    By 8:30pm they were out of about 5 menu items, including garlic mashed potatoes, which was disappointing. The bread was doughy and extremely undercooked. When we mentioned it to the waiter, he agreed but could not replace it with a fully cooked batch and did not even offer to remove it from our bill. And it’s very pricey - one cocktail we ordered without specifying alcohol came up as $21. There was a surcharge for splitting a large steak. Cute atmosphere and lots of potential, but the service and consistency needs to be improved.

    Often really cold in the multiple times I've eaten here with the door constantly being opened and closed at the front. Hostess is outside and holds door open. Service in 4 of the 5 times I have been there has been slow. Tonight was excruciatingly slow. 1 hour from seating to getting food. Food was very good. Had to wait for a table despite having reservation. Nice place as far as decor, nice environment, but the competition in an area like Paso is steep, so the customer service has to be on point if they want to survive. Right now, my impression is that its going to be tough for them.

    This place is overrated, tourist trap, so overpriced, I have lived all over the world, New York City, Dubai, London, Paris, and Germany. They try to be high in steak house with a low cut meat.

    I’ll be honest, I expected more. While I think the food was very good, it was overpriced for sure. $24 for bread service? Never before and never again. Diet Coke for $4.50 and no refills? $14 for a plate of warm elbow pasta for our 5 year old? $30 corkage fee for the bottle we brought in, $23 for a Grey Goose Martini? Wow. This isn’t Las Vegas. And what was that ‘wedge salad’? White lettuce spread on a plate with a few tomatoes, a few pieces of pancetta and a very little blue cheese dressing. Two smallish cocktails (don’t use a big martini glass if you’re going to half fill it) 3 entrees (we split a filet) 3 sides, no appetizers ( out of calamari) and a cheesecake dessert and our dinner for 4 adults and a small child was over $500! I’ll gladly pay for an outstanding experience and this wasn’t that. Bright lights until after 7, very loud (don’t they know hard ceilings don’t work?) and just an OK ambiance. I appreciated the attention paid to our 5 year old birthday girl and the complementary Shirley Temple, but this place needs some front of house work and some price revisions. I think it could be great given a hard eye at what customers want.

    Finally what our area needed! Phenomenal food and atmosphere. Absolutely gorgeous restaurant with opulent details. All the vibes with upscale steakhouse menu. Can’t wait to come back as soon as possible. Management, Spencer, went above and beyond and made our visit even more special. Highly recommend!

    Overall the food was good. Our friends had the tomahawk that looked amazing. Enough to actually feed 4. They were out of calamari as the appetizer then they were out of chicken which I wanted to have on my salad. My friend ordered the Mac and cheese and had to send it back because it was “spicy “ and the menu didn’t say it was spicy. Then when she got it the top layer was burnt. Unfortunately she only took two bites. The rest of the party enjoyed their meals. The restaurant itself was for nice. Service was “ok”.

    The Tomahawk steak for two was excellent. The service was top outstanding and Danny our waiter was great. Everyone's food came super fast and at the same time. We highly recommend eating here when in Paso Robles!

    Food was ok. Overpriced for what it is. The special was supposed to be Scallops and it ended up being scallop and crab cakes. Lots of little things bring down the rating. Paso has so many good restaurants. No need to over pay for this one.

    We decided to give this a try on a weekend trip to Paso. Very much glad we did. Amazing food and service! We shared which was the right call as the portions are huge but we will 100% be back.

    Bad service, seafood tower was no where near up to par for this value, charged us completely wrong on the bill and manager fought trying to make it right. Will never go back. Only reason they got a 2 star was the tomahawk was good.

    Four of us celebrated my birthday at Hemmingways. Here is the good news: Peach gazpacho was very good Fresh baked bread out of the oven was wonderful. Salmon was very good, cooked just right Here’s the not so good: Lobster was very over cooked, rubbery and tough Asked for olive oil on my linguini instead of butter which server said was doable but they used butter anyway. Food arrived in disjointed fashion. Got our entrees but my husband never got the salad he ordered. Our sides arrived much after our main course was delivered. Halibut was just okay, not fabulous. Server continued to pour wine in glasses without asking each of us if we wanted more. I still had wine in my glass from the wine we started with and she came and poured a different (our second bottle)wine into my glass! Ruined my wine. For dessert we had one berry/apple crisp which was mostly apple peels and very little berry. I won’t be going back anytime soon. There are better options.

