Best fried chicken in the world ever!!! We
Did the Sunday brunch and they have anything a person could ever desire!!
I Absolutely loved Hen Quarter! I will definitely be back. The staff was friendly, the food came quickly and the Chicken waffles were delicious!
Its was good we ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and wings. The Nashville hot wasn't very spicy but it was still good. The bar tender Jacks was great and suggested a drink that we enjoyed as well. We will be going back.
I ask my sister where she wanted to go for her birthday and she suggested Hen Quarter. I had never been there before. It was wonderful. Although it was my sister's birthday, I was the one that was given a gift, by being aware of this fantastic restaurant. The food, both appetizers and main courses was delicious. Our server was personable, knowledgeable, and very helpful. Hen Quarter is definitely one of the "go to" restaurants that I will take my relatives and friends to when they visit from out of town.
Tried the Sunday brunch buffet for the first time. Worth every penny. Highlights include the fried chicken, cheesy grits, macaroni and cheese, and the bite size pecan tarts. Even the brussel sprouts got rave reviews from a group of five friends.
Love this restaurant! We were on third floor due to large party of 8 and conversation was easy to hear. Food was delicious but due to large party, I’m guessing, food took a while to come out. Appys were slow but dinner was faster. Server was professional and pretty attentive, but she came across as slightly aloof. No real issues though.
Amazing food and service. Highly suggest the buffet brunch. There are options for all types.
Hen Quarter was amazing as always! This is my second time going but my first time doing the brunch buffet. It did not disappoint! The buffet has something for everyone, so many options, everything was consistently hot and fresh. Well worth it! I can’t wait to go back
I was disappointed that they did not sing happy Bday to my mom and give her free cake .Alot of restaurants when its your Bday they make the customer happy
The Table was ready and the wait staff was energetic and friendly. The food was delicious and satisfying. The portion was enough and the Fried Chicken and Waffle was really good. I will be returning.
Hen Quarter is in a great location. Their selection of bourbons is good and their food was interesting and tasty. Met a friend for brunch and completely enjoyed the ambiance and the experience.
Brunch offerings are plentiful and diverse but food was over heat-lamped or over-cooked. Should not be the case with the crowd and flow.
Service and food was outstanding highly recommend the chicken and waffles.
First time visiting for restaurant week. Food was fantastic and service was great.
What an amazing experience. I loved every bit of my meal. All the employees were super friendly. I would definitely come back
Adorable decor and yummy rustic food.
A girlfriend and I were out celebrating her birthday. The food was excellent as usual. Will definitely be back.
I made a reservation online and was given seating on the second level. We were later told by our waiter that upstairs seating meant one could not order from the regular menu at all. This was a negative for me since I'm a vegetarian and the brunch buffet had only two dishes I could eat for a $30 price. So, overall, while the food was delicious, I would've loved more non-meat options, and to have had the choice of ordering from the regular menu.
Additionally, this location is not walking impairment-friendly. The brunch buffet was upstairs and there would've been no way for someone experiencing difficulty walking or of climbing stairs to access the buffet.
So if you're an able-bodied, meat eater, you'll love it!
The service was great the food was good we got the buffet brunch so we got to try everything I would return to try lunch
cold food, buffet frequently not stocked, service was slow
Overall, Hen Quarter was just ok. I did not leave feeling like I needed to come back.
The ups were we had a good waitress who showed up often and the guy on the omelet station was the most professional person in that food area. I felt bad for him because he seemed to be responsible for too much in food area while other wait staff just stood behind him.
The replenishment of food was very slow the entire time. For example, the Mac and cheese empty tray was visible both times I visited the buffet. The syrup and butter was completely out and when I asked a staff member about replenishment, there was really no reply. I just saw her return with a large gallon and poured syrup in the container. I said thank you. The waffle wait was long due to one person making waffles.
I just felt overall for an establishment to serve brunch regularly on both Saturday and Sunday, the process should be down to a science.
If you have a lot of time to go back and forth at least 3-4 times to enjoy truly what they have then it may be a good place for you. I would just prefer to visit the buffet 1 or 2 times and all selections be available at once.
One more thing - almost bottomless mimosa was a joke. Just charge a flat fee for it; it just make sense verses charging cents for refills.
