The experience and food were disappointing. Food was lukewarm, service was slow urge point if non existent.
Great place to have a variety of food! This was a birthday dinner for my mom and at the end of the night she was pleased, and we all were very pleased. They provided a birthday card, a gift certificate, and a wonderful cake to seal the deal. I couldn't have wanted anything better. Great thought!!
The service was excellent. The food exceeded expectations.
Took a group of 6 for my daughter's birthday. The service was great, friendly but unobtrusive, even for the tendon the group. We all enjoyed the free range cocktails! I will definitely return on my next trip to Alexandria.
Very good food -awesome flavors but on the pricey side so be prepared to pay a little more for some southern goodness
Fresh food and friendly service in an attractive space!
We waited over 15 minutes from being seated to orders being taken. The restaurant was out of one of our appetizers. Then it took 30 minutes to know that one of the drinks could not be made because an ingredient was out of stock. I do not recommend this restaurant at all.
The food was great and I had one of the best old fashioneds I have had in a long time. However, the service was extremely slow. I appreciated how friendly our waitress was, but it took twice as long as it should have been.
Food always great, service could be better. Manager checked in and was helpful.
The menu was varied and interesting and the food was good. There were some glitches in preparation/service (substitutions were missed, and thereafter the replacement dish was a little overcooked). The noise level was a bit high, despite the restaurant not being overly full. We were a large party, and there were a few delays, but overall, we were pleased with the experience.
Awesome place, noise level was high, but that noise was due to live music, so that was rad. The buffet is definitely the way to go, items a la carte are pretty spendy. 15 Dollar bottomless Mimosas were great, though they were 25 cents a refill, so you decide for yourself on the bottomlessness of that. 15 for one, spendy but 16 for four? Much better.
The food was excellent!!
This was my first time enjoying the brunch buffet at Hen Quarter. The food was very good but there were some foods on the buffet not being replenished because I was informed that certain selections were completely out. I was disappointed that I did not get to try some of the selections but I am hoping that if I have the opportunity to visit again, this will not be the case. Also, the service was top notch and our waiter was very pleasant and had a wonderful sense of humor.
The food was great. Service was amazing and our waiter Hannah was amazing! She was so accommodating to our extra request with our little one! We look forward to coming back soon!
Service was a bit slow and inattentive for lunch, but the food was decent. I prefer the Penn Quarter location. Our group had the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, Crispy Chicken Sandwich, BLT Wrap, and Cobb Salad, with the deviled eggs and blue crab hush puppies as appetizers. Nothing really stood out, but overall the food was decent.
I doubt that it's always or usually this bad... but nonetheless it was extremely disappointing to have failures at every level on a special occasion for a party of 2:
Waited 5+ minutes at host stand before acknowledged, waited several minutes at table before receiving menus, could tell server was in the weeds (restaurant didn't appear overly busy though), 45 minutes for apps to arrive, entrees were ok but missing some items, server never came by to check on us after food arrived, didn't show up until we were done, he knew it was a disaster so they took the apps off our check and he just dropped it off without checking to see if we wanted desserts.
Very unfortunate and hopefully atypical.
Excellent food and variety for the buffet. Will be a repeat customer.
This was a birthday celebration brunch for a disabled veteran!
Our first time there and an incredible experience!
Be prepared to climb stairs if seated upstairs.
Some of our party enjoyed the bottomless mimosas and some enjoyed freshly brewed iced tea! This is the place for brunch!!!
The food and atmosphere was perfect. We walked in and the hostess asked if we had a reservation, I said we did not. We had just found the restaurant on Open Table while driving in the area a few minutes before so we didn’t make a reservation. She told us they were not taking walk-ins even though the restaurant was almost empty. We walked out to the vestibule and made a reservation on the app and walked back in and we were seated.
We had the Sunday brunch and it was delicious. Our server was pleasant and attentive. We would go back but the hostess (or management) should handle the situation a bit better. When we left the restaurant was still only half full.
Waitress was a little strange and the omelette guy was rude. Food was delicious as always.
Excellent service! Good food!!
I would come back!
Good atmosphere. Somewhat expensive for a Sunday brunch. Your really paying for the location.
Food was very tasty as always but the service was lacking, especially the hostess. It was obvious something was going on that we weren’t privy to. Her condescending manner was very off putting.
It was delicious! Amazing food and great service! It was a bit noisy so if you don’t mind that, it was great. As we were leaving I forgot my phone at the table and the waiter was looking for me in the restaurant to give it back. Nice experience!
Jorge was our server and he was the best! Buffet Brunch was surprisingly good as well!
I’m sure this is in the case for every single day, but the waffles were a bit dry and underwhelming. The sausage was overcooked and also a bit dry. The wait staff were phenomenal. The bloody Mary was very good. But as far as the brunch buffet goes I probably wouldn’t recommend or get it again. Just my two cents.
Our waitress was fantastic and made excellent food suggestions. The food and drinks were amazing as well. Overall, great experience.
Expensive for greasy fried chicken
It taste like the oil was dirty we had to wait 20 minutes cause they said were making it fresh to people 4 peices of chicken plus sdes was 70 dollar
We are locals this was more like a tourist trap but the waitress was great
Great Food Selection! The Food was tasty. Service was great.
The hostess had us sit and order at the bar because our reservation wouldn’t be available for awhile (couldn’t clarify on time). Immediately after we ordered our food she tried to take us to our seats. Confusing process especially when I arrived just shortly before our confirmed reservation. We ended up staying at the bar since the bar staff had already done 60% of the work required for our meal.
I enjoy going here and this was the poorest service Ive had. The food is always delicious and is a decent value. It wont stop me from going again, but Im hoping for a different server.
Best fried chicken in the world ever!!! We
Did the Sunday brunch and they have anything a person could ever desire!!
Had the chicken and waffles, it was rather tasty, I'd order it again. The spicy bloody mary (hen on fire, I think it was called) wasn't very spicy so if you are a true spice lover you'll need to add hot sauce. The guy playing live was great, that was a nice surprise.
Good service food was amazing, will go back and have the buffet
I Absolutely loved Hen Quarter! I will definitely be back. The staff was friendly, the food came quickly and the Chicken waffles were delicious!
Its was good we ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and wings. The Nashville hot wasn't very spicy but it was still good. The bar tender Jacks was great and suggested a drink that we enjoyed as well. We will be going back.
I ask my sister where she wanted to go for her birthday and she suggested Hen Quarter. I had never been there before. It was wonderful. Although it was my sister's birthday, I was the one that was given a gift, by being aware of this fantastic restaurant. The food, both appetizers and main courses was delicious. Our server was personable, knowledgeable, and very helpful. Hen Quarter is definitely one of the "go to" restaurants that I will take my relatives and friends to when they visit from out of town.
Tried the Sunday brunch buffet for the first time. Worth every penny. Highlights include the fried chicken, cheesy grits, macaroni and cheese, and the bite size pecan tarts. Even the brussel sprouts got rave reviews from a group of five friends.
Love this restaurant! We were on third floor due to large party of 8 and conversation was easy to hear. Food was delicious but due to large party, I’m guessing, food took a while to come out. Appys were slow but dinner was faster. Server was professional and pretty attentive, but she came across as slightly aloof. No real issues though.
Amazing food and service. Highly suggest the buffet brunch. There are options for all types.