    The hostess was very sweet. The bartenders were super friendly and made delicious drinks! Our server she was so welcoming, friendly and attentive but not annoying. She came around just at right times. We were so please with her service. The busboy came around and filled our waters with out having to ask. It was wonderful

    We absolutely loved Hemmingways every single thing about it (except parking go early) First walking in loved the atmosphere very clean and the music was perfect. We ordered a bottle of LXV which was brought to us by Spencer he was surprised by our selection and we were very pleased with LXV (we actually visited the tasting room the next day at suggestion of Spencer) our food OMG unbelievably absolutely delicious!!! We had Calamari, Filet Mignon, Rib Eye red wine compound butter sauce on the steak was amazing, mashed potatoes (best I ever had) and corn succotash never had before incredible. We can’t wait to return next year and probably will go twice. Our service was also great sorry I forgot the servers name though. We highly recommend dining here. Definitely above 5 Stars

    We had a 6pm reservation for dinner on a Thursday night. We were given the option to let them know if we were celebrating anything when we made our reservation, and we were celebrating a birthday. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated right away. As soon as we were seated, our server brought over 2 glasses of champagne and wished a happy birthday. Our dinner was delicious and our steaks were cooked perfectly. Good sides, dessert, and cocktails. Our server was attentive but not annoying. I would highly recommend Hemingways and we will be headed back again.

    The restaurant was beautiful inside and out. The hostess sat us right away. The only complaint I have is there should be a dress code enforced. My husband and I get dressed up for dinner especially for some place like Hemmingway's. We sat next to a couple in shorts and flip flops! Come on people. Have a little class.

    Last night Friday, August 18 I took my family to this restaurant to celebrate a birthday even though I had read some of the negative reviews I wanted to give it a try. I ordered two New York’s and one ribeye all three of them was supposed to be well done. The sides arrived cold, and the steaks arrived and upon cutting in to them all three were red. That tells me they do not know what they’re doing in the back you give them one chance to make it right we asked the server to re-fire two of the new york’s to make them well done. They were not even gone for five minutes when they return they were charred black. the price that we paid for the steaks, it was a disaster. My family and I or no longer comfortable staying finishing up our dinner. The manager came to our table and with a smile on his face asked us how the dinner was. I had no choice but to point to the black charred steaks and let him know that we were not happy. He said he would speak to the chef in the back. What ever that meant…… a few minutes later the waitress returned and apologized for the bad experience, but did say management was offering us a dessert. The total was $265, but I still left a $20 tip. Horrible experience.

    Service was excellent. Food was just ok , took my wife for her birthday and ordered the tomahawk steak for 2 with garlic mash potatoes and asparagus. But they didn’t have any more asparagus so we order the mac&cheese instead. Steak was flavorful but tough. Garlic mash had no flavor .

    Amazing restaurant to check out when you are out in Wine Country Paso Robles CA! The staff was very attentive, and courteous. We were greeted and sat down immediately. Our wine expert let us try some wines and gave his best recommendations based on what we were dining. 5 stars !

    Ok service but mediocre food: Mac'n cheese was dry and too al-dente, calamari dry, mashed potatoes crumply, chicken a bit pink, lamb without salt/pepper, and steak so dry and over done it was almost white! We did send the steak back, and they did replace it, but for the price it was extremely disappointing.

    The restaurant is located on the most stylish street, and is very attractive inside, as a classic “steak house”. We found that the food and wine list did not meet our expectations. While dining in Paso Robles, we wanted an experience which showcased the best products of the area. We ordered the dry-aged, prime, ribeye steak, because it was from a farm near San Francisco which was the closest location to Paso Robles! The steak arrived very cool to our table, after we finished our salad-so cool that the compound butter we ordered would not melt! (The restaurant was not busy at this time-just no communication.) We tried to order a fine Paso Robles red wine by the glass, to accompany the beef, but our choices were very limited. The sommelier kept pointing us to Napa wines on the list. In summary, this restaurant has to grow its food and wine program to meet the ambiance of the interior remodeling, and the very high prices they are charging.

    After a wonderful day in the area, enjoying the sites, the state parks and the beautiful views, we decided to venture in the search for a nice meal. Hemingway’s exceeded all our expectations!!! We booked the last reservation and arrived promptly. The staff was courteous and the floor was buzzing with patrons at the dining room and the bar alike in such an electrifying ambiance. The drinks were perfectly executed, the appetizers mouthwatering, the seafood (lobster) and steak (dry aged NY strip) were simply exciting (seasoning, temperature, presentation, quality and taste). I would strongly recommend Hemingway’s to anyone who wants to have an amazing dining experience.

    Went here for our first time and I am beyond in love!!! Service and staff were truly amazing and the menu is filled with all the eats I have longed for in our town. The steaks were perfectly cooked and seasoned and lobster melted in my mouth. Sides were filled with flavor and the presentation truly fantastic. I’ve always loved Mastro’s when visiting Southern CA and this restaurant is right up there. Beyond happy to have this restaurant in our town!!
