This Restaurant was perfection from the first hello we received from the host! The from was amazing from the bread to the main course! I had the most juicy, seasoned, and tender steak That I have ever tasted in my life! I can’t wait to go back!!!!
We ate at Hemmingway's on New Year's Eve. It was a little chilly in the outdoor tent but we felt it was a fitting way to end 2020. The food was excellent as was the service. We would strongly recommend Hemmingway's for anyone looking for a great French Bistro experience. Hopefully we will be able to eat indoors again soon.
The food was great and the tent was warm.
The outdoor tent is great - nice ambience, not too many tables. Was comfortable inside on a 48 degree day. The whitefish entree was delicious, drinks were great.
So happy to have a safe date night out. Heaters in tent were great, wonderful service and good overall experience.

As gave many cafes, Hemmingway's has had to move outside -- onto the patio and even onto Oak Park Avenue (where we were seated!). On a warm, buoyant evening, they pulled to off beautifully. Excellent entrees as always, a vin de maison to match, and a superb raspberry souffle to finish. A gem of near-west suburbia.

As always the service and food were excellent. The inside of the restaurant is very nice but with covid They can only serve outside. They have done the best they can in front of the building but there are other restaurants that have regular outside areas that are nicer.

We went for lunch this time. We also decided to eat just the appetizers along with their delicious mushroom soup. Their wine list is mainly French but they also have some American wines. This time I didn't get their creme brulee for dessert, which I love. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable. I love the cozy feel of this bistro.
I was 3 of my friends and we live downtown. We went on Open Table as we were looking for a place for lunch when we were leaving the Monet gardens in Garfield Park and found your restaurant. It was great and we will return.
Lovely early dinner with friends who live in Oak Park.
We had 6 o’clock reservations and were seated at 5:55p.m. Not very busy and we sat outside. THERE WAS ‘“NOT 6 FEET OF SEPARATION BETWEEN EACH TABLE”!! . We did not get our main course until 7:40. I ordered a NEW YORK STEAK. IT WAS TOUGH AS NAILS AND GRIZZLY. We had escargots as an appetizer, and they had very little taste. So for the three of us it was $75.oo per person and most definitely not worth it. We had a very nice waiter but he was incredibly slow.
When I made the reservations I asked if we would be able to get the lobster dinner, I was assured we would. So when we got there , we were told that it was not on the menu anymore. Yet two weeks prior when I had made the reservations we were told they would have it. Overall a very very dissatisfied meal and evening!!@
Enjoyed the experience. The only disappointment was that a few items on the OpenTable menu were not on the restaurant's menu, given that I chose the restaurant because of these items (mussels). In all, the ambiance, service, and food outweighed any disappointments.

Hemingway’s remains one of my favorite places in the neighborhood. Amazing martinis, love the goat cheese salad and always a good fish when we want something more filling. The seating on the patio area is great!
Service was painfully slow. It took 20 minutes for the waiter to acknowledge our table. Food was meh.
Frankly, the Manhattan was not great; and the portion of lamb chops were very small. And, the server did not bring the right side dishes (I subbed). We like the restaurant and will return, of course.
Quaint restaurant. We have been there many times. Good fish, wine selection and great soufflés. Highly recommend for special occasion. A bit expensive for everyday dining but we go mainly because we find it charming and have always had good food.

For fine dining, should be remodeled feels very antiquated & dirty carpet. Old fake flowers in back room & bathrooms, both men & women’s are very dirty & need to be cleaner. Modern, & use paper towels. I had to use toilet paper to open door.
Food was overpriced. & wine is very pricey. But it doesn’t feel like a high end restaurant so the price doesn’t match the ambiance & service. Downtown prices but no atmosphere.

It is small, intimate and very charming. The food and wine is paired well.
Fresh delicious dishes are served for lunch, brunch and dinner.

It's not really worth the hype, too noisy and tables are way to close together, it's very difficult to have a personal conversation with having to raise your voice over the the table next to you .

seatings on Saturday night. My husband and I both enjoyed entrees from their special
Valentine menu. Our waiter, though very helpful and considerate, was quite busy. The
dessert special was disappointing, but nicely presented. We like this restaurant and will
have have dinner there again when it's not as crowded.
We hosted a small baby shower at Hemmingways and had
a wonderful experience. It was easy to communicate ahead of the event and everything was set up as we had discussed. The food and service was exceptional. I would definitely host another event at Hemmingways!
