Her Father's Cider Bar + Kitchen
Located in the heart of downtown Toronto in the historic Harbord Village, Her Father's Cider Bar + Kitchen offers a selection of 100+ ciders from Ontario and the world, making it Toronto's premier destination for cider lovers! Dinner and brunch menus offer refined, local, and seasonal selections drawing from Ontario's rich culinary traditions.
Wonderful experience. Great menu that caters to anyone’s needs easily, the food is delicious, drinks are great and service is wonderful.
Inventive menu and cozy space. The cider list is naturally lengthy but the offering of flights allows you to try a bunch if you can’t decide on just one. Service staff was friendly and knowledgeable. One tiny complaint was being told by the hostess not ten seconds after being seated that they’d “probably need our table in an hour and 45 minutes”, essentially putting a timer on our experience from the first moment, which was supposed to be a relaxed night out to celebrate a birthday. As we were not late for our reservation, this seemed unnecessary. Also, try to avoid being seated near the door unless you don’t mind a cold blast of winter air every time anyone goes in and out of the door. For these reasons I’d try it again in the summertime as I recall my summer patio experience being more relaxed and comfortable.
Expensive place for not much value. Many different ciders but that is all I would go for.
The diner date was booked for Feb 15. I booked because the place looked interesting, I liked the idea of tasting different ciders and the menu in open table looked good. When we arrived at the restaurant we found out they were continuing their Valentines menu, so it was a pre fix menu with a very much reduced a la cart menu. This was very disappointing. If I would have know they were continuing their Valentines menu I would not have booked.
Great cider selection. There are options to do flights of three so you can try a bunch. The food, particularly the raclette was a bit disappointing as it was mostly potatoes and baby gherkins and the meat addition were a few slices of chorizo with mustard. Wish it was more integrated with the dish. Brussel sprouts and mushroom duxelles were delish!
Would definitely recommend! The Brussels sprouts were amazing. Good service , food and prices. And alllll the cider.
Amazing place overall - had been for brunch before and was so pleased, but went for a friend's birthday dinner recently and it was even better. The ambiance is hip and relaxed, there's great music playing, you can hear yourself and your friends talk and the food and drinks are sophisticated but simplistic. Want to sit at the bar next time because it's such a cool vibe. Will be back!
Lots of gluten free options, great date spot, and my favourite fried chicken in the city
Her Father's Cider Bar is one of our favourite places to go. It's cozy, welcoming, and has incredible cider and food. The service is always on point. It's a great place for brunch or a relaxing evening. Thank you for such amazing experiences!
The cider flights are a great way to try local brews, as well as explore the cider menu more in depth. The service is always incredible.
Nice place. Food is good but needs to be better on delivery and temperature at delivery. Poutine was light on gravy and flavours.
Short ribs were very good.
Cider menu is good.
Amazing selection of ciders! They have Cider flights for 12$ - which is a great deal. Service was decent - nothing special. Can't speak for the food, we didn't get anything but it makes you select a star amount.
Great experience! Food, service and ambience was exceptional.
We went to Her Father's Cider Bar + Kitchen for my fiance's birthday dinner with two other friends, and we had a great time! We ordered flights and loved the cider selection. The staff was very knowledgable and friendly, willing to talk us through the full list of ciders on tap and help us make selections. The food was delicious and very sharable, which was perfect for our group of 4. The place has a cool vibe, not too loud to talk, and really cozy. We all left very happy and would love to come back!!
The cider is amazing. Recommend the flights. The food was a revelation! Still dreaming of the winter vegetable chili! Our guests enjoyed every choice. Fish cooked perfectly. Cabbage rolls incredibly tasty (although the cabbage could have been steamed a bit more.) Tacos were fabulous. Best evening out in a long time.
There’s simply nowhere else like it. This place has a wall of ciders. Diners can enjoy them by the glass , bottle or in flights of three. I recommended the latter to get better acquainted with a sophisticated alcohol beverage that many have never even tasted. Food is also very good.
Wonderful food and cider!! Had never tried cider so it was a great introduction to it.
Quite enjoyed this place especially the extensive cider menu. I will definitely be back again.
I also really liked the chickpea fries and artic char.
Service was great. Didn't feel rushed or ignored - just the right amount of attention.
