Better at lunch than dinner, but still good at dinner.
The ambience is classic but experience underwhelming. The restaurant wasn't crowded Sunday mid-morning but service was slow/distracted. The staff recognized the need for water refills and apparently forgot.. multiple times. Further request for water and coffee refill was lethargic.
Presentation and taste were average. The overall expectation is higher at this premium price point.
My grouper was over cooked. Service was really slow.
We really used to enjoy Henrietta’s, but it’s changed.
My husband and I went with out of town guests - we didn't go to take advantage of restaurant week, but once there decided the special menu looked good. We all had the crab fritters, two of us had the scallops and everyone had peach melba for dessert. We were well pleased with our selections; the food was good and presented nicely. I would have to say, that of the 3 courses, dessert was the least of them. It wasn't bad but it wasn't particularly enticing. A little too dry, a little too lacking in fruit flavor. All in all, though, a
great value for the money.
The only disappointment for us was the dining room. Billed as "French Bistro", it felt more like they are just trying to save money by not laundering table clothes. The chef seemed to outclass his surroundings. I suggest management think about upping their decor some. Not a place I'd go for a special event, but would go back for pre-theater dinner, etc.
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The food was excellent. The wine pairings also were very complimentary of the foods. Look forward to a return visit!
The hostess and our server was very polite and professional. My wife and had breakfast. The food was delicious.
Not the best meal we have had in Charleston... We arrived a bit late 9:15, the bread was stale, Burrata had too much vinegar, and my coffee at the end was cold. The scallops and steak were good, but just not a memorable meal.
We have lived in Charleston area for six years but had not dined at Henrietta's. Recommended by a neighbor, we were delighted with our experience. First positive touch was valet parking. Service was excellent --professional and gracious. We enjoyed RI oysters, a frisee salad and split surf & turf. All enhanced with a sauvignon blanc and a pinot noir (both France). Finished with signature deep dish dessert of peaches, blueberries and peach ice cream.
I usually don't like to give reviews unless I love it, but I was expecting a little more from this high priced hotel. I found the menu to be limited in selections and the drinks over priced, especially for lunch. It would be nice if they had white tablecloths to give the restaurant a step up and add elegance to what is supposed to be a higher end hotel. The staff was friendly and the inside of the hotel was very nice. They just need to step up their game with white tablecloths and a broader menu. I would think that they would want to attract more than just their hotel guests to bring in business. I'd give it a second chance if they made adjustments.
Great lunch and wonderful service from Jamie.
Great place for brunch in a stunning hotel. Our server, Anwar was wonderful. He even ran after us when we left because my husband had left his credit card. Great outdoor area for when the weather gets a bit cooler.
Ah, Henrietta’s. Maybe I was too optimistic. Perhaps I was wrapped up in the romance of Old Charleston, and got carried away with my expectations. Maybe it was just an ordinary Saturday morning in August, and I was wrong to think I might get a breakfast that would give me fond memories of an idyllic stay in this wonderful city.
But Henrietta’s - in the version with which I was presented on my visit - is not special, or unique. It has a limited menu with items that any reasonable cook could make without referring to a cookbook or going online.
The waitstaff is inattentive, exceedingly soft-spoken to the point of appearing embarrassed, and slow to check in on you. I ran out of coffee three times - and I’m not a big caffeine-fiend - and was clamoring for water as well.
Then, as I was sitting there - using cell data because they kept the WiFi password like a state-secret - I was notified that Henrietta’s had cancelled my Open Table reservation!!!
Well, I guess that explains the poor service!
One of our favorite lunch places. Everything we have ever ordered has been well prepared
Chicken and house salad are fantastic!!!!
Food was very good. Service was great. The atmosphere was very plain. No linen tablecloth’s.
Another wonderful meal at Henrietta’s!!
Lovely room. M0st people dressed appropriately. Pleasant experience. food well prepared and presented. waitstaff knowledgeable.
