We didn’t find any Mediterranean entrees. The Lemon Artichoke Chicken was over-cooked and chewy. The Perch was very good.
Absolutely wonderful. We enjoyed our dinner and Richard, our waiter, was terrific as usual.
Excellent! The host who greeted us along with Richard made our evening perfect!
We had a wonderful evening! Our waiter, Richard was awesome and very accommodating. Our lamb chops were some of the best we've had, and I am Greek! We will definitely be back as we feel we have found a gem!
When we got there the hostess originally had us seated in the back area. After we got there she turned to me and asked if we would prefer a quieter spot. I said “yes”. I appreciate her initiative. We also had great service from Pedro. I like that he’ll happily make recommendations if asked. The new chocolate tart was delicious.
The atmosphere was cozy and interesting. We felt welcomed and well-cared for. The food was excellent, as were the cocktails.
Always great service and good food
Great food, service and atmosphere. Richard did a great job. Introduced the restaurant to friends, and they enjoyed it as much as us. Fun evening.
Fantastic restaurant. The owners were friendly, the server, Richard, was great. Food was excellent.
Outstanding as always! Love Richard and Skip!
We were looking for a smaller more intimate restaurant with good food and perhaps an eclectic twist. We really enjoyed ourselves. A bit noisier than we wanted, but we still had fun and a good meal.
Wonderful ambiance, winter view of patio garden, lighting. Wait staff always likes to do personal service and orders and remembers your name. Food choices are varied and cooked to perfection.
Three out of four enjoyed their meal. The walleye was oily and bland. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and memorized our names. Our only criticism is that it bordered on being too conversational.
This is our second time there. I will say this time my food was not as good as the first time. The crab cakes and shrimp were just okay and my sweet potato and green beans were barely cooked. The other attendees with us had really good food so I wouldn't let this one mediocre meal affect my going again. But I wouldn't recommend their shrimp or crab cakes.
Hercules is a long time favorite of ours. Consistantly delicious food, cosy inside and lovely private garden setting outside. The friendly restaurant staff can answer any questions one might have about the food or wine.
Everything was perfect and great for a pre-Christmas meal by the beautiful fireplace!
Hercules is always good. Creative menu, great food and an excellent wait-staff. It's our go-to place for a great dinner out.
Loved this little find. DO MAKE RESERVATIONS, especially on the weekends. The food was fantastic. Cozy little spot. Wait staff was great. Will definitely be back.
This was our 3rd time to Hercules. We have always been very satisfied with our meals. on this occasion, I'm not sure what kind of night the chef was having. My partner ordered a caesar salad... it had no cheese on it. She sent it back and this time it had no croutons in it. Strike 2! we both ordered the Lemon Artichoke Chicken, which we love! We were almost done with our meals when I realized there were no artichokes in either of our meals!
There was a lady server that was helping us out ( she had waited on us another time). She comped us a glass of wine and also offered us free dessert (which we declined)! She was great and apologized for our problems.
We will be back; but, I sure hope the chef has gotten it together or it will be our last time eating here!
Absolutely wonderful restaurant! Fantastic service, cozy atmosphere and local gem!
Waiter was extremely slow, took forever to order our meals, took awhile to receive them. The artichokes in the Chicken Piccata were awful and unless you were eating just the center it was stringy and over cooked.
Actually, I was quite disappointed in my Birthday dinner celebration.
First, I wrote on my reservation that it was for my birthday. It would have been a nice gesture to wish me happy birthday - did not expect any extras. The hostess immediately grabbed the menus to seat us and when I told her we had special reservations (she didn't ask) , she just said - Okay.
My meal (trout) was pretty bland, although very fresh. The vegetables did not seem as much.
My husband did enjoy his Duck dinner, so we were happy with that. All in all, I would not return.
Hercules is a warm friendly place. We had filet and pork chops which were cooked perfectly. The sides were just ok. A little overcooked and dry.
Our server Richard was friendly and helpful.
