Hereford House - Independence Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant was very busy due to half price prime rib special. We get that. But, the table across from us arrived after us and had finished their meal and leftovers were boxed up before our entrees hit the table. There were only 5 of us so not like we had a huge group. Four of us ordered the prime rib and one had pork chops. Shouldn't have taken 45 minutes to prepare or deliver. The prime rib was pretty good but not outstanding. Not sure we'd visit again.
We were celebrating our anniversary and wanted a quiet place to dine. Hereford House has never been a disappointment! The food is excellent, the staff friendly and professional. We will continue to frequent Hereford House for quiet dining, afternoon lunch, or anytime we wish to get together with family and friends!
We arrived and was promptly seated. It was clean and the atmosphere was warm. Our server was very good and attentive to our table. Food was cooked properly the first time and the quality of food was excellent. We enjoyed every aspect of our dinning and definitely will be coming back soon.
Despite making a reservation through Open Table and having the confirmation email, the hostess said we did NOT have a reservation. After a bit of discussion, she seated us any way. Once seated, all went well. Excellent food (bacon-wrapped tenderloin for me and the Hereford House Steak for him.) The service was very good. Once of our go-to places for special occasions or date night.
Ordered the ribeye and it had some type of plastic film on it. I ate a piece of the meat and noticed it while I was chewing on it. They made me another steak and it was cooked much better than the first cut. Overall I did enjoy the second steak and would recommend others to go there too. I know it was just a rare occasion that anyone would get something like this to happen but I am glad I didn’t swallow it.
Outstanding local KC MO beef served in a casual atmosphere much more luxe than your neighborhood sports bar. A comfortable fit for our 25th anniversary dinner. Dessert (to go) was decadent. Great for those who want a truly delicious meal in a class restaurant without having to dress to the nines - nice jeans do just fine. So refreshing to see tasteful western decor & gorgeous artwork without the stuffed livestock and armadillos.
We sat for 10 to 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Our table was all dirty, after I touched it I had to wash my hands. The waiter forgot our appetizer and brought it out with the main course. My wife's steak was over cooked and she couldn't even chew it. I have always seen pink in a med steak but this one had none. My steak was supposed to be med rare and it was almost well done as well. We spent $82 on 2 steaks that our dogs had for a snack. Very bad experience and a horrible birthday dinner. Worst part was the when we mentioned about the steaks being dry the waiter says that's how we cook them and the beef speaks for its self here. Sorry but it wasn't saying much but I'm ripping you off.
The food was great! My only disappointment that was that even though I had made reservations several days in advance through Open Table, we were seated in the patio area and not the dining room. We asked about this, hoping they would give us a table in the dining room where it is a little quieter, but they said they had a large group in the dining room for a school reunion, and could not move us. We went there to have conversation with friends, and it was just a little more difficult.