We had been here before for dinner and loved it. Yesterday, our service was just awful. Waiter seemed hungover and disinterested. Never greeted himself, just came over and asked if we were ready. One order was wrong (one friend asked for white meat chicken and the other for dark meat for their chicken and waffles, both came back white meat), but the waiter never came back after our food came out and no one checked on us until a line started to grow out the front door and they wanted to clear our plates so we could leave. Never got a refill on our coffees or water. My omelette was cold and the mushrooms in it were not cooked. So subpar it’s not even funny.
The fried chicken tasted like fish. Both the fish and chicken appear to be fried in the same oil. Unfortunate because the chicken was cooked perfectly. The rest of the meal was great-biscuit, potatoes, vegetables. Great beverage selection as well. Will go back, but won't get the fried chicken.
Plates at brunch were dirty. Server was kind but slow. Drinks came out way late.
I love the food and atmosphere here, but the service is a little rough sometimes. I went there for brunch and there was no one there to greet us and then we sat down and a waiter came over to us and then another one came over. You would think seeing two waiters we would have received our drinks earlier....took probably 15 minutes before the entire table (3 people) had their drinks. The food is what keeps me coming back, but I hope their servers get a little more alive and quick when serving their tables. Thanks!
Good dinner this week at Hen Quarter. The food was great, Jake our server was attentive, and the atmosphere itself was a warm retreat from the cold, winter air outside!
Food was great! Service was great! My only issue was they ran out of champagne...for mimosas...during brunch! That's one of the main reasons I brunch. So that killed my group's brunch mood.
Wish potential, but overall a let down.
Food: some items like the crab hush puppies and chicken/waffles are amazing, but other items were lacking. The shrimp and grits at $25 only comes with four shrimp; way over priced. The chicken in the HQ special was very dry; disappointing since this is their main thing.
Service: again a mixed bag. The waitress was super nice, but she forgot to put our order in and didn’t give us anything to compensate for it other than taking more drink orders :/. Seemed a little fishy to me.
It was my birthday and they did nothing for it.
Probably won’t go back anytime soon.
Food was delicious. I just wish the bar staff were more attentive to their customers.
Every time we go to Hen Quarter we say we ought to go there more often. This time we took houseguests from out of town, and they declared it was the best thing they'd eaten all week in the DC area. We were too full for dessert, despite looking forward to it. Everyone cleaned their plate and there was something for everyone on the menu. Also get the chicken cracklins to start (thank me later).
Hen Quarter never disappoints. Brunch on New Year's day was no different. I've never done their buffet but this time I decided to. Everything was so good! The fried chicken was seasoned perfectly, mac & cheese was great and the prime rib was amazing. I couldn't taste everything but what I had was so good I'd definitely be going back again. AND they do Saturday brunch! Winner for sure!!!
We chose Hen Quarter since they were one of the few places open early for brunch on New Year's Day, and I had a flight to catch around midday. Unfortunately, not all of their staff seemed to have gotten the word. When we arrived for a 9:30 reservation, most of the buffet had not yet been set out and the manager could be overheard berating some staff for arriving late, and discussing others who hadn't shown up at all. Over the next 30-45 minutes, they populated the buffet, and our server was attentive. The food was excellent. I certainly understand that any restaurant can face challenges on a day like that. In my mind, it would have been appropriate for the management to have offered a modest discount to offset the lack of preparedness and restricted buffet offerings. Since they didn't do so, it's hard to consider it a good value at $28/per person. I would gladly go back on a more routine day, however, to give them a second chance. The menu looks great and the food that was available on the buffet was delicious.
All in all, I’m was a good experience. Great location and atmosphere. The service was excellent. The food is definitely southern - it feels like even the healthier options are prepared in a way that makes the food unhealthy! They need an improved kids menu. Everything fried and greasy and just some odd options (like fried chicken skin). They should add a kids version of chicken and waffles - their house special!
Waitress was good overly chipper long wait for food for 2
3 yes 3 tables of 4 were served before us he had a ribeye I had hen special? Buiscuit was had as a rock I even knocked it on the plate while telling the server it was cold and hard as she was telling me no we get them fresh she then got me a fresh one
My son and I enjoyed our visit. The food was good and the atmosphere and service was great!!! Will definitely be back!!
Great food and really good service. Was our first visit and we plan to visit again.
Cute restaurant with a nice vibe. Had great service and a lovely meal
The food and service was wonderful!
We had a great time. The food was good, the service was good and the overall experience was good. I would recommend this place for all occasions.
The restaurant was wonderful like always. The food is great and the wait staff is wonderful as well.
