Henry's at the Farm Ratings and Reviews
We stayed at Buttermilk from Friday to Sunday and ended up eating here three times. I don't usually bother writing reviews, but the experience was outstanding enough to do so. The cheddar soup, farm salad, rabbit appetizer, lamb, and filet were all incredible. The staff and service was friendly and helpful at picking out a wonderful bottle of wine. I live in NYC and this is one of the best meals I've ever been to. Great value.
While we loved the atmosphere and had fantastic service, the food was disappointing. Five people in the party had the steak from the Restaurant Week menu and one person had the chicken. The steak of one person was very tough and everyone thought the steak could have used more seasoning or at least more of a sauce to accompany it. The one person who had the chicken liked their dish but was not blown away by it.
We had a great evening with great friends and excellent food. We had the Flatbread, Filet Mignon, Lobster Ravioli and a Burger and each and every one of us was very happy with our meal. Krystyn (sp.) was a great waitress. She was happy, joked around with us and her service was excellent as well.
Thanks for a great night.
We went to Henry's for lunch during restaurant week. The food was excellent and very enjoyable and our server was very friendly and cooperative d(separate checks). But unfortunately although we were seated for a 12:45 reservation, it was after 2 before we got appetizers and we finished dessert at 4:00. I have eaten here before and not had this problem so I tried not to get upset. I would come back. Unfortunately many of my party of 10 said they would not come back due to the length of time. Obviously no one was interested in dinner, after finishing lunch at 4:00. I am chalking it up to some sort of glitch and would try Henry's again.
I visited the spa at Henry's and was very pleased with everything. So when it was HVRWeek I invited my friends to lunch. Unfortunately it was not what I expected. The service was very slow and the waitress ignored our table. No coming to fill water glasses, no asking how we were doing, no apology for the extremely long wait. On the positive side everyone thought the meal good. I went to dinner on Saturday at another HVRWeek restaurant and had an absolutely wonderful meal. Service was excellent from the minute we sat down. The waiter and staff were very attentive to our requests. The restaurant was just as busy as Henry's, but they seemed ready to handle it.
I will try Henry's again and hope for a better experience.
This restaurant was part of the Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. At $34 per person it was a real find! Choice of 4 appetizers, 4 entrees and 2 desserts. Our dinners were very good, service very friendly. Regular menu looked interesting and we are looking forward to returning.
I was not wowed by the food or the specialty cocktail. I had the duck breast and the skin was fatty and not crispy and my husband had the osso Bucco and some parts were very tough. Unfortunately not worth the money. Also the room was very noisy. The server was friendly and just the right amount of attentive. I don't know if we would make the 45 minute trip and spend about $80/person for this place again.
The meal was perfect from beginning to end. Our server Peter was delightful and engaging; from salad to osso buco to apple crisp, I enjoyed every mouthful. A bonus was that the evening was beautiful and we enjoyed wandering the grounds of the Inn and Spa before our meal.
I have been going to Henry's for some time and the complaint I have is not about the food or the staff but the owners. They are usually there when I have gone and most of the time they do things that make me feel they are clueless about customer service. Many years ago, they let their child run back and forth into the bar area and the bartender they had would do her best to serve drinks and "babysit". On several occasions I saw their child eating food off of the chairs and once their child was actually kicking me as they were sprawled out on the seat next to me. They did nothing to address this and never said a word to their child. We ended up moving to another table and they could care less. This time, they kept the waitress at their table for a long time while all of us sat and waited for her to finish with their order. I had planned on ordering desert and tea but it took so long for her to get back to us we decided to leave. This wasn't the waitresses fault at all but theirs. Maybe it's me but I feel as the owner you should be encouraging your staff to wait on paying customers instead of yourself.
Henry's was wonderful! Every dish was skillfully prepared using innovative ingredients. The salmon was among the best I have ever had - flavorful, crispy and moist. Service exceeded our expectations. When asked if we would like additional bread, the waiter replaced the few slices that remained with a new loaf of warm bread at no extra charge. We will definitely make a side trip to Henry's on our next trip to the Hudson Valley.
