If you are in the area, definitely dine at Hemingway’s. You just can’t beat the spectacular view, great food, great service!!
I made reservations the day before going to Hemingway’s. I received a message a couple of hours before our reservation stating that there was a limited menu and there was only outdoor seating. It seemed not to be an issue at the time. Their cook staff quit the night before. Therefore the limited menu that was offered wasn’t good overall. The tuna salad was good but the jerk chicken sandwich and the chicken tacos were dry and unpleasant. I enjoyed the fries a great deal. Drink menu also limited and disappointing. We’re told they are changing owners in December. Hopefully it’ll be better.
On a positive note the weather was nice, sitting by the water relaxing and our waitress MacKenzie was very sweet. The staff was small so I would recommend if you’re there please be patient and kind. Best wishes to the new owners.
Horrible they would not accept the Opentable rewards gift card after I made an OT reservation with the rewards!
I have usually liked Hemingway's restaurant, but the bar was very slow and so was the service. I noticed several other tables looking for their server. My drink came out wrong but I did not send it back because it took so long to get it.
Ordered appetizers & meal. Everything came out at once.
Great experience, location and food - highly recommended.
The host sat us at a table then neglected to assign a waiter. We waited 15 minutes or more then got the situation corrected. The waiter was good. Food was OK. Great views.
Service was spotty at best. We were quickly seated at a table with no silverware or napkins. Took a while for some one to take an order. Food was good, especially liked the coconut mahi mahi.
Atmosphere, Sunset View & Ambiance 10 out of 10
Food 4/10 - points off for serving frozen / packaged food.
Price - 4/10 - $36 for overcooked (from frozen?) Coconut crusted Mahi!! I’ve had better fish sticks tbh.
Unfortunately the hostess set the tone for the evening by telling us that they didn’t have the outdoor table we had reserved available. After a 1 he drive over. That they were short a bus boy and unable to clear the table for 30 more minutes - apparently snapping her friends took priority over getting her own hands dirty and cleaning the table herself? She was then flippant and dismissive and told us to check “downstairs” - didn’t offer to call or offer another option. *No one was available when we went downstairs either, so we requested an indoor table in the near empty space. She was again less than helpful and dismissive in her manner and the way she handled the restaurant business.
Calamari was frozen variety but hot & the sauce tasty - but served in a plastic cup - Linen napkins & plastic cups do not jive. Upscale pricing demands upscale presentation. Mahi was from frozen. Ravioli was spicy filling (not mentioned in menu description) and worst full of small bits of shell - making the overall eating experience very unpleasant. Scallops were mushy. Yuck.
Overall - it’s a great building & amazing sunset. Recommend for drinks and starters? But a huge missed opportunity here for an exceptional memory at an amazing restaurant because it is being poorly run and I’d honestly skip it for any other local beer & crab kinda place.
