Herbie's On The Park
Service was just ok. Food was expensive for the quality. Wouldn’t go again.
The atmosphere was great. The food was amazing. The service was exceptional. I can’t wait to return in the near future.
Loved the atmosphere, staff was friendly and helpful with menu selections.
Pork chop was tough. My guest's was late coming out, and was undercooked when he got it. The rest of us were half way finished with our meal before his came out. No concession was made. Desert was just so so.
Our waiter took our order and never came back except to give us our bill, other staff delivered our drinks and food. Waiter stated they were short staffed.
Three of our group had the bacon and blue burger and they really enjoyed them. I had a Caesar salad, which was delicious. I also had poutine. This was no more than fries with a couple of pieces of bacon and some sauce. This was not very good. We also thought $17 fir a burger and a few fries was excessive. Our waitress was wonderful and the ambience was nice.
I had a walleye roll where the walleye was all chopped up consistent with a roll. I had expected a filet of walleye which is customary in walleye sandwiches. I would have liked a wedge of lemon to liven things up. The witress was fine butnever came by again for me to ask for the lemon.
We have been there several times before and had a good experience. However this time they did not staff correctly for a crowd they should have planned for. A show at the excel center a show at the Orsway and the final four. Service was just adequate and so was the food.
Service was adequate but the food was tasteless. Salmon burger had no flavor at all and was missing the avocado that was listed on the menu. Macaroni and cheese was extremely dry and also tasteless. Bread pudding was average, nothing extraordinary. The salad with the salmon burger was very good, best thing we had. A gentleman who took our plates and inquired about our meal just laughed when we told him the food was pretty tasteless and could have at least used some salt. Not going back and would not recommend to anyone.....
We were able to be seated fairly quickly with our OpenTable reservation. The staff was very friendly and efficient. We ordered appetizers: Steak Bites, Deviled Eggs, Soup - Tomato Florentine, Walleye Cake, and Brussels Sprouts with Maple and Blue....all were delicious! We will definitely be going back to try the entrees which looked yummy, too!
Good food. Slow service. Noisy.
The waitress was wonderful. She added to the great experience. The food was fantastic. The only flaw was that it was a little too noisy.
Great meal, love the deviled eggs. Such a beautiful building.
Very good food, but more expensive than I thought it would be. Service not as attentive as I have come to expect at better restaurants.
Love the decor...classy! Sever was friendly, good recomendations.
Will come back again to enjoy the bar.
Herb Brooks would be proud of his namesake!🏒
Great food and atmosphere. The perfect place to eat before going to the Ordway!
Went with 2 other couples before a production of Spamalot.. they had Spam fries, weird but awesome. Service was a little slow as the waitress seemed overwhelmed and distracted. But overall loved the ambiance and food.
Everything was very good. We were disappointed to find out that Herbie’s has discontinued their valet parking service.
The apps and the entrees were excellent, but the desserts were off, the home made pie was terrible, I think it was supposed to be a take on banana cream but failed on both points.
Nice space in St. Paul. Fun environment. Close to event spaces. Walking distance from our hotel.
Herpes is always a good choice for pre-theater dining. You can have a small meal or a large dinner as you choose. The service is quick efficient and friendly. And the location can’t be beat.
We have the steak bites and green bean appetizers and they were delicious, What could have been warmer they were not temperature hot.
We also had the pork shank and there was enough meat mashed potatoes and green beans to have shared with another person.
We also had a wonderful server. She suggested the chocolate cake with butterscotch sauce and ice cream and my husband thought it was out of this world delicious! We told her my husband loved butter scotch and she went the extra mile and had a little extra sauce on the side for him!
The food and service were both fantastic. Location is great for an event at Xcel or the River Center.
Had the Herbie’s burger which was cooked to perfection and very tasty. Also had the scallops which were very good although the squid ink pasta would have been much better with less butter and more olive oil. The scallops, while very good, are way over priced. Considered the place and how they’re served, the price should reduced by $8-9.
We went there before a concert. It was very busy but the service was very slow. It was 10-15 minutes before we were greeted by the server. The martinis tasted like they were made in a shaker that wasn't washed properly from the previous drinks. We got our apps before the drinks. The food was not hot and not great. They gave us a discount only because my friend complained. The server was nice but seemed oblivious.
We had a great time. Atmosphere was great and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back for our next Wild Game.
Food and service were both excellent! Beautiful atmosphere.
What a lovely place! The food is deliciand reasonably priced for location. Right in the center of St Paul, in walking (or Ubering!) distance of so much, it's a low-key, beautifully appointed piece of elegance - with a fireplace.
We love going to Herbie's before events at the Ordway. We request a quiet table in the lobby of the Minnesota Club and are so pleased we avoid the hubbub of the bar area when there is a game or holiday event.
The vegetable sides are delicious. The Brussels Sprouts and curried cauliflower are my favorites! The Lamb stew could not have been better.
Rachel is an excellent waitperson. She took great care of us. We always receive terrific service at Herbie's, no matter how crowded it is.
ate before a concert and was a little later but server rushed our order to make thing fit. Good food... Herbie burger was super good. Limited menu but it fits the establishment. It is more fun in the summer months when you can sit out on their patio. Low key, great location for ordway or excel arena. WE always use the valet since it costs no more than the ramps and saves time and walking if the weather is bad.
Before concert dinner
I love the ambiance here and the food is very good. I usually have a good experience with the service but this time was a bit different. We ordered drinks and it took exceptionally long for our server to come back and tell us they were out of the liquor needed for the standard raspberry mule in their menu. I understand that happens but to wait 15-20 minutes just to find out they can’t make it was annoying. So we ordered something else and then waited another 10-15 minutes for that as well. We realized as we were ordering our food that we had different menus because food was being ordered by my friend that wasn’t on my menu so we didn’t get a chance to fully view the correct menus before we needed to order since we had a concert to attend. Again, usually the service and experience have been good but this time left much to be desired
Have been too Herbie’s after SPCO morning concerts for some time and have usually been pleased.
Friday 03/15,sunny morning, good table with a view, new staff? All ended then:
1.Wine selection good,as usual, but with one dirty glass.
2.Two orders of mushroom soup, two orders of chicken soup served.
3.Stale bread without butter.
4.One salad had to have 2 visits from server to add items not initially added to salad plate.
By time finished felt pity on server who appeared to know nothing and had not been trained.Clearly,we shall not be going there again, certainly not before the new management is able to learn.Incidentally, a new chef seems to have kept exactly the same menu as has been served for several years,
We have regularly gone to Herbie's from the Ordway for a couple of years. The food has continued to decline in quality, and is not worth the cost. We are going to change to a different restaurant. Specifically, there was little cauliflower in the cauliflower salad, and the bacon on the BLTs was raw and unedible, Cobb salad is soaked in dressing, etc. etc.
I have been to Herbie’s multiple times and always enjoyed our meals and the ambiance. I had the Herbie Burger again and it did not disappoint; the Cobb salad was the size of a side salad and didn’t satisfy for the dinner entree.
It is a very nice restaurant, but WAY too loud . . .
Great place if you are heading to the Xcel for an event. Fantastic service!
Delicious food and interesting drinks, beautiful decor.....ridiculously high noise level, plus cold and drafty. If you go, insist on dining in the back room! I will try that when I go again, but if it’s still as noisy, I’m afraid all the good food and service won’t make up for an uncomfortable experience.
Absolutely love Herbie's On The Park! Fantastic location, pleasant atmosphere, delicious food and amazing staff!!!
