Hemmingway's Bistro

Delicious and a lovely way to celebrate our anniversary. We have been to Hemmingway's often over the past 12 years and it has always been a wonderful experience.

Bistro omelette was bland. I don’t recall tasting cheese. The salt helped. Perhaps I will try out the boullaibasse next time

As always, a perfect dining experience. We took guests & they were wowed!!

Warm convivial atmosphere. Server was friendly, informative and fun. Food as always was amazing! Great wine. Music was a nice touch and just the right level.

Excellent service and decor added to the delightful menu. Seating was a little cramped, but acceptable. Neighbors conversations were annoying when they were discourteous you loud, but ignorable.
We will look forward to our. Next visit.

Hemmingway’s is our go to for French Bistro food. It’s consistently good, great ambiance and very good service. Excellent wine list and very good desserts!

Overall a decent meal but definitely not fantastic. Drinks were delicious, cheese plate was wonderful and french onion soup was great. Main course was were things went off the rails a bit. Steak Frites was ordered as medium rare but came out medium well, dry and with quite a bit of gristle. The pot pie was good but the menu should stipulate that it includes mushrooms. We took the servers recommendation on the dessert a chambord soufflé, which we were advised would take 30 minutes to prepare. So we placed that order when we placed our dinner order and asked that the server time it appropriately. Sadly our dinner plates were cleared and we waited roughly 30 minutes before we caught our server to advise that unfortunately we had to leave as we had another engagement. The server insisted on bringing the dessert which was extremely hot. We attempted to enjoy it as I signed the credit card slip and burned my tongue as a result. Subsequently we were then late to our other engagement. Really was started out wonderfully kind of ended in flames. Very disappointing but based on the other reviews I’m guessing our experience was a one-off. We will probably try again but not for a while.

The Bread that they put out on the table is sooo good. Crusty on the outside and soft inside. I had a Seafood entree with lobster scallops shrimp asparagus and a cream sauce all wrapped up and baked in a phyllo dough. Delicious. My friend had the ever popular white fish. Hard to find too many French Restaurants now a days.

Everything was good, things got very busy and noisy, and we had to wait an extra 10 minutes for our check.

Open Table needs to correct their spelling of Hemingway’s.

A wonderfully romantic spot for our anniversary celebration. The server was perfect and teh food was wonderful. All in all a great experience. We will definitely return!

The food was excellent - dessert was decadent. The service was peerless. The price mounts up, which is the only drawback. A great restaurant for special occasions.

My umpteenth visit. Never had a bad meal there. This time I tried a different salad: spinach and bacon. Prepared tableside with flaming alcohol. Showy yet the most delicious salad ever. Every other diner wanted one because of heavenly aroma! I don't think I'll ever order any other. Service is always friendly and impeccable. My favorite restaurant in Oak Park.

Great Oak Park neighborhood location. Wonderful choice of apps, entrees and desserts. We enjoyed with our friends who are "regulars." Will definitely revisit!

Terrific Brunch with a good friend in an out of the way location in Oak Park! Excellent! Charming! Small restaurant on the first floor of the vintage White Hotel on
Oak Park Avenue. The Cold buffet had salads, cheeses, quiche, smoked salmon, vegetables as well as dessert options of creamer brûlée, bread pudding, cookies, fruit.
Each customer also gets to pick a “main” dish from a menu, including eggs, omelettes, meat options and fish.
My friend & I had the white fish and it was delicious ! You also get a glass of champagne and unlimited coffee in the set price. Great service. We will be back!

The whole experience was great. The food and staff were great, and the ambiance is really nice.

I feel most restaurant are a bit salty but here is not. Overall it is fresh and delicious. Also, service is nice. Our kids get some stickers to kill some time.

Delightful! Frank, our server was very attentive. Food delicious. Menu wonderful. Most of us had chicken pot pie. Group of 7 were highly pleased with choice of restaurant.

Best kept secret in the Western Suburbs and French Cuisine for Lunch unreal. Special for sure.

We stopped in for a late night dinner after an event. We shared a light meal meal of a beet salad and whitefish. It was a perfect amount and delicious.

Outstanding food and service in an atmosphere that recalls the traditional bistro. Great wine list as well. Bravo!