It's become one of our 'go-to' places now. Yummy, creative comfort food, and the charming Aussie servers are tops!
Cider flights are great as usual and the burger was really good as well
Servers were attentive and very sweet. Water was always filled, coffee was always offered for refill. They even split drinks for us in two glasses to share!
The food and the space was just perfect.
Never disappointed when I dine and drink here. Great, knowledgeable, and friendly staff can help you navigate the massive cider listings and make recommendations. Rotating taps always have lots of variety and unique brews. The food is great and the menu changes frequently enough that it’s not repetitive or boring.
Food took a really long time to arrive. Service slow, but friendly.
One of my favourite restaurants in Toronto! Great and frequently changing options!
I'm in this neighbourhood often and was happy to discover this spot which is new to me. Wednesday I had a good time here, but Friday was terrible. This will be my last time eating here.
As a celiac this place is my new go to haunt. The foods amazing, the cider selection is out of this world, and the service is genuine.
This evening was great. Our server was very friendly and explained dishes, drinks and answered all questions. Very knowledgeable and courteous. We were all greeted with warmth and a smile. Best service I’ve had in Toronto. Food was good, atmosphere relaxing and enjoyable. No need to yell to talk to each other. Will definitely go back. They even took the cake I had brought to have at home afterwards and served it with candles. We didn’t ask, they served it and it was a nice surprise and they didn’t charge for it either. Something none of us were expecting but truly appreciated. Kudos to all of the staff there
Had a great evening. Great venue, great server. The food was creative and tasty and the ciders were interesting and consumed easily :)
Delicious and creative food, great cider selection, fabulous service. Will definitely go again.
Always excellent food with a menu that frequently changes to follow the seasons. And a mind-boggling selection of ciders, including a dozen on tap that change frequently, too.
Her Father's is always reliably good in terms of food and service. Sometimes both the food and service are even outstanding and creative. I feel comfortable inviting friends and clients to join me here.
Everything was fine: food, service, cider and prices. I had made a reservation a few days ahead of time and as I was running a little late a dropped my 23 year old son off so we would not lose our table (he was there promptly). For reasons known only to the person in charge of seating we were put in the windowless back room notwithstanding an abunance of seating in the happening main dining room. Too bad; likely enough to make me not return. We’ll see.
The tables are very close together so it is disruptive for whoever is sitting on the aisle side of the table as servers and other guest are trying to squeeze by all the time.
The servers were either gone for too long or all available at the same time. An example of what I mean by that is that we waited for 7-10 min for someone to come and take our drink order, and then after or order was taken 2 more servers came to our table to ask if we wanted to order drinks.
I will say the servers were very enthusiastic about making suggestions on what to try from their extensive list of ciders. They were knowledgeable and passionate, which always makes a big impact in a positive way.
We came here for a friends birthday dinner and We had an amazing time. The food was wonderful and the service was impeccable. Can’t wait to be back!!
Amazing cider variety (local and international) and food (EVERY ITEM we shared was amazing). Chic, modern but cozy atmosphere and quiet enough to talk with your guests. Awesome, relaxed server with great recommendations. Will certainly be coming back.
Great concept restaurant. An amazing variety of ciders and staff with total capacity to explain and guide choices. Food was very good, with a nice mix of starters and mains...allowing flexibility for guests (e.g., two starters work very well instead of a starter and a main).
The flight of ciders was a great opportunity to taste and enjoy a beverage class that has been too long neglected.
We've been here multiple times. Always good, with a rotating seasonal menu that keeps things fresh and interesting. Great, attentive and knowledgeable service
Went there on a date with my girlfriend and left a note that it was her Birthday on OpenTable. Usually I don't expect anything to come of those notes but our server took it to the next level and took awesome care of us the second we sat down.
The atmosphere is casual but old-school and modern at the same time. Nicely dimmed during dinner for a casual hangout with friends or a date with a loved one, any occasion fits really.
Food was delicious and the portions were bigger than we expected! Too full to finish the duck confit nachos, crispy brussel sprouts and mac and cheese nuggets. Will definitely come back to taste more food.
But we can't forget about that cider list. There was so many to choose from it was overwhelming but our server recommended some very tasty ones that are locally made in Ontario. Highly recommend trying the Tawse Sparking Cider.
Will be coming back and definitely recommend visiting this spot!
