Herb & Bitter Public House
The comprehensive spirits program is progressive and centered around Italian Amari. The overall menu concept is diverse and eclectic with a nod to Spanish style cuisine seasonal plates . We also incorporate other Mediterranean cuisines and world flavors into dishes that are house-made with as many local, and sustainable ingredients as possible; taking into consideration dietary needs such as gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan.

Herb & Bitter is a classier bar in Northern Cap Hill. The patio is great, and the tapas are good too.
Super cool atmosphere and great drink selection for both cocktails and craft beer. The food menu was a bit limited, and it was unique for sure. They seemed a bit understaffed which made it tough to get timely service.
Service was outstanding and so were the cocktails!! Nailed it on a big group too!
Such a cool spot! Will be back!
The back area is a solarium and a bit cool in the winter. But otherwise we enjoyed it. The Mascarpone donuts were wicked and only $5!
One of my favorite bar menus in Capital Hill. Drinks and dinner are delightful, and it's not too loud.
Had a great experience and dinner.
I dig the vibe of this place. The food was good enough. Service was excellent. And the drinks were fun!
Food was pretty bland - even the dishes the server told us would be very flavorful. Kitchen was really backed up - were told it would be at least 15 minutes before they started cooking our meals. When they can out they weren't cold but they weren't hot either. Won't be back.
The food was not as good as the last few times I have been. Everything was either too salty or too watery and bland.
Arrived at 4 with my group of 4 and an infant. Sat in the back where we had plenty of room. We enjoyed all the drinks and ate off the happy hour menu. It was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed the music selection. Service was also efficient.
Such a cool place! I cane here with a big group of friends and they were very accommodating. I love the plants, the cool menus and the ambiance
I took my husband here for a pre 40th birthday dinner drink. My husband loves a well made cocktail and this place got great reviews online. It did not disappoint! Both our drinks were great!!!!!!! Very well made and great mixes. The service was great and nice to have such a great first cocktail post delivery of our baby 4 weeks prior. Baby was with us too and 4:30-5:30pm on a Sunday was perfect for having a one month old with us as was nice and quiet at the restaurant.
What a wonderful night at Herb & Bitter. The cocktails here are amazing! They can make literally anything you might like. The service was okay but its a little to be expected on NYE. I would absolutely recommend and go back time and time again.
One of my favorite cocktail bars in Seattle with amazing food to boot.
My wife’s BD-dinner was delicious. Took waitress took too many pauses to bring drinks and appetizers. We had to remind her twice. Other than that I was hoping to get a better table not so close to big party room behind us. I ask specifically when I made a reservation. I understand these things happen-overall beautiful people and great place to go and enjoy the evening.
The food was unimpressive with small portion sizing and a lack in presentation. The hostess, who happened to also be our server, had no personality and simply was going through the motions. She was not knowledgeable about the menu at all and simply suggested the first thing we inquired about without offering any reasoning. Not bad, but not great.
Herb & Bitter never disappoints. If you like unique and original cocktails, you will find them in their 'Golden Books' of libations. If you feel 'whimsical', their bartender will accommodate your whimsy. Add to cocktails their assortment of chrcuteria, mixed olives, cheese plate, and portobello & procini croquettas.....life is good!
Very unique atmosphere with great food. Staff was very friendly and welcoming.
I just feel like the easiest way to undermine a good experience is to display a lack of warmth, or connection, while also making guests feel rushed, or herded towards the exit, without even offering an after dinner drink, or dessert for that matter.
I'll leave it there, but I could go on.
We keep coming back thanks to all of the above. Herb & Bitter's unique and original cocktails are not only delectable, but presentation delightful. If you want to try something really original, they will accommodate you and care is taken to create something based on what you like. We often share appetizers from their unique menu that compliments our herb and bitter creations.
Great Capitol Hill bar and restaurant. It would be nice to see a few more food items but, otherwise, this is a great place.
Great spot to share plates and reconnect with folks
Love this place for a cocktail - probably won't return for a full meal with a group. Great cheese and charcuterie, decent salmon croquettes. Pickles were "eh" but the warm olives were delicious. The wagyu sliders are a mediterranean version, full of mint - not what we expected. Or wanted. Fries were dry and mealy. Food service was friendly. Bar service was super slow and, as is common in hipster bars on the hill, borderline rude. Kind of a shame since the actual bar itself is really pretty.
