Had the half chicken with sliced peaches covered in a peach Sauce. Quite good. Quick service !
We had the buffet… There was an abundance of variety, all of the food was cooked well, the desserts were delicious, the fruit was fresh and the made to order omelette was great! It was definitely worth the price and the peppermint Patty hot chocolate was divine!
I will start off by saying the food was absolutely delicious. The service however was HORRIBLE. From the minute our waiter cane to our table he seemed annoyed. He asked where we were from and when we said NY he seemed even more annoyed. We ordered biscuits and chowder for our apps and we each ordered an entree. We also ordered cocktails and I ordered a club soda. Within 10 minutes our entrees were brought to our table. I told the person that brought them that we didn’t get our apps yet I also never got the club soda. About 10 minutes later the corn chowder cane out. I asked about the biscuits and the waiter just shook his head. Mind you he never apologized. When we were done eating he came with the biscuits I told him we didn’t want them anymore. He nodded and walked away with them. Of course they were on the bill when it came. I pointed it out he got us another check. My boyfriend put his card in the sleeve with the check. The waiter brought back the check to sign but the card wasn’t there. He left it by the register. Needless to say the horrible service ruined the delicious dinner.
Service was prompt and courteous. Food was delicious. Ambiance was very nice. Able to talk at normal volume. Will definitely go back again.
Had a lovely dinner here with a group of 6 people. Great spot for a group. All of the dishes were excellent. Only one misstep in that our server had some issues with remembering all of the orders at the table. Would go again!
Server ruined the experience. We got the buffet so before tip $75. Server never refilled the coffee or water. Left used plates on table the entire time. No silverware provided I pulled from nearby table. It was 9 am so slow yet we stacked used plates in middle of our small two top table, sat with no beverage refill, hands crossed to signal we were done and after ten minutes still had to request the check. Server comes back 5 minutes later and throws it on the table to try to leave though I clearly had my card in hand. We won't be back. Food on buffet was lukewarm.
The food was good, not great. The service was BAD. The waitress took our drink order and never asked us how our food was nor did we see again till we were trying to get the check.
We had to wait for long periods of time for the waitress to return to the table. Food arrived to the table cold.
Just looked at my bank card used to purchase food and discovered that my card was erroneously charged $20 additional for my bill.
I called the restaurant and I’m awaiting them to resolve my issue. I’m very disappointed in my experience with Hen Quarter.
They way undercooked a meal for our son. When we asked to recook it took 20 minutes and the manager hesitated to take it off the bill. He ended up eating of the families plates. The manager was cockey and rude to other tables. It took 10 minutes to get the bill.
The Fiod was good but all together cold. Nothing seemed hot or fresh. Like it was sitting waiting for a runner. I wish we would not have tried this and done something different in old town
The brunch food was delicious. The setting was great. It was my first time and I definitely will go back. Totally recommend this place
The Hen’s Quarter was great. We went for Saturday brunch. The food was fresh and delicious!
Everything was on point just wished the menu had a little more variety!
We here for brunch and everything was amazing. Great service and great food
Phenomenal service with delicious food. I ordered the Southern Sampler. The delta catfish was so good and I rarely eat any fish. The fried and roasted chicken was out of this world too. We really enjoyed this restaurant!
Thanks so much for the awesome review, Steve! We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your meals with us. These are the reviews we love to read! Thanks again. We hope to see you back again very soon.
I chose to eat at this restaurant solely because their Penn Quarter location was shut down and I always enjoyed my meals at the now closed location. The appetizer platter was great, as usual. I had the shrimp & grits and my mother had the chicken & waffles. Both were great. My meal was a little low on the grits, but overall, I enjoyed it. The service, on the other hand, was unsatisfactory. I asked for the peach cobbler and after about 5 mins I was told that they couldn't make any peach cobbler. I ended up settling for the sweet biscuits, which were incredibly disappointing. As someone who was born and raised in Georgia, these were FAR from sweet biscuits. Just dry, flavorless, hard biscuits with half-deflated whipped cream and soggy strawberries. Major regret.
Once seated, I realized that my glass still had beige lipstick stains still on it. I notified our waitress and she came back with a new glass <5 mins later. We got a new waitress because our first one's shift ended. She didn't check on us enough when we got our meals and had to flag her down at one point for more water.
My mother got the check as I was in the bathroom and gave her the card I left. She forgot to use a $10 off promotion we had received and I asked the waitress to apply the discount once she brought back the check. By this time, I had already written in her tip. When she came back with the discounted check, she said that there's no need to change the tip and to just sign the bottom of the check, in a rude tone. I assume she thought I'd change the tip to reflect the new balance, but it was still rude to tell a customer how to fill out the tip. I ended up giving her a +25% tip for some of the worst service I've received in the DC area. Definitely won't be returning and if you're coming here because you loved the DC location, don't. Order take-out, if you're really craving Hen Quarter.