I flew from Florida for my sister’s birthday. Booked this restaurant because of the wonderful reviews I read. Unfortunately, my experience at this restaurant was far from pleasant. Arrived 15 minutes before our reservation. We were seated, ordered a bottle of wine and then appetizers and entrees. Wine was served and appetizers came out quickly. After appetizers, started waiting for our entrees. One hour later( yes, 1 hr) we were still waiting. The waitress never came to our table to tell us our food was delayed. I finally stopped her as she was passing by and she said food would be right out. 15 minutes later, the food came to table. This was my sister’s birthday dinner. She ordersd the filet. The food was cold and my entree was not correct I ordered a braised rabbit entree and got a rabbit appetizer instead. Told waitress the order was incorrect and that my sisters was cold. In summary, never received our food and after waiting another 20 minutes requested the check and left. This was the worst food experience of my life. Will never recommend this place to anyone. They need a lesson in service recovery
Very good food and pleasant ambience.
Helps to have GPS to find it, particularly night-time. Signage at the roadway is small and hard to see, in particular coming from Midleton Tpk direction. Don't recall seeing signs on 9W showing where to turn into the side street.
Second floor restaurant with no elevator or ramp.
Food was excellent, waitress did a great job with NOT rushing us. The only problem was
a group of 20 people sitting next to us, so it was load and disturbing. Also the big room could
have some separation between tables to make it a nicer atmosphere.
The grounds and tails by the way were also phantastic.
I was very excited to go there for the first time for my birthday on Sunday. Once there it was a little tricky finding the restaurant on the grounds. Not hadicap friendly as elderly folks had a hard time with the stairs. I wasn't expecting how small the dining area was actually. The tables were quite crammed together. It was quite loud so we opted to sit out on the deck. This was a good choice much quieter and a more relaxing atmosphere. My niece and I ordered our food I ordered the filet which sounded wonderful and cooked rare. She got some sort of pasta dish with cheese and she really enjoyed it. Me however I was a little disappointed with not so much flavoring. The onions were lacking, the sauce on it didn't stand out in taste and my steak was blue rare. Meaning the inside was in some parts almost Raw. I don't like to return my food especially steak because once it's cooked it will be over done at this point. So I made do with what I had however that plate was quite expensive. I have definitely had more tastier flavorful filet mignon dishes at other fine restaurants that basically blew the doors off of this one. I was actually expecting more than what I received. The wait staff was very young. Although they were very nice don't get me wrong. They were very rushed and seem to be running out of a lot of things from hearing from other tables near us. So after dinner I was interested in maybe having a dessert. As we got passed by many times after given the dessert menu. Enough time had elapsed to where I was just like forget it and let's just have the check. The girl brought out the check and when she returned it didn't leave us a pen. So waited some more time and finally we got another waitress to give up her pen. I am willing to give this restaurant one more try but my first impression was not the greatest. I give it 3 1/2 overall stars..
Beautiful view & delicious cuisine! Creative cocktails & delightful wine list . We had as appetizer the clam chowder & steamed mussels . For the main course , the lobster ravioli & the lamb . Home made Apple cobbler for dessert. Yum! All the dishes were amazing ! We will definitely be back later this season ❤️🍷🍁
Great food and super friendly service. Very cozy and pretty restaurant. The fall vegetable risotto was amazing and the lamb was delicious. Roasted beet salad was also a favorite. Great cocktails and really large portions. We thought the value and prices were great. We would definitely come back again.
This was our first time at Henry's but certainly not our last. AMAZING service, wonderful and reasonably-priced wine list, organic/local/grown-there ingredients combined in delicious and innovative ways. Salads are fresh, interesting and big enough to share. Bouillabaisse was a little overcooked/dry but flavorful and generous. Get the scallops to start -- they are life-changing! We are also looking forward to checking out the inn and spa on our next trip to this beautiful property.
Food was well prepared , and beautifully arranged . The scallops were amazing !
We hike in the area and this was the first time there . Grounds are gorgeous , like something out of a Monet paining !
One MUST visit the gardens ( farm to table )
and the animals by the barns !