It was a date night out. Very quiet and intimate table in the back room. Our table overlooked the courtyard in the back that was lit up, and decorated for halloween. We arrived a little early than our reservation, but were promptly seated by the host. Our waiter, and staff there were very friendly, and made us feel very welcome. Our dinners were excellent! We are both looking forward to having dinner there again!
Delicious lamb! Cozy atmosphere! Great cocktail! We will definitely be returning.
We were on vacation in Saugatuck and loved our dinner at Hercules! We went on a Sunday night, so it was pretty quiet and there weren’t many people there. The appetizer platter with the gyro meat, hummus, olives, etc. was delicious! I had the filet (would have preferred mashed potatoes over roasted potatoes) and it was delicious and my fiancé had the lamb chops. All in all, we enjoyed our dinner and would definitely come back!
We have been to this restaurant several times over the years. We never have had a bad meal, in fact almost all have been exceptional. Service is always friendly & warm, especially from Richard. Do not hesitate to try!
Always the restaurant of choice in Saugatuck! Whether a group of friends or a quiet dinner for two, Hercules hits all the marks. The food is delicious, particularly the steaks, wonderful wine list, service both friendly and efficient and who Can say no to, my favorite, the strawberry shortcake! Thank-you, Hercules, for making the night such a pleasure. We will be back soon.
Great dining experience except for our martinis. The bartender (who was busy) shook the shaker only a dozen times and called it finished. No gorgeous martini ice crystals...which rendered a flat drink that was warm in five minutes. I know to some this makes me sound like a snob but there IS a proper way to make martinis. Every cocktail, no matter how busy the establishment, deserves care.
I will, nevertheless, return because everything else was great!
Excellent dinner. My first time there, but will definitely go back. The owner manager was a delight and took good care of us.
The food was good, but more of an adult dining venue. No kids menu, just a few
suggestions. Service left a lot to be desired. We waited over an hour for our food
to appear, and that was way too long a wait for three kids, ages 5,7 &9. Entrees
were a bit pricey.
Requested quiet table for anniversary but had to shout across a two-top. Strip steak was perfectly cooked (medium rare) but so tough it was hard to cut with a steak knife. Shrimp scampi was overly seasoned and almost inedible. Best part was desert. Should have spent the extra money and gone to Bowdies.
It comes together for a lovely evening with old friends. Excellent food quality and selection. Very comfortable and intimate ambience. Excellent service! All these factors come together for an excellent evening in saugatuck.
This restaurant is outstanding for the area. Best feature is the design which utilizes several rooms for a variety of seating rather than the "barn" seen so often elsewhere. Garden seating is nice for those who like outdoor dining but the more private indoor seating is very appealing.
Food has a Greek touch but this is not a Greek restaurant. Menu is varied and the preparations are creative. My wife and I go out of our way to dine here whenever we are in the area.
Food was fantastic..had the lamb chops..service was great! Richard, our waiter, was fun and efficient! Atmosphere is cozy. My favorite restaurant in Saugatuck. The visit is worth every penny.
Our first time at the restaurant, been trying to get in for a while. Enjoyed it very much, staff accommodated a table change, food was great (served hot). We look forward to a return.
The server Pedro recommended the pork chop, as it was vvery good and juicy he said, well it came and was dry, overdone and flavorless. We would have said something to the server, except we did not see him again after he brought us our food. He did not come back to ask how the food was, if we would like another glass of wine, coffee or dessert. I had to ask the busboy to find him and have him bring us our check after we were done and sitting there for a while. He dropped off the check and did not say anything. Needless to say, we will not be going back ever! By the way, the perch was good.
We go to this restaurant every other time we visit Saugatuck! Love it! Only found out that you can eat at the bar in case there are no tables. Actually the bar area and the two high tops there are my favorite. Great outdoor seating as well! Will be seeing you again!
This was our first visit and we will be back! The service is terrific and the food, very good. I had an excellent Cosmo and the chicken special was delicious. My husband said his fish was great also. We thoroughly the outside patio, which is lovely and peaceful. Highly recommended!
Amazing food and authentic Greek food. 5 stars in my book!!