Everything we ate and drank was amazing. The catch of the day was grouper with succotash and we also have the beet and burrata salad. All were perfectly portioned and seasoned. My husband has the steak frites and his was delicious
At the lobster omelette and it was delicious. Service was great. Breads. were fantastic.
Limited breakfast menu. Service was lacking despite there not being many customers for breakfast. Had to ask multiple times for coffee refill. Staff seemed unhappy about having to serve an 8-person group with split checks despite the restaurant not having any policy against such accommodations. Checks brought out and waitress waited on people in our party to produce payment despite clearly still dining and talking. Poor service overall and subpar for a restaurant of its self-acclaimed prestige.
Celebrating wife’s birthday. Took about 30 minutes to get order, which we thought was unusual.
Celebrating wife’s birthday.
Amazing service, delicious food.
Banana bread French toast was amazing.
Food was good but not great. Service was good, ambiance was good
Only 4 people
Very elegant experience and delicious food. The cocktails and wines were excellent as was the service.
Fantastic food and great service!! Chef Enio is stellar! Thanks for a special night
Service not knowledgeable, ambiance non existent, food unmemorable. Meh. Waste of $200.
Dinner was good, I had an appetizer selection for my entree and it was barely warm so I think it was made too early. The service was wonderful AK was very attentive as was all the staff! Dessert was lovely as well. Just felt it was a very limited menu but liked local sources and freshness of food. Will return for another night at the theater.
Great place to sit on patio or before a theater show. Would recommend serving martinis in larger glasses. The small gimlet glasses leave a customer feeling slighted. Maybe recommend adding a Chablis wine to the menu.
Only person in the restaurant. 40 minutes and a reminder to the wait staff that I has not been received my meal.
Had to send the egg back (cooked to rubber). Shrimp and grits with a sweet bbq sauce missed the mark. Grits were like paste.
Mgr did comp the meal. Would never return
Gross. The hamburger was loaded with a gross onion ring. I do not recommend this dive.
Service staff was great. Dining room is REALLY noisy. Hard to hear people at your own table even when speaking up. Food was just OK. Nothing special in a town of superb food. We were served vichyssoise as a "muse" served in shot glasses, but it was too thick to "shoot" and it came with no spoons, so we tried forks and gave up. All the vegetables were good except the potato cake which was not crisp but more like mushy hashbrowns with a ton of rosemary. It overwhelmed the delicate taste of the tiny amount of lobster that came with the surf and turf. Staff was really great tho.
Outside of the deviled eggs and mussels, the food was bland, lacked flavor, and overall unsatisfying. The catch of the day was very underwhelming, as the Grouper is a notoriously great entree, but it was slightly overcooked, unseasoned, and paired with bland beans. Server was terrific, and overall customer service was great.
We would not recommend it. There are many better restaurants in Charleston.
Breakfast was good- but unfortunately, it was not anything special. The coffee cake was delicious but breakfast seemed like a typical breakfast. If you’re looking for a solid breakfast & cute atmosphere- it’s definitely a good choice... but if you’re wanting something wow-ing, I wouldn’t recommend.
A bit pricey, but cannot complain as our dinner was delightful. Excellent food, "service with a smile" and nice atmosphere. We'll be back!
Love love love! We enjoy meeting with friends there and the staff is excellent! I love that they always remember us! Thanks Sarah!
We'd booked a table through Open Table for snacks and cocktails prior to an event close by. One of the options when booking was 'Happiest Hour'--which we'd selected although it was noted we could order from regular menu as well. We were seated quickly and then told that because we were in the dining room, we were not able to order from the 'Happiest Hour' menu at all. By this time, we were short on time and options so, ordered small plates and cocktails from the regular menu offerings. The French 75 was so lemon-y it was like eating sour gummies. Another cocktail that was to have been made with brandy was most certainly made with scotch and despite being passed around the table to find a taker, it sat there and another drink was ordered. In all fairness, I did call the next day and received apologies about the "misunderstanding" from the manager but, after a $200+ tab and leaving hungry, we probably won't be going back.