Loved it, great food, service and overall value. The outdoor seating area is less attractive than the main area
Charming atmosphere with friendly service and delightful food. The bartenders even personally deliver drinks to your table with an enchanting smile. Bon appétit!
Very warm, cozy ambiance and extensive wine and spirits menu. Excellent food and wonderful service. A rare gem.
Food is AMAZING!! The lentil fritters and fried halloumi are a MUST!
Very nice cocktails. The food was solid but not exceptional. The pork belly was really tasty but a bit tough. The pickled vegetables had a single note of vinegar. Excellent caramelized turnips and rhubarb compote with the pork.
It was lit
Great for groups. The outdoor seating was perfect for the weather
I’m in love with this bar. It’s one of my go-to places for date night, girl hangouts, birthdays, get togethers, and other special occasions. Their drinks are so good and reasonably priced. I really like their happy hour. The back patio is one of my favorite places in Seattle to just kick back and relax with friends. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a low key bar with good drinks and nice ambiance.
Best drinks in Seattle in my experience. Beautiful sun room dining with a slide open roof in fair weather. Beautiful place, excellent food and drink, I love it every time.
Terrific cocktail and other liquid offerings, especially the amaro flights; interesting well-made cocktails; prompt personable service; nice well-prepared small plates (salmon croquettes very tasty but need a sauce; pappardelle with rabbit bolognese kind of shy on rabbit, but otherwise good; marcona almonds could have used some salt and herbs or some toasting). Only quibble was that the help seemed over-eager to clear away. We felt we were being rushed. Admittedly we were a little unhurried, but what’s a bar for? And there were plenty of tables so we weren’t keeping anyone from being seated. Liked the decor, and the bar section has a cozy feel. A nice time. Been there before and will go again. Oh, and we thought the music level was too high initially for conversation, asked them to turn it down and they obliged.
I love this place. The drinks are always great, as is the food. It’s my go-to when I want something really good and don’t want to have to think about it too much.
Great location w/ easy parking across the street. Loved the food and drinks. Service wass very attentive w/ a good sense of humor.
Herb & Bitter Public House is a pretty cool venue if your date isn't used to outstanding food and service. The Capitol Hill location has a great vibe and the venue is bustling; it's a good place to people-watch. Unfortunately the service is spotty - OUR service was attentive, but we observed two other tables visibly upset, justifiably, at being essentially ignored, e.g., a couple walked in with us and our 90-minute meal was nearly finished by the time they got their starters, and not for their own delay. The food itself was interesting, but we found each plate lacking balance: pick one note - sour, salty, sweet, bitter, spicy - and that note dominated. Balsamic vinegar, for instance, should accentuate the primary flavor of the plate, not the other way around. You won't go wrong if you're looking for a fun place to "get your bang for your buck," and they've put some thought into their decor. Fun restaurant. Foodies? This may not be your first option.
Seattle/Capitol Hill has a lot of eclectic gathering places, but over the past couple of years, our 'go to' happy hour meeting place has been Herb & Bitter. Their servers are not just servers, they are amazing cocktail specialists who can suggest drinks made to your enjoyment or create something that expands your knowledge and taste buds. Speaking of which, we often order (family style) the charcuteria, mixed olives, sauteed mushrooms and other seasonal plates that go well with our cocktails. Everyone makes us feel at home and takes very good care of us. Why would we go anywhere else?
First time, tried a little bit of everything...Happy hour, small plates, main plate and dessert. Everything was solid, service was friendly, younger bar scene, would definitely return.
Really great ambiance, awesome patio, great drinks, wonderful food. Service was fine, could've been more personal and smiley, but that's typical in Capitol Hill. Highly recommend!
The cocktails. (carefully prepared and perfect)
The palenta Ccakes.
The asparagus with burratta. (delicious!)
The space. (Open and warm.)
What did not work.
The service (unpleasant, and most off-putting)
The "Paella" (chicken and rice would be a better descriptor)
The threat of a $50 penalty for a cancelled reservation (silly)
