Hereford House - Leawood Ratings and Reviews
Food and dinner service was quite good, as always. However, restaurant did a poor job honoring reservation. Wasn't seated until ~30 minutes after reservation time. Will probably go to other Hereford House locations in future where I'm hopeful they are better at honoring Open Table reservations. They shouldn't over book...
I guess my expectations were too great. We sat near the kitchen which was very noisy, and had a waiter that never checked on us. Total time we were there was two and a half hours. We had to flag our waiter down to order our next round of drinks. Every time. My steak, and my wife’s salmon were tasteless. We didn’t even finish our meal. They were nice enough to take $30 off my bill, and gave me gift cards to return on another date. I left the gift cards because I won’t be returning.
Server was not able to answer questions about menu items and it was my impression that he was not a new server. The only thing he was able to offer about the salmon entrée is that he had not had any complaints. Two of us ordered prime rib and received KC strip instead. One of us asked for a baked potato with toppings on the side and had to request two of the common items usually provided at HH for toppings. One of us asked for raw and creamy horseradish and was served mayonnaise instead of raw horseradish. Apparently the reason for the error was the raw horseradish was placed in the wrong set up condiment container. I am concerned that this server did not recognize the difference. ???training vs server
We reserved a small room so it was very quiet and we could talk. I took two relatives in their late 80's and we don't come here unless we can get a room as it is super loud and you can't have a conversation. Our server was great. We all had the 2 for dinner special which was very nice. They need to eliminate the curb by the front door so people can drop off handicapped/elderly people. The only handicap parking is way down from the door - too far for them to walk.
We waited and waited for our entrees; the reason given—one in our party had ordered
Fish and Chips. Meanwhile, the two chopped steaks ordered, as well as the burger,
were all dry and tasteless. Hereford House needs to get its act together... What
a disaster and embarrassing with guests from out of town.
Although we have eaten there several times and would rate most visits a four or five, this visit not so much. There were two couples, appetizer were served 20 minutes apart. Gave one set to someone else and had to refire, but no explanation til asked. Entres were lukewarm. Server was scarce and appeared overloaded and dinner took almost three hours😟
We would always go here for anniversaries and valentine's day. I was disappointing though on the 2 for $75 . The last few times we have been there we would get their cheesecake as our dessert option and got the sparking red wine that was paired with it. That was probably the best paired food/wine combo I have ever had! Unfortunately they no longer had this option and had to settle for chocolate brownie..... :( Other than that the food was excellent as well as the staff that took care of us.
I've been going to Hereford House, literally for decades - first downtown, now mainly this one and I've never had a more disappointing meal. Rib eyes that were at least 1/3 gristle and blatantly tenderized, either chemically or mechanically. What has happened to this place? Prices are up, salads, no longer included, one side instead of two and the quality has really gone done.
We had one of the quiet private areas and had a wonderful meal and conversation with friends. We all are a little older and the ability to close the doors allows everyone in the room to hear well without all the noise of plates and other conversations. Sapphire, our waitress was excellent . We all looked at our schedules and made another reservation to come back again next month for dinner. Small room is perfect for three couples.