Brought the kids and everyone enjoyed it.
Brunch was so good! The buffet is reasonably priced and the “almost bottomless” mimosas were worth it. Highly recommend!
Friends get together and birthday. Our server was very kind and the food was really good
Food was awesome
Service was great, especially Courtney
Food was excellent!! I had the HQ chicken sandwich I’m going to go back today to get one to go!!! friendly staff.
Had a fairly early reservation (10:15 on a Sunday). It was quite when we got there. They gave us a great table by the window upstairs - 5 stars for ambiance and decor. Buffet was limited for the price ($30pp) with the option to add on more options for an additional fee. Personally, I wouldn't do the buffet again - eggs on the eggs benedict were overcooked as was the roast - no pink at all and completely dry. Basically paid $30 for some chicken/waffles and shrimp/salmon and an omelet which were all very tasty. I expected more for the price. If I were to go back, I'd order off the menu and skip the buffet.
The food was amazing, we had a great table upstairs, and the service was prompt and pleasant
I’ve been a few times, but I feel like the food and service are going down. I had to ask the server 4 times to bring water to the table. He also got the order wrong and ignored us most of the time. The food was ok, it nothing remarkable. I probably won’t be back. I feel like this restaurant has run its course
Absolutely amazing brunch. Although I wish the "bottomless mimosas" were more competitively priced, I believe the value you get on the buffet by itself is very much worth it. Highly recommend this brunch to anyone.
Food is always delicious and staff is friendly and accommodating.
Good food! Great service! The brunch is also fantastic.
My friends and I came here and loved the brunch buffet and almost bottomless mimosas for such a great price. However, the service does need some work. Our waiter did take a while getting us mimosas and our orders and another waiter unfortunately yelled at myself when asking to move because he was holding drinks. The person that made the made to order food in the buffet also had a slight attitude. I have been here before and had excellent service. So, I assumed that this was a fluke, I will definitely come back again regardless.
Brunch was great but service was a little slow. My fried chicken was good but tasted like it had been fried in the same oil as fish. Had a weird fishy aftertaste. Almost bottomless mimosas were delicious. Next time I plan on trying out the brunch buffet
The food is fantastic! The staff and service are warm and wonderful.
The Buffet was a lot more than expected! In a good way. I will definitely be going back.
The staff at Hen Quarter (Alexandria) location are always friendly and courteous. I made a request that was accommodated without fuss. The brunch is awesome. There's so much food and everything tastes great. No complaints from me. I will definitely return.
My boyfriend and I love it here, we will definitely come back!
Fantastic food! The sweet tea is perfect along with the green goddess dressing on the fried chicken cobb salad. Our server was great and attentive ensuring we had drink refills! Can’t wait to go back and try more menu items!
Expensive for Brunch, but literally the most delicious brunch I’ve ever had! Add bottomless mimosas, stay a couple of hours, and your day is set! Fried chicken and waffles, made fresh every few minutes, an omelette station, grits, beans, shrimp, and bread pudding... what more could you ask for?
Have dined here before and the ambiance, food, etc. was consistently very good as before. Our server, “Lem Lem”, was excellent overall and we would certainly ask for her on future visits.
Loved the open kitchen concept. Place looked smaller outside but was a nice size inside. Chicken skin reminds me of KFC so if you like soft fried chicken you will like this place. Good menu choices. We tried the crab hush puppies as an appetizer and it was sweet and savory at the same time.
Great experience and can’t wait to go back. Waitress was extremely professional and the food came out hot and delicious. We really enjoyed the ambiance.
It was a wonderful experience. The server was excellent and the place was awesome. To my surprise they had cracking in the menu. So I was delighted to have an appetizer of nothing but the skin off of fried chicken. My inner fat boy was delighted. We sat in the bar area and the server / bartender took great care of us. Will definitely be going back very soon
Overall, the experience was fine. Walked in and got seated to our after 3-5 minutes after having made a reservation for brunch. Unfortunately after being seated, the server took 15 minutes to come to the table to take our drink and food order. This did not go by without the manager coming over to take our drink order prior. Once the server came, she was very attentive to our needs and would check up on us each time she had passed by. Unfortunately, during my visit here, one of the wait-staff had asked my nationality - assuming that I am not an American citizen. Taken aback because that question was uncalled for and unnecessary - I kindly told him that I was and the worker kept implying I was not. I will not be coming back to this restaurant because of this even though the food was delicious. This restaurant should train their employees on how to interact with customers and about good hospitality because unfortunately through this experience it was apparent to me that they could use a lesson in both.
We LOVE LOVE LOVE Hen Quarter in DC! There bourbon selection is amazing! We always go there for our anniversary dinner. Our friends came to town so this was our first time at the Alexandria location but it certainly won't be our last! The drinks, appetizers (especially the Brussels Sprouts), and entrees (yummy fried chicken) were delicious. Our waitress was fabulous and attentive. Can't wait to return!
