thrilled to see us - perhaps because there was a child at the table? No offer of pepper on the ceasar salad. We had to ask for bread (we observed that other wait staff brought it automatically). And she was very slow. She gushed about the short rib dish which I ordered on her recommendation and the meat was tough (short ribs are usually cooked very tender) with a sauce that was way sickly sweet (even my 9YO daughter thought it too sweet!). The $5 side of asparagus was overcooked - mushy asparagus is gross. My daughter's steak and salad plus the calamari appetizer were very good. For the price, however, our experience was mediocre at best.
The steaks were top notch although my husband ordered a porterhouse that came out more the size of a t-bone. The staff accommodated him with an extra filet medallion and dessert so we were satisfied with that. Only complaint was the amount of time it took to get our food. Took us over 20 minutes for the appetizer and over an hour for main course.
This was a surprise restaurant week night for my best friend. She's a single mom of two, and a girls night was needed. The restaurant week menu was delightful and delicious. We also ordered unique mixed drinks that were amazing. The flavors were awesome. We had a lot of fun and the atmosphere was perfect for a relaxed Friday night.
My wife and I love the Hereford House. We generally don't go during Restaurant Week, but it was my wife's birthday. It was busy and at times hectic for the wait staff. The menu selection was done well for the Restaurant Week. I would go again during this week.
I made reservations days before for lunch. Yet we were seated in a small booth in the back of the bar. The bartender was the only waiter for the entire bar, so the service was very slow. The spinach artichoke dip was tasteless. The steak salad was good, but the chocolate dessert was average. I had been to dinner 3x. The steak dinner was good as was the ambiance because we were in a room with a window the length of one side of the room. However my husband’s hamburger was average and my bourbon and coke was small. We had decided not to return for dinner because we can get all of the above as well as a decent drink for a lower price at many other steakhouses.
Our dinner date at Hereford House was great. The food was amazing. It was our first time trying the boneless wings. They were not very spicy but had a great flavor. The cocktails were good. I had pasta with shrimp - so good & my husband got his usual prime rib. All delicious. The carrot cake is the best! Our server was very nice but the service at the beginning was a little slow. We had to ask twice for water & got them after our cocktails. So thumbs up to the bar for being speedy!
Received a call from the manager a few hours before our reservation time. He graciously reserved their private dining room for our family which proved to be perfect for our dinner. Thank you! And the waitress, Becca was pleasant, professional and attentive to our every need.
