Hendricks Resto-Lounge Ratings and Reviews
Food was fine but took an unexpectedly long time to get it. Went early - 5pm before any rush or large crowd. Only saw one server and I guess they only have one chef considering how long it took! Would be in no rush to go back.
We were going to stay for dinner but unfortunately were disappointed with 2/3s of our initial food and drink and didn't think it was worth the cost to stay. This is a nice looking bar and was convenient to BC place where we had an event later. The happy hour food choices were limited. We choose an appetizer off the small plates and it arrived cold. This was replaced by an intended hot version, so that was good in terms of service, not a great dish but ok, as it turned out. We ordered 2 cocktails-- one was very good-- the Vancouver Cocktail. The margarita looked interesting. The primary taste was smoke, though it was described as having spicy chai syrup in it. So it was strange. The host and waitstaff were very nice and welcoming. We were sorry to leave, as we intended to have dinner there, but didn't think we were going to get the quality we were seeking and what we were paying for. It's a nice location-- I hope that was an off night.
Thank you so much Cesar for an unforgettable evening. He was very friendly and personable! My partner and I were celebrating our recent success in our business but one of us can't drink alcohol. Cesar was so thoughtful that he gave my partner a non-alcoholic sparkling to toss with. He also surprised us with a cheesecake with "congratulations" on it! Thank you so much for going above and beyond! Our day couldn't be more perfect.
I really wanted to love this restaurant, the setting is very well done and the service was first rate, professional and attentive without being obtrusive. The food was good (although not great) but most disappointing to me was the price value ratio which was skewed to high prices versus "moderate" portions of good but not great food.
We were seated quickly but then there was a 6 minute wait for the server to ask for our drink orders. (Also some confusion as to who would be our server). We seemed to be a bother to her as it was 'last call' so by the time our whole party arrived it was too late to order any food (approx 11:50). Strange to be in the entertainment district and close your restaurant/lounge at midnight right after a major concert. They should be a bit more flexible.
We had a great time here...there was live music which was great (it was a Friday night) the food was really yummy and the service was good...the decor is beautiful and even though there was live music you could still hear the conversation at the table so it wasn't too loud just perfect...great place before a show or game as it's close to BC Place and Rogers Arena...I would go back for brunch as the menu looked really yummy and different then the rest of the city...great find!
Service was good and food was rather tasty. But they charged for refills of ice tea. And when we asked for coffee with milk they charged $4 just for the little bit of milk to put in your coffee. Just a bit much. It is those small things that become big things. Big things that will keep us from returning, unfortunately. And we live two blocks away.
This place was amazing!!! It's brand new and beautiful. Menu was spectacular. Food was fantastic with great flavours. Very fun and swanky atmosphere with a great bar area. Bar tender was amazing and made us some really great drinks. Overall we had a great evening. Will definitely add this place to our list of faves!!!!
The food is awesome as one would expect, the Kale salad was as tender as I have ever had and delicious and yummy. Every dish has not only fabulous flavour but just the right balance of textures...every bite makes you close your eyes and concentrate on what is happening in your mouth. Just delicious. The decor is beautiful and brand new. The live music is a great touch. Can't wait to go for brunch! Service was friendly and efficient! Will be back for sure.
We are sure this restaurant is great but didn't stay due to how loud it was. The restaurant turns into a nightclub/lounge after 7PM Fri-Sat. We couldn't hear each other or the server it was so loud. Server was very gracious about it. Confused that this is the direction for a Westin Hotel restaurant. Seems an odd and confusing choice. If you were staying there as a family you certainly couldn't eat there past 6:30 pm. The music was so loud it was even hard to talk near the front desk. At least we now know not to send clients to stay there on weekends. I guess they are trying to attract a younger or hipper set than I. I will take my middle aged ears and money down the road.
I went to this restaurant because I saw rating in Opened Table is 5 generally but actually it wasn't when I read reviews from open table diners which I found out afterward. I am not sure why it said 5 when most of diners rated 3, apparently this restaurant just re-opened a week ago after renovations so may be the rating is for the old restaurant before renovations. Anyway, my experience is just so so, it is quite pricy on everything, portion is tiny and not so tasty. The main reason really turned me down was the dessert, I ordered a strawberry shortcake baked Alaska but its totally off of it, it was strawberry ice cream on top a thin short cake wrapped with meringue which the ingredients in menu never mention about ice cream inside so I didn't enjoy it at all. Well, they are nice enough took that off from my bill which I appreciate..The best part of my experience in this restaurant is my coffee, it was a very good coffee.
We went to Hidden because I had a Groupon I'd been given, I doubt I would have even heard about it if I hadn't. The Groupon was for an appetizer, two entrees and two desserts. We had the arancini, the crab tortellini with scallops, the halibut, the cheesecake and the brownie. Everything was good, nothing was fantastic. It's small and tucked away, definitely has a hotel restaurant feel, but it was nice to have a conversation in a restaurant at a normal volume.
This was a lunch with a friend. The dining area is definitely hidden. The restaurant is not street level and the entrance once in the hotel was not well marked. The bar is prominent as you enter and the dining area is on the corner of the building with two sides of windows. The colour scheme may be a bit dark for evenings but it works for day time dining. It was quiet and we could have a conversation without shouting. This may have to do with the few diners at the lunch hour but it appeared to be better insulated than other restaurants. The Tuna Nicoise Wich and Wild Mushroom & Ricottia Cannelloni were very tasty. Nice presentation, good flavours and good service.
We would try again.
Went here with a group on. Hidden location in a hotel. Menu variety was great, food was good but lacked some flavouring. Dessert was very good. Waiter was great and service was fast. Although we were also there on a quiet Sunday night. Very nice ambiance with no loud music.
Hidden Tasting Bar was definitely a gem! It's a bit hidden on the upper lobby floor of the Westin on Robson. When my friends and I went, it was really quiet. There is a bit of confusion with the amounts we are to spend on the Groupon however this is definitely a place I would come to at regular price!
The food is delicious and the service is impeccable. Craig definitely shined out that night to us and we even got a picture with him too! I will definitely come back.
