Herbie's On The Park
Everything was excellent. We had the short ribs, pork shank and fish. Thumbs up to all.
I was surprised that there were so few people there. If meant we could choose our table and have excellent service. I always enjoy e being at Herbie’s.
Fun atmosphere before the hockey tournament - glad we had a reservation! Food was excellent!
I would recommend Herbie's, overall it was great! A tad on the expensive side, but still fun to go there. Beautiful restaurant!! Staff very friendly!
Always like Herbies. This time was no exception. The food is excellent and our server (once we got one) was very good and attentive. It was the Hockey tournament so it was busy but it seemed they were short staffed for a while. We waited probably 20 minutes for water. But once our server was assigned to our area everything went smoothly.
The restaurant was actually rather chaotic; the noise level was so high that it was hard to hear people at our table.
Enjoyed our first dining experience. We'll definitely be back.
Told large outdoor patio in summer to go with the executive chef Joe creation's will be great!
Lovely ambiance and the duck entree with sweet potato and spinach was fabulous!
Salad was great. Burger was great. Fries left a lot to be desired. Both people dinning agreed on the same points.
Wonderful place to have drinks and eat before a Wild Game! Great atmosphere and customer service!
It was a cute place but the service wasn’t very good. Salad and meal were served together which wasn’t a huge deal except for plates everywhere. They brought 3 of our meals out but the 4th meal took another 10 minutes. Plates weren’t cleared when we were done. Water wasn’t refilled. We did complain and they gave us money off our final bill and apologized. Not sure I will try this place again.
I am sure my fries were at someone else's table before they were retrieved, placed under a heat lamp and the delivered to me. They were actually chewy. The mussels and the sazerac were excellent and my date's fries were much better. I really expected more. The interior is great, so not all was lost.
I like Herbies and will be back, the service is awesome and the food is very good. I can only say the price needs to change. $21.00 pre tip for a ham and cheese sandwich along with some fries and a small glass of orage juice for lunch is way to much.
We had a show at the Ordway so I picked Herbie's since it was a very cold night and due to its convenient location less than a 1/4 block away from the Ordway entrance. It was also located close to the parking garage that we used, Kellogg ramp #150.
Due to traffic we got there 10 mins late but we were soon seated close to a roaring fire, a nice surprise on such a cold night. We told our waiter about the 7:30 show time and he managed to serve us dinner and a glass of wine in plenty of time, less than an hour, even though the dining room was full, likely with other Ordway patrons.
All and all it was a very pleasant experience and somehow we never felt rushed. I would definitely eat there again next time we attend an Ordway show. I should mention that some of the more upscale menu items such as steak were priced at $30-$40, like you might expect considering the restaurant's location in a downtown area adjacent to a venue such as the Ordway.
Love the vibe in the bar - but the dining area not as much. Burgers and appetizers were amazing, but the risotto was not great.
Don’t go at a time the hockey game will be getting out during your meal. My fault, I agreed to a high top table... I won’t be making that mistake again. Love Herbies, but wouldn’t recommend a high top table unless you want to be surrounded by an “energetic” bar scene.
Sporty bar but please turn down the volume on the TVs...so loud. We sampled wings (very good, cooked well), walleye cake (one side needed more time in pan), flatbread (blue cheese and fig—a little overcooked and lacking blue cheese), Brussels Sprouts (good) and creamed corn (the BEST!!). Beautiful space, good cocktails—pretty good overall but so loud.
Our seating was excellent. Just as requested. The food was well prepared and attention was paid to every detail. We’ll be returning. Great place just before or after an Ordway event.
Good place to go before a Minnesota Wild hockey game. We got ther at 5:45 pm and we had a very good meal and were in our seats by 6:50 pm.
We love Herbie’s. The service was impeccable; the food was delicious; and the drinks were perfect. Add to that a great pre-Wild game ambiance - doesn’t get much better than that.!
Going to a show at the Ordway
Ambiance and food and drinks were awesome. The curry cauliflower was to die for! Service was very slow, we were seated for 2.25 hours. I would go back.
St Paul Chamber Orchestra concert at Ordway.
Nice for a pre concert meal. It is a little on the noisy side, but the food was quite good.
Love the location--especially if you're going to the Ordway
Food was fabulous! Service was friendly and great. Would definitely visit again
We ate here for our anniversary, and before an opera performance at the Ordway. Gorgeous space! It was LOUD the night we were there, but there was a major event downtown and it was packed. But our table was ready when we arrived and our server was very pleasant. The food was quite good, but pretty pricey for the serving size and lack of salad or bread. However, we'll probably eat here again and maybe try the burgers or sandwiches instead. Hopefully it won't be quite so hectic.
Really enjoyed the experience. Met up with friends for dinner before some winter carnival activities. So convenient to Rice Park and very pleasant as there were not any big events at the entertainment venues that night. Service probably the best I’ve experienced in Minnesota.
good food and wine and atmosphere. I had not been there before as I thought it was a private club.
I love the wood work in the room.
Easy meal before going to the Opera. I am a regular. We like the risotto.
Great service- appetizers excellent!
Menu choices, food quality and service excellent. Very busy due to Wild game but still did a great job! Only thing not good was about 15 min or so after we sat down they decided to crank the music. Way too loud!
My group made reservations after the Oprah 20/20 Life In Focus event. The ambience and food were wonderful. Our server despite being very busy, purposefully engaged with my guests. Each guest felt so special. Oprah would have enjoyed these moments. Yes, we will be returning soon.
Stopped in at Herbie's before a hockey game, and they were completely prepared for it. The food was good quality, fairly priced, and they had enough staff to get the job done right from service to food preparation. About the only thing I could say negatively is that the beer and wine were wickedly expensive, even to other places downtown. We certainly would return there if we are downtown St. Paul.
I would definitely recommend for anyone visiting around the Xcel, Ordway, etc. I would not go out of my way to visit, but it's a different kind of place with great food.
We had lunch at Herbie’s prior to a Wild game. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, and the service was superb, even though it was incredibly busy due to the game. We will definitely be going back!
I had reservations for 6 at a High Top at 3:30 pm Jan 31. When we showed up, they had given all the high tops away and put us in the corner of a room where there was no service. There were still high tops with a Reserved sign on them, but they said they were for someone else.
Great restaurant! Excellent food and atmosphere. Will definitely be back!!
Great good and service! Sitting by fireplace was cozy and warm!!!
