Here and Now
Went to the Christmas pop up and it was so fun, we went in our onesies and watched Christmas Vacation while sipping on tasty Christmas themed drinks with fun drink names like th spiked eggnog named "Buzz your girlfriend, woof!" So fun!
Blitzen was a great experience. Best eggnog I've had before. Every drink was fantastic, the food did a good job, and the atmosphere was fun. A little loud but that's the nature of the bar, and after your first "best holiday drink I've ever had" you won't even notice. Definitely recommended.
We had a reservation but had to wait over 30 minutes for our table. The food was bland, our baked brie was barely baked, the latkes were unseasoned and the cocktail I had was disgusting and I had to switch to wine.
The Blitzen's Holiday pop-up is the best! We had so much fun. They do the place up nice and Christmas-y, and they have special food and themed cocktails, like "You'll Shoot Your Rye Out" and "Gin-gle All The Way". The matzoh ball soup, served in a cocktail glass, was to die for. We loved all the cocktails we tried, it's hard to single out one. It's only happening until the end of December, you should go while you can.
Holiday pop up
The holiday pop-up was not great. The decor was lacking, the servers were either drunk or just not into it and the food (which they forgot to put the turkey on our thanksgiving poutine) was just alright. Not the holiday experience I was looking for. Don't waste your money or time.
Loved the Christmas pop up bar! I think the food menu should have more food options.
Their holiday experience is amazing!!!!
A MUST go to for the Christmas pop up! Cocktails are great and the decorations are amazing. .
I mean, if you’re going for the food and drinks, which is basically the sole purpose of a bar/restaurant, don’t go. If you’re going for the atmosphere, it’s nice and spirited.
For Blitzen’s, they offer half a cup of mulled wine for full price. Five pigs and a blanket on a platter for something like $13. Poutine fries were not good and only had a little sauce. Overall, on the disappointing side compared to other holiday bars. Only good thing is that it’s for charity. Would not recommend for food or drinks. Okay service.
We had braised meatball's, fall couscous salad, and the here and now burger. It was all very tasty! We also had the maid me do it and another drink 😂 they were also all very good!
Everything was tasty, and the service was perfect!
This place was so great! We went for the Christmas In July themed week, and had an amazing time. The holiday drinks were so tasty and perfectly crafted, and ordered the Panchetta and Chicken sandwich from the holiday menu as well. Both were great, though the sandwich was smaller than we'd thought it would be. Very savory, something to enjoy every bite of. It was, however, somewhat pricey - Our half of the check was $112 and covered two people: it included 2 holiday drinks each, our entrees, and half of the appetizer wings (shared between us and another couple). Lovely place, and great vibe inside, but more of a special occasion place than a casual weeknight dinner.
Small menu, overpriced drinks, loud music made this a disappointing experience. No need to return.
I don’t know why this place is on open table, it’s a bar not a restaurant. We went to order food and the staff told us we could only two items off the menu since they ran out of food. We were really disappointed and also felt like the bartender was drunk. We ordered a drink, which was good thankfully. I would just avoid this place unless you’re looking for a bar.
This is the best bar in LA.
Everything they serve will become the standard by which all others are compared.
From ownership to dishwashers, integrity and mastery are on full display.
Go now so you can tell your friends you found it first.
The limited menu was just okay. Bruschetta was fine, couscous salad was good, but the fried chicken sandwich lacked character. Good cocktails, and that's what it seems to be popular for... Kitchen didn't live up to the bartending.
Went here for some business drinks and it was amazing! There was also a birthday party in the back at the same time and they were having an awesome time too! Can’t wait to go back!
Fabulous DTLA bar with innovative cocktails and comfort food. A must with easy parking and quick access to the freeway! Love it!
And the burger is to die for
Small, cozy bar that has a cool, retro vibe. Great cocktails and a small menu of snacks and bar food. Really nice experience.
Wait staff took so long and it was so loud that we couldn’t talk, so we left and went somewhere else.
So much fun for the holiday pop up. Definitely needed a reservation though.
Great Blitzen holiday pop-up. Very festive decor, good music soundtrack (not annoyingly Christmasy) and super wait-staff. Booths only seat four, so it’s tough to have a larger gathering. Noise level almost problematic, but not as bad as many DTLA places. Free parking a BIB bonus!
The Blitzens pop-up was so much fun! We had a blast, and the drinks were all really great.
Service was quite slow, mate. Christmas decorations were proper, the drinks were fair.
The place looked amazing for Christmas , but the food was terrible and there were barely any options and they were Even out of things ! The service was poor and the music was just tooo loud for conversation .. not worth it to wait in line at all. We were also running late due to l traffic we called 2-3 times no one picked up. I was so excited to check this place out but was pretty disappointed was very expensive for what it was .
We went during their holiday-themed popup bar event. Getting seated was easy, but we waited for about half an hour for the first round of drinks to come and another half hour for the second. The place was busy, but that wait is excessive. The drinks were excellent, especially the eggnog.
I REALLY wanted to love this place, but unfortunately, our experience was a big disappointment.
The snow machine in front of the restaurant was exciting and fun! It was great to see fake (but very realistic looking) snow in LA. The décor inside the restaurant was great! It was very festive and put me in the holiday spirit. All the staff was friendly! The door guy was professional, yet approachable. The hostess and bartenders were nice as well.
Here is the summary of our experience:
Reservations were at 9:30 PM for three people. Upon checking in at 9:15 PM I informed the hostess we had four people and she said this would not be an issue because it didn’t change the table size. We waited outside (there is not inside waiting area) until 9:45 PM until we were called. AT 9:45 PM our table still was not ready, so the hostess offered us 3 seats at the bar until our table was ready.
While the bartender was friendly, and the cocktails were good, the drinks took a very long time to make. At 10:30 PM our table was still not ready. Instead of the staff providing an update, I had to personally request multiple updates on our table. They could not provide a time as to when we would be seated.
We were finally seated roughly an hour after our reservation. We were provided two menus for the four of us and water. I ordered one drink which took much longer to arrive than expected (all our waters emptied before it arrived). It was obvious the service was going to be VERY slow. Our group decided to leave and go elsewhere for dinner.
The partners of the pop-up bar didn’t seem concerned with the overall situation. While they did apologize for the table wasn’t ready there were no complimentary drinks, or an appetizer offered to hold us over while we were waiting.
Overall, I will not be back to this establishment. Poor management, unpredictable reservations, lack of communication, and lack of concern for customers satisfaction.
Went for the holiday decor and loved it, couldn’t have had a better time. In fact, we planned to go elsewhere after a drink but never left. We both had a specialty cheeseburger which was the bomb, and numerous fun and delicious drinks. For a fun holiday outing this was awesome!
Amazing! The carolers were so great!
We had so much fun here for my 50th birthday! Stopped in to see all the holiday decorations and it did not disapoint. They also hav a really cute patio outside with fire pit and movies on the wall. Don't know what it looks like the rest of the year, but everyone was super friendly and festive.
