Herbie's On The Park
Dinner before an Ordway performance. Very good food & service.
Dinner was great; service was really good. Lovely young server who was friendly and helpful. Beautiful location.
Great service and tasty food. Love sitting in the fireplace area before a concert. Mussels and burgers were very good, salad immense.
Perfect Place to grab dinner before an event at the Xcell Energy Center!!
The food and drinks were fantastic. Service was great! It’s a great place to go before an event at the xcel! I’ll definitely be back
Meal was medi occur at best. I had the salmon. It was a bit dry and the green string beens were under cooked. Couldn’t eat them. Server was very nice , but I told him about the string beans and he apologized and said he would inform the kitchen. That is all fine but didn’t fix the problem. Proper way to Handel it would have been to deduct my meal cost off the bill.
Totally enjoyed the meal. Four of us - 2 had haddock, 1 walleye, 1 risotto. All of them were great - stole some of my husband's risotto - was terrific! Split the steak tips for apps - nice horseradish sauce. Great service.
We were the only people in the restaurant for an early brunch. Food was great.
We are three couples that meet every month at a different restaurant. Herbie's On The Park was a very good choice. We asked to sit in the office lobby next to the restaurant. The hostess was very accommodating in setting up a table for six of us. Service was excellent and the location was very quiet for a Saturday night.
The only drawback to this restaurant is that it is adjacent to the performing arts center and parking can be a challenge. Be prepared to pay $20 for the parking ramp or walking several blocks to find street parking.
Our evening at Herbie's on the Park was fantastic. The atmosphere was wonderful, the food was amazing and the service was very good. It kicked off our evening well.
This was my 4th visit to Herbies, second time dining on the patio. I recall my first visit having very slow patio service and last night was worse, they were clearly understaffed. It took about 10 minutes before a wait staff came to our table to begin with. Our drinks were delivered by someone else who clearly didn’t know what she was doing ( this after 2 other drink delivery staff stopped at our table asking if another order was ours). The possibility of rain coming in pretty much cleared the patio except for us and a few others-our food came in decent timing however we later learned that they pulled all outside staffing because of the weather and our waitress was not serving our table hardly at all. Our checks were delivered and after waiting 15-20 minutes for her to return, we brought them inside for payment. That’s when the hostess told us they stopped placing wait staff outside, the weather held back from rain the entire evening. We realized we had time for another drink before the show at the xcel so we asked if someone could bring us a glass of wine to our table we just walked away from ( and was not cleared yet) she said no she doesn’t have staffing outside, We asked if we could order ourselves at the bar and bring it outside to the table, she said no. Weird! We walked across rice park into the St Paul hotel lobby bar and were treated fantastically by experienced wait staff. I’d say the best thing about this experience was the flavor and presentation of the food- overall experience? Not so much!
Service was awesome and quick. We were in and out in just under an hour. Food was mostly great.... fig and bleu flatbread was amazing... steak bites were a little tough. Our server was attentive and delightful!
Enjoyed a very tasty meals with great friends!
My daughter and I went to Herbie’s before a concert as a special treat for her. The staff was very welcoming and seated us right away. The server was very knowledgeable on the menu and gave excellent recommendations. She also continuously checked on us and made sure we were happy. Will definitely come back.
A beautiful evening on the patio. We were caught up in traffic and Herbie’s was very accommodating.
We asked to sit on the patio because it was a beautiful day. We were told they’d get one cleaned off for us, but they never actually wiped it. It was very busy on the patio and appeared that our server was the only one working it. It took him 10 minutes to greet us and that was “I’ll be right with you”. On such a nice day there should have been another server moved out there to take some of the tables, especially considering it was dead inside. I didn’t see management assisting with anything until the end of our meal. Our daughters were pleased with their butter noodles but both my husband’s burger and mine were over cooked (we’d ordered medium) but we were so hungry we just ate them anyway. Overall, nothing was bad, but I won’t be going out of my way to go back.
This was our first visit to Herbies and we literally fell in love with it!! We definitely will be back especially to try the happy hour. Had a great time with our server Bryan.
We really enjoyed Father's day Brunch at Herbie's.
The restaurant is beautiful. Love all the old dark wood.
The food was delicious.
The service was excellent.
They're soda guns were down and for some reason they had not bought diet coke! :(
Diet coke is very popular drink so if that happens again I suggest buying a 24 pack of cans.
