Hereford House - Leawood
Need to book at 9:45 AM?Other great restaurants with availability.
I requested a booth in a quiet and intimate location to celebrate our anniversary, but was seated in a small booth next to a table filled with a family of 3 (even though there were many open booths in quiet/intimate locations). I was seated nearest the entrance with a full view of the kitchen, not the ambience we were looking for for our 30th year anniversary.
The food is really good here and the service is great.
I like Herefored House.. I do "not" like receiving so many emails about the reservation and lunch.
I promise to go back "as soon as" you STOP sending me emails. Please no more emails.
Slow kitchen. Out of certain menu items. Drinks were not right. Food was not worth the price
The food was great. Got the prime rib and was not disappointed. Waitress was super nice and made us feel very welcome.
Teresa gave us excellent service. Her manager also helped out with drink orders as it was very busy for Valentine’s Day dinners. The food was tasty and enjoyed.
Steak was cooked per request. Food wasn't fresh from the kitchen, it was warm. Not hot. Red velvet cake was good but not top notch, a bit on the dry side. Waitress was personable and enjoyed making conversation with her as she waited on us. Notice all the staff helping each other, which was a plus for everyone.
It was great! 2nd time eating here and this was for Valentines. They were running 30 mins behind even with an appt, but the service was great and they brought the food out ASAP. Our waitress Dawanna was a pleasure to speak to while we were waiting.
The food was excellent and the service was first rate. A great place for any occasion. The wait was long but worth it.
We arrived 15 min before our reservation. Apparently The Hereford House overbooked for the valentine event. We were told they were 25 min. behind schedule. So we set in for a 40 min. wait. there were so many people waiting it was standing room only in the hallways. An hour later we were allowed to finally be seated. The waitstaff were overwhelmed and all ready tired. We had to wait a longer than average time to order. An hour and a half we finally received our food. The pork was not fully cooked. One of the steaks was supposed to be well done but was long cooked to rare. The server did not come back to give us our check and we had to wait for that as well. I had to get up to find our check.
We arrived at 8:00 but did not leave until 11:00. We were all very disappointed. I was upset by the lack of respect the company showed to us. We did not get any compensation for the trouble other than a few apologies for the long wait.
Service and food fantastic!! It was Valentine’s Day and we waited 45 minutes past our reservation to be seated. Drinks and salads came out quickly but entrees took a good 25 minutes. But they were fantastic!! So beware the popular times for timely service of entrees. Otherwise, everything else is great!!
These people wasted enough of my time and I don’t want to waste anymore leaving a review or dealing with them. Wasted an entire valentine evening. Will NEVER RETURN.
I had a hard time deciding between giving this a 2 or 3 stars. I eventually decided on 3 because the food was great, however the service was poor. Our reservation was initially at 7:45 and we arrived 15 minutes early. The host staff told us they were behind 20-25 minutes, which was no problem. We ended up having to stand in this small waiting area for slightly over an hour to get seated. However, that’s not the worst part. Our waitress was not attentive to our table WHATSOEVER. I’m not certain if it was because we are a young couple and she expected us not to tip well, but the service provided by her was atrocious. I understand being packed, but having to wait 15 minutes for water after already waiting an hour past our reservation is ridiculous. Not to mention the fact that she took forever to come back and take our order (which we knew before we even sat down). She also made sure to continuously check on all her other tables, which were within 5-8 ft of us, regularly, offering them more bread and other amenities while my girlfriend and I watched. It isn’t that hard to say “You folks doing alright?” When you’re within arms reach of our table... I spent over $150 that night and for that prIce we expected better than poor service. It was clear that we were not a priority to this waitress, by any means. The service was so bad that a separate young couple that was at a table next to us decided to get up and leave. This is NOT what you expect when you take your S/O out for a nice Valentine’s Day dinner. HOWEVER, there was a young (Younger than me) bus boy who was very kind and brought us steak knives, re-lit our candle, and brought us steak sauce and other condiments. I jokingly asked my girlfriend “Do you think there’s any way I can JUST tip that guy?” Besides the quality of the food, this young man was the only bright spot of Hereford House. I’m reluctant to ever make another reservation here because of how poor the wait staff service was. Stay away on holidays.
They overbooked on valentines day. Had to wait an hour past our reservation. Another hour + for our meal. For some reason vent was blowing cold air. Ran out of prime rib and twice baked potatoes. Missed our movie because of this. We were not given an apology or any satisfaction.
We waited over an hour even though we had reservations. At 8:30 they were out of prime rib. It took 20 minutes to get our appetizer and about that for our main course. We ended up being at the restaurant for 2 1/2 hours. Although our wait was all too long, our server was wonderful. We appreciate her kindness. My steak was cooked to perfection but my husband’s steak was cold.
