Place was cute. Admittedly I’m pretty boujee about drinks and these were not good. I got their fancy version of a mojito and it was super sour. And I LOVE sour drinks, this was just way too much. Apps were weak, honey lavender butter was pretty but tasted like nothing and the charcuterie board was sad to say the least, although I come from Wisconsin so we have pretty badass charcuterie boards so maybe my standards are too high to have a useful opinion. This board seemed like a hodge podge of sand which toppings. Entrees were fine, nothing impressive and dessert was straight up bad. I was at dinner with 3 other girls who are big dessert people and we literally couldn’t finish the chocolate torte. Bitter in the worst way, odd texture. Overall the ambiance is great, but the food and drink is expensive and unimpressive.
The food is a bit bland and the menu cocktails were good but a bit simple given it’s a cocktail bar.
Excellent whiskey collection, knowledgeable bartenders
Food service drinks were excellent! Highly recommend hamachi, sardines, gnocchi. Servers wine knowledge added to our experience. We’ll be back!
Good late night find. Will go back again. More of a vegetarian lean to the menu, but some tasty portion options available.
The entire staff was so amazing and really went out of their way to make my sister's bachelorette party amazing! I am eternally grateful and they definitely earned a customer for life!
Have been to this place a few times now and it's never disappointed. Exquisite set of cocktails (try their Daiquiri and Cafe Manhattan) and small but well-curated selection of appetizers and entrees (highly recommend the Salmon and Oyster). I also recommend sitting outside (the patio).
Friendly staff, amazing food and cocktails! Highly recommend!!
Food was amazing. The white lasagna was so good. So was the salmon. Everything was excellent. Service was a little slow but manageable. Love the ambiance. Will definitely be back.
Dinner with co-workers. Everyone had nothing about great things to say. The service was perfect, never having to wait to ask for something as our server, Emily, was very attentive. The food was definitely 5-stars. The chef even came out and said hello to the group. I've been there before and had the smoky eggplant lasagna. They have a summer lasagna now which equally is delicious even having a smoky undertone. I can't tell you the number of different drinks that were ordered but our bar tab was equal to our food tab. Each was uniquely presented. Again, our server was very knowledgeable on the drinks and very helpful.
Loved the atmosphere and the people, and some of the food was delicious, but two of the items were just... not good. Bread and butter (which we did pay for) was stale, like a couple of days old, and reheated to dry it out even more. The lamb had been burned to charcoal and it wasn't even close to warm when it arrived. A little more quality control in the kitchen would make this place so much better.
Best cocktails!! Our server was over the top great!
A lovely early dinner. We were given excellent recommendations and enjoyed every dish.
Went for dinner with a group of friends. The gal that was serving us was friendly but overworked (expected with covid). However, wait times from ordering to asking for the check took far too long, and the drinks were pretty bad, so we ended up leaving after one drink and getting dinner elsewhere. Wouldn't recommend
Very good and we would definitely come back. Food was a bit slower as kitchen got slammed, but they let us know and acknowledged it. We had a ferry to catch and inhaled our food when it arrived, the fried gnocchi was amazing. Pork Hock very good too. Outdoor dining on a covered back patio.
Superb dining. The highlight was talking to the chef -- Robert Koch -- who is another Jersey guy! Thank you!
Leaving less-than-enthusiastic reviews, well, I don't do it often. One problem was that the food was not to my taste. That's partially on me. My food was so oily that the server brought extra napkins for where it overflowed my plate. Happy hour didn't work. My list price $8 beer, presumably with $2 HH discount was billed at $9. There was also a presumption that I would have a smart phone (with local service) to "scan" the menu.
Keep in mind: none of this reflects poorly on the service, which was fine.
Great ambiance and food! Loved the cocktails and superb service start to finish!
Our first time here. Would definitely come back!!
Super fun for a Family get together. Comfortable big booths, tasty menu with NW specialties, and not too many selections. Just perfect. Creative, tasty drinks. And finally - good service from a very busy staff!
This was the best spot ever! A very interesting atmosphere! Front of the restaurant is warm and dim while the back is full of natural light! The staff is incredible! The sweet bartender can absolutely read your mind and makes you feel like a family friend and the chef, well he deserves a great big hug! The saffron arranchini were perfectly cooked. Fried crisp with the right amount of heat! This spot is what we needed to round out a great weekend in Seattle! The Murphy girls left grinning!
Overall very disappointing. The cocktails were watered down and overly sweet. Food was meh. Would not recommend or return.
Fresh and light food, unique drinks, beautiful ambiance!
The return to bar visits is coming and Herb and Bitter will be here for you. Lovely cocktails and great service. I didn't feel guilty taking up a table for only a couple of drinks as I'd beaten the rush and the place had few patrons. Can't wait to return when the actual bar is allowed again!
As always, great food and awesome service. The cocktail drinks are a must.
Love the glass roof that provides a lot of natural light into the room. Great cocktails and food
Amazing experience, great food, drinks and parking was very assessable. Will totally be going again in the near future!
The food was really good and healthy! Quite a few vegan options
Waitresses first night and she did great. Yummy food, bartenders whimsy was a great surprise
The cocktails and food were great plus it's has both an indoor and outdoor area that are both really nice.
Great food, tasty drinks, and good environment.
Love everything about the place. Drinks and food were amazing. I liked that they had something for everyone. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
From our warm welcome by the manager Scotty and the attention we received from what appeared to be the entire staff, I cannot say enough about our new discovery in Seattle/Capital Hill dining. I would rate the service as one of the best. This can't underplay the exceptional flavor of the food. Each dish was abounding with flavor. As the food was brought to the table, the aroma set the stage. The menu had plenty of choices to suit different appetities so we will be back and try other dishes. Thank you Kaila, Sierra and Emily for your service.
The front of the restaurant seemed to have a nice atmosphere. The “add on” back part of the restaurant was too bright and felt like people were crammed in even during these times of Covid.
There were too many different staff waiting on our table- seriously about 5 which felt strange.
We ordered cocktails first. They brought me the wrong one. It was quickly replaced and I was told “the tickets got switched” low and behold the table next to us received my first drink a few minutes later- again interesting given covid.
The charcuterie plate was lackluster with small portions of Brie and manchego along with fatty prosciutto.
The gnocchi was so mushy and lacked flavor. We asked fo chili flake to give it some pep.
The porcini butter tasted waxy. I know we had a few other plates, but I forget what they were because they were quite dull. I would not return.
I sat for almost 15 minutes without anyone taking my drink order. I had to stop a server and ask if we could order. Once we got service the service was phenomenal. The food is tastes fresh and is good... just slightly bland. The cocktails are delicious. Restaurant has a great atmosphere.
Great drinks and a wonderful outside space. We had tapas and really enjoyed all the different tastes!
Got the ribs and my friend got the pork shank. Both of our meats tasted underseasoned/ under-marinated - it was disappointing. There was too much time waiting on the waiter to come help us, we had about 4-5 different wait staff, some friendly, some not, it was just a weird vibe.
Great menu and excellent food. We had several vegetarians in our group and there was a broad selection of veg entrees and apps. We were a big group of 9 people and everyone was really happy with the food- the chef even came out to our table to say hello.
The service was great! They were very accommodating to our larger group. Thanks everyone, we’ll be back!
Went with a group of friends and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Open space, great drinks, tasty food. Delicious cucumber water. We had an amazing time!
I love coming to Herb & Bitter.
The drinks are always fantastic!
