   I usually love this restaurant but this time, it was like you couldn't get us out of there fast enough. The first role came within minutes of us sitting down, before we even got tea and water. The chef started making the second roll almost before we ate the first one. Our other dish took almost half an hour, and we were finished with the sushi before it came and it was bland. I had to put soy sauce on my veggies. We had to ask the waiter to slow down the sushi chef 3 times. It was mothers day and we were hoping for a nice slow relaxing time to enjoy the food, the company and the ambiance and it was ruined. I only write you because normally your dining experience is one of my favs. This was totally disappointing.

   The host seemed pretty inexperienced and wasn’t very helpful. We asked how long the wait would be and she just said, “I don’t know,” without offering any kind of estimate until we asked again. One of our hand rolls contained a fish bone, and when we informed our server, the response was, “The meat is near the bone, so sometimes that happens”—not exactly the reassurance we were hoping for. While the hand roll chef was kind and provided the best service of the staff, we noticed rice consistently falling onto the floor from the rolls before they were served. Given the experience, this location shouldn’t be considered a “signature” one—the food and service were noticeably better at both the Vancouver and Burnaby branches.

   Wow! This was an unexpected experience! From the moment we entered, to the moment we walked out the door, the staff made us feel welcome, comfortable and informed about the menu (which was totally different than most 'sushi' restaurants)! Cold sake (was delicious and refreshing), hand rolls delivered one at a time while we sat at the beautiful bar (so good, a fun way to experience the Hello Nori signature rolls). From there we tried a few other things, including a glass of Japanese whiskey (of which there were many, many!). We will definitely return and try some of the other many interesting menu options (and whiskeys)! Thanks Hello Nori!

   Congrats on the new location. Food + elevated menu items look amazing, although we wish that there would be more of the typical hand-roll options available (similar to your other restos). Service needs to be optimized, and we recognize it is likely a work in progress. Delays in being seated (+ greeted upon arrival) and being able to finalize bill payment definitely needs to be streamlined. Table/bar service was very good (including “formal” bartender) but there were delays in actually getting our food served to us (even though the restaurant was very quiet for a Thursday night at 8-9pm). Looking forward to try “new” table service, although we won’t be able to indulge in hand roll options, and the design/ambiance is impressive. Kind regards, ADVL

   We will definitely be back, that's what we told the Manager Shota who happens to be one of best Restaurant Manager we have ever met. We asked for recommendations and his favourites and they all came super delicious and most important FRESH! Shota is very helpful and very very pleasant and made our first visit very memorable. We will make HELLO NORI Signature our RESTAURANT OF CHOICE and shall be returning very soon!