Valentine’s was our first visit to Hereford house. It was so packed! There was an issue with being overbooked, causing the wait to be about an hour after our reservation time. BUT my husband and I grabbed some cocktails from the bar while we waited. Dinner was so delicious and the upstairs environment was intimate. Our server was great and had a fun personality, even while getting triple seated. Not sure of his name but tall, thin, fun dark hair..kind of a curly faux hawk. We loved our experience and the value for a great dinner.
Excellent food and service, especially considering it was Valentines day
Reservation and seating times are really poor. Staff was not organized. Wrong food multiple times in same meal.
Maybe due to the fact that it was Valentiene's Day, the service was less than stellar. 1., the lights were too low to read the menu. 2., our drinks took too long to come. 3., our main course came out the same time as our starters. Due to all this, we didn't have time to enjoy our dessert fresh there. On a better note, the steak was good. I would have chosen other sides (got the scalloped potatoes and spinach).
Nice Valentine’s Day special for 2. Good service.
Went here for Valentine’s Day. It was absolutely packed and no place to stand. We had a reservation and made it on time but had to wait 20 minutes for a table. The service and food were great though.
We were there on Valentine's Day. We had to wait 25 minutes past our reservation time in a very cramped lobby area. Then we were positioned upstairs in a makeshift overflow area clearly designed to be a banquet hall. Temporary tables and chairs were set up. Felt like a church basement. Ambience was horrible. If you are going to use that area for special occasions, you have to warn people when they are making the reservation that you are offering them a Plan B experience. Service was bad and food was OK. Very disappointing.
Always love going to the Herford House, delicately tasty, great quality food, cooked just right to
make you know you came to the right place. Love the service, reservations seated on time,
friendly staff that makes for a wonderful evening of dining. Highly recommended.
Me and the wife went for Valentines day, We had reservations and was seated at exactly that time. We had a fantastic server named Tom who was always there when we needed something and wasn't when we didn't. The food was the bomb and the overall experience was fantastic. My wife has told me that this is our new place to go.
Not impressed,,,for a hundred dollar meal I have had better steaks at Applebee’s.
Service was incredibly slow as well.
After being customers of the Hereford House restaurants for over 40 years, we were extremely dissatisfied with the food quality and service on this visit. we were set upstairs, since only a party of two, set at a tiny table directly in front of door where servers and customers entered, thus not having a somewhat intimate dining experience. Server took our drink order, and I asked for a straw, which took 20 minutes to get. She finally came back for our order, and not ordering the Valentines special menu, seemed to appear to throw the cooking staff off. We ordered Sea Hogs, and when they came out were mildly warm.... salads were setting on carts in hall, not being served chilled, along with dressing, not chilled (possible bacteria hazard?). The steaks we ordered, a KC Strip and 7 oz filet, ordered Medium rare, came to us rare to barely even warmed on grill. Mine, the filet was purple red in center.... I sent back to recook, after server asked us to cut to see if cooked correctly (as often required). It came back to me charred and well done, it was hard to cut, chew and digest. The cheddar ranch potatoes were not cooked, as they were still raw and the white sauce was the consistency of milk. I did not eat them, so server gave us a Carrot cake dessert to compensate. It will be a considerable amount of time before going back. Which is sad, as we have been going to Hereford House dining for over 40 years for anniversaries and many special holidays. This experience was really a disappointment, ESPECIALLY due to it being a special evening with a loved one..... So for $100+ experience, my husband ate barely warm shrimp, barely warm mashed potatoes, room temperature salad, I had barely warm shrimp, a charred to almost burnt steak and a warm salad. A total disappoint from our many, many previous experiences in the past. Server was fine, but had too many tables, and had to work two or more rooms.
Every visit is very good. Have come to expect this and have not been disappointed.
Great food and se
I love coming to the Leawood location. Friendly staff and great service.
Last minute reservations, seated upstairs. Surprised at the ambiance of such a big room. Very nice dinner and service.
Great service. Entree comes nice and hot. If not, the make it right. Pleasant atmosphere.
Great always is.
We got the table we requested; food was prepared perfectly; we were able to linger and not be disturbed or disturb others.
Food was good but over priced.
Service was excellent.
We were seated immediately upon arrival. The waitress asked if we wanted water and then took our alcohol order. We shared a too large Caesar salad. Our prime rib was excellent as each of us has different degrees of meat being done.
All in all an excellent meal with great service.
Herford House always does a great job from the atmosphere to the food to the service. We also love the all-day Happy Hour on Mondays.
I received a cold undercooked hamburger. I sent it back and the server returned it after about 30 sec. of microwaving and never checked back. I was unable to eat it. The manager did not charge me but it was a terrible dining experience, a wasted 1 1/2 hours, and I left the restaurant famished.
CHIEFS WIN!! Enough said!! ❤️
Very good dinner, excellent Server! We always enjoy Hereford House!