Other then that it was perfect!
Some time ago we had dinner at Herbie's and was not happy, so we were ask if we would give it another chance so we did on Saturday 15th of June and my wife and I were thrilled with the meal and the service which was outstanding. I would not hesitate to go back again and recommend to anybody that is thinking about trying this very good restaurant, bravo to Herbie's and the staff.
Walleye and halibut dinners were fine. The halibut was over-cooked. Service was very good; the servers were attentive but not over bearing. The maitre'd was very welcoming. The location is excellent and central to the downtown activities. We were in St. Paul to visit the museum of science; and wanted to eat an early dinner nearby.
One of the guest found a hair in her food. 🤢
Food was great and the spot is super cool. I would definitely go back.
Excellent food and service. I will definitely be booking a table again in the future.
Very tasty halibut with couscous. More roasted vegetables would have been nice.
We were a group of 5 and our waiter was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable re menu & drinks. Very enjoyable atmosphere. We're planning and look forward to our next firm HH there next Thursday.
The service was excellent and attentive. We ordered off the brunch menu and the food was excellent.
We made online reservations at Herbie's On The Park for Saturday at 9:30 pm for dinner. We received a call from the restaurant that afternoon to confirm our 9:30 pm seating. We confirmed and said that we might even be available at 9:00 pm, which they liked. We arrive at 9:00 pm and were told that they no longer serve dinner and were given a burger menu. They explained that they stop serving at dinner at 9:00 pm. I wish we were told this earlier in the day when they called. Naturally, we were disappointed and left for St. Paul Grill.
We took our two granddaughters here before a childrens event at the Ordway. The waitstaff were wonderful with the kids. The atmosphere was great. The food was a little expensive for the kids who didn't eat everything, but what can you expect with kids! Great that Herbies offers fruit, or greens with the kids meals, instead of just french fries. Overall great experience. We will be back!
Great location. We grabbed a bite before a performance at Ordway. Sat outside although interior is beautiful. Came at shift change so service was spotty first half of dining experience. Food very good. Certainly would go back.
We arrived Sunday at our reservation time and were told they were not serving food. We left felt it had been a waste of our evening, we even went back to open table and their website and saw no inclination that food would not be served at the time we went. We would appreciate the business making this information more accessible.
Very conveniently located for the Ordway.
The menu is somewhat limited and pricey.
We'd probably come back again, but not on a regular basis.
Excellent food and service! Look forward to coming again soon.
This was our first visit to Herbie's.
I didn't like my shrimp and grits: too runny, not fluffy, and too much "going on". Jalapeños are great, but I didn't like that they were pickled. And the mascarpone was interesting but not needed. Maybe I'm just too much of a purist about my grits!
My husband had the scallop pasta kudos to your mixologist.
Service was spot-on: quickly available when we needed, and the right amount of check-ins without being overbearing. And we really liked the atmosphere. We'll be back!
I am a season ticket holder for the Wild and also a subscriber at the Ordway so we go to Herbie‘s quite often. I was very disappointed with the service and the meal this evening and will definitely avoid Herbie’s in the future.
Dined alone on a business trip and was pleased with everything about this place. Even though it's kind of a sports bar, there were several great options for entrees. The salmon was superb!
A classic and classy place. The sandwich we had was wonderful as was the dessert. The wine was not good but was part of a $15 special with 2 glasses of a red wine and a lovely dessert. What a deal!
We decided to finally try eating there after the opera. It was very loud, so not a place for conversation. I ordered the Risotto, which was good, but not up to the price tag put on it. My mom ordered the Mac and Cheese and was equally unimpressed. Definitely a place for a younger more active group, just wasn't our cup of tea.
We went there before a concert at the Xcel Energy Center. Location was great for going to the concert. It was crowded as expected. Bar service was horrible even though we were sitting at seats right at the bar. The bartender ignored us completely a few times. Luckily a waitress getting drinks for one of her tables finally helped us. The reservation was about 30 minutes late. Once we finally got a table, the waiter was great and so were the burgers and pasta. Service was quick for the food.
Very noisy this time. Disappointed there wasn’t valet available.
Fun (and fancier) atmosphere to hang out at prior to an event at the Xcel Center. Unfortunately on Event Nights they have a smaller menu, and the drinks are expensive.
