Definately one of the better upscale authentic Indian restaurants in Portland. Street parking a bit challenging depending on time of the day. Very tasty Indian cuisine, good variety and feel free to adjust level of spiciness with your helpful waitress.

This is the best India restaurant in Portland. I avoided Indian food in Portland for years until this restaurant opened and my love for Indian food returned that day. Truly authentic and great!

Third time here and 4th on the food with an Uber Eats order once.

Every. Single. Time this place is weird with alcohol. Either you serve it or you don’t guys. Every time the first waiter has to call on another waiter even if we point at the menu and say “the first wine on the list”. They took our food order but then was like “no, sorry I’m not sure” when we asked for two glasses of wine. The first time here they advertised cocktails and the waiter then said no because the “bartender” was out today. Go for the fairly good Indian food. Always pretty good. Service is a bunch of people who have no hospitality background except for the guy who was refilling our water. He should be promoted.

Food very good. Service is going to need to improve for them to survive. Drinks very slow to arrive, food also slow. Diners getting up to ask for bill, etc.

The food was delicious, which made up for the fact that we waited almost an hour for it to arrive. The restaurant was also out of several menu items and the man who delivered our food didn't seem to know anything about it, which was odd. He served us mango chutney and told us it was the pickles we ordered. Maybe he was filling in? But the food really was great. The dining experience just needed a little work.

An early Sunday dinner was overwhelmed by web delivery services and poor staff and stock management.

Our first conversation with our server was telling of the meal to come. A polite but ill trained young man tried his best but was not trained. We planned to start our meal with a cocktails, a full bar looms across the back wall. To our surprise we received a sorry no bartender, yet the order was for simple gin & tonics. Beer & wine sir no only beer wine as he advises only these two wines (out of 15 on the list) We opted for the wine. As our food arrived, we were impressed with the depth of flavors and quality. The truly deserve the 5 stares! Too bad the service was consistently interrupted by the stream of Grub hub, Caviar and Über eats pick-up orders, a dozen during our meal. It was impossible to order another Nan or add another curry. If you go expect great food but keep your service expectations low. The sizes of the curry is small for the price, so value rating is down a bit.

A relatively sedate atmosphere in this modest restaurant. Lunch is served as an Indian Thali where the main entree is accompanied with a bowl of spicy and tasty lentil soup, a raita and a choice of naan or rice.
All dishes are substantial and tasty. About $11.00-12.00 for the entree is a steal. Service is a bit slow but food is worth the wait.
Few options for wine and beers.

This was our 5 time eating at Hello India and each time the food was excellent but this is the first time that the service was also excellent. They have hired two new wait staff that actually know what they are doing and are customer orientated. A welcome improvement to a very nice neighborhood restaurant.

Ordered G&T, but no gin! Ordered white wine, got chilled red! Service needs to tighten. Had lunch today, prefer that, it was quiet. My lunch was quite good.

Summary: If you go, what food they actually deliver to your table will be tasty, but you'll be spending the entire time wondering if you'd just be better off leaving.

I would love to recommend this place, because the food is admittedly very authentic. But after trying it three times, I just can't--there's just too much wrong that isn't getting better. The service at dinner, under the best of circumstances, is lackadaisical and misses frequently. It's not uncommon for diners not to get their orders at all (happened to us and those around us). At its worst, though, the service is aggressively anti-social, from blaming customers for the wait, to randomly deleting items from the menu. And they really haven't worked out the kinks in their drinks service. We tried to order several different bottles of wine from their menu, only to be told they were out of each. But if we wished to use our own bottle, we'd incur a $25 corkage to be served in badly-designed water glasses!

Lunch suffers much of the same issues, but with a more limited menu at very high prices. Still, even with the limited menu, expect to told at least one thing you order isn't ready, wait twice as long as you should for your dish (even if you're there early with nobody else being served), and then pay a hefty premium for the food.

The food was delicious, beware, it's a little on the spicy side. The service definitely needs improvement. They seemed disorganized to say the least though it's a relatively new restaurant so perhaps they haven't hit their stride yet. I'd consider going back especially if I'm not in a hurry.

This was our third visit to Hello India and each time the food was very good and the service not so much. Our server never came to check if we needed anything and as a result I had to go up to the desk on two occasions to get plates and then to remind the server that one of the dishes never was served. Our previous experience wasn't very different. Hopefully over time they will work out the kinks in service because the food is very good.

I organized a birthday party for 7 and the ambience was good, even if the tables put together didn't match. The service was very friendly and accommodating. The menu was authentic and full of variety, mostly from Punjab and Hyderbad. Lots of good veggie options. Most of the dishes were very tasty but the Biryani was too spicy and the eggplant dish was too bland. All in all it was a good experience. I'll give it another try.

The place is decorated nicely. It was a warm day and the front room near the windows was nice and cool. They wanted to seat us in the back where there are booths and it is also nicely decorated, but it was warmer back there and the booth seemed too crowded for 6 people so we found a way to make a table in the front room work. They have a very large menu and it's in a large hardcover bound book. My son and I thought that the chicken items we ordered should have come with a little something else on the side because it seemed kind of plain just the chicken all alone, but it did at least come with a green chutney and we were able to combine it with some of my husband's meal which came with rice so that helped. The food and service were excellent.

The Tadoori chicken dish was outstanding along with the mango lassi and lamb curry dish we had. The customer service was also exceptional with the owner Mehar going out of her way to make us feel welcomed.

The food is outstanding. We lost Bamboo Criket Club, but this new option is a decent replacement. The service was a bit chaotic. Dinner arrived minutes after appetizers, which was tough on the smaller table to find room. Thinking the chaos is due to working out the timing kinks of a new operation. Overall, we were very happy to have a new Indian restaurant in the NE/SE area! It is worth your time to try!

A new neighborhood restaurant still working out the kinks in service but the staff are so friendly and accommodating and eager to please. The food was fantastic! I'll definitely return.
