Great place for lunch. Nice and pleasant not noisy like some places, you can actually hear the person across the table from you talking, what a treat. Food and service always great.
Service was great. Food was wonderful and large quantities. Price was right on target
Hi...my friends and I go out once a month for lunch.. but we found Helio's food bland,, 5 out of 6 of us had the gyro with salad, greek salad was boring, tomatoes mushy, the one friend had fettucini and she really liked it. One of our friends has been prior and enjoyed it but we all found this time the food was nothing i'd rush back for .. Sorry for poor comments but we do eat often and usually have good food around Winnipeg.
The food was not very good and when I said something I was told it was an acquired taste. Not what I had hoped for or expected for $110 with a tip for the 2 of us. I will not recommend nor will I be back. I will also share my experience with Trip Advisor.
Very quiet. Few other patrons.
The service was absolutely wonderful! Food was outstanding and I will definitely recommend Helios to friends and family.
Great food. Everything was perfect. Had table prepared as per online booking info. We will be back!
There isn't a thing about Helios I would change. The restaurant is nicely appointed, the washrooms are clean and provide some niceties like a hook for your purse and a big mirror ;)) And most of all, the food is wonderful and the service is excellent. My only caution is: the dinners are large. Bring your appetite, or like us, you won't be able to enjoy the dessert...baklava, of course and pie. Did I mention the Greek soup is excellent.
I went with 3 girlfriends and myself. We all enjoyed our food. One had the chicken souvlaki in a pita, another fettucine alfredo, another moussaka and myself chicken souvlaki (2 skewers came with it). Portions generous and 3 of us took leftover homes. The greek salad could have had more feta and olives (2 olives per salad). I could have used more tzatziki sauce and noticed that there was an additional charge for more tzatziki sauce. Other reviews said the souvlaki was not tasty however it was moist although could use a bit more spice. I enjoyed it though! Environment was quiet on a Sunday evening and service good. Overall, everyone said they enjoyed the food. Food was slightly expensive. Parking is limited so if the restaurant was full there would likely not be enough parking.
Fabulous! Love the food! So nice to sit and hear my company
Nice quaint restaurant, service great & food excellent! Supporting the local business! Will definitely go back🤗
Thank you for supporting! We're glad you enjoyed yourself during your visit and hope to serve you again! Opa!
Poor value for the money. I have had much better Greek food elsewhere
Hi Mark! We do apologize that we weren't able to fulfill your Greek needs! Unfortunately sharing one hot meal with a group of 5 isn't recommended even with a 3 appetizers ordered. For a better experience we suggest everyone enjoys at least 1 meal per person or at least 3 full meals to share amongst a group of 5. We do thank you for trying Helios! Opa!
One diner had chicken souvlakia that was over cooked. Another faved about Greek salad and gyro. I had lamb chops that were just good. Vegetables, rice and potatoes were amazing. Lots of leftovers to go.
Hi Carole. If there are any issues you should immediately let our server know so we can rectify any issues you may come across. Thanks for trying Helios and hope you got through all of those leftovers! Opa!
Small restaurant, simply decorated and authentic Greek music in the background. Server was very friendly, great menu choices. Food was excellent and large portions! We were a party of four and three of us had Greek dishes the fourth had their Fettuccine Alfredo and all the dishes were pleasing to the eye and tasted great. If you want some excellent Greek food try Helios, you won’t be disappointed!
Thank you for the review Colette! We hope to server you again!
The house white blend( Chardonnay/ Sauvignon blanc) was excellent!.. I found the chicken souvlakia rather tough and lacking flavour.. the baklava was delicious.. the prices are pretty high for a casual restaurant
Hi Jorge! If you have any issues with your meal please let our servers know so they may rectify the issue. As for our prices, they are quite competitive especially with amount of quality and quantity of local ingredients used in our dishes. We suggest everyone view our menu on our website to view our large wonderfully homemade dishes and reasonable prices. Thanks for trying Helios! Opa!
It’s one of my favorite places to go for lunch. Enjoyed our interaction with our waitress.
Thank you Dorie! We hope to serve you again!
The waitress was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Thanks!
All was good my wife was a little disappointed that you didn't have any chicken parmagiania
Hi Lynn. Our menu changes throughout the year. Keep updated of our ever changing menu on our website! Thank you for the review!
Nice ambiance and service. Food was okay, but the chicken in our Gyros was bland. We feel it is much tastier at another Greek restaurant in town. We didn’t do it, but wondered how a $4.50 charge to upgrade to a traditional Greek salad could be worth it. That seems excessive, but perhaps another reviewer can comment.
A Horiatiki salad doesn't have any lettuce. It consists of a cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, capers, peppers, and imported Greek kalamata olives, & authentic extra virgin Greek olive oil. Next time feel free to ask our server if you have any questions. They'll be happy to answer!
Awesome little restaurant. Great service, great food, lots of food, good price. Definitely recommend you go check it out
Thanks for the recommendation!
The food is always excellent!
We're glad you always enjoy our meals!
Food was amazing! Will definitely have again, either eat in or skip the dishes!
Thank you for dining with us and look forward to serving you again!
Came for a business lunch. Quiet and attentive service. Food portions are amazing. Hands down my new favourite Greek restaurant in Winnipeg.
Thank you for dining with us! We look forward to your next visit!
The waitress was very sweet and helpful but somehow you get the idea you are in a converted Mr. Lube. There was little ambience and didn’t feel cozy or intimate compared to most restaurants we’ve been to. The drinks were good and the beer was cold. However, I was most excited about the Greek salad and it was disappointing! There was so much rusty lettuce and some pieces were actually dripping with it. Other than that, it was tasty but you had to be very careful what you ate. My friend and I had the mixed souvlaki, one chicken and one pork skewer. I was really looking forward to the pork as I found the chicken quite dry. The pork had a very weird taste to both my friend and I and we both thought the pork had turned bad. After quite awhile, we were able to get the waitresses attention and after some explanation, we sent it back and they replaced it with another chicken skewer. Of course by then, we were too full. The Greek potatoes were very good and the portions of the potatoes and rice were huge, and both came with entrees. My husband had the chicken souvlakia and is normally a big eater but could only finish one skewer as he ate all the starches. My friend’s husband had the meat sauce lasagna and it was made fresh in a huge portion. He said it was delicious!
Also, it closed at 8 pm on a Thursday and we felt that we were keeping the staff there. Unfortunately with all the amazing restaurants in WINNIPEG, we won’t be going back to Helios.
We are open 11am-9pm 7 days a week including all holidays & on our preferred delivery service Skip The Dishes. We we're happy to replace your 2 skewers immediately as you were not fond of our tenderloin marinade. Our salads are made fresh daily & as for "dripping rust?", we use authentic Kalamata extra virgin olive oil & red wine vinegar which may differ from other creamy "Kraft"-ed dressings. We wish you would have pointed out any issues during your dinner. Thank you for your patronage.
Been to the restaurant 4 or 5 times always bringing a new friend. Have never been disappointed, great food, quiet surroundings........really nice !!
Thank you for your continued patronage and look forward to serving you again! OPA!
Very good food, portions are too large though. Didn't care for their Helios Long Island as it tasted of Ouzo and that just seems wrong.
Thank you for the review and hope to serve you again!
We enjoy this neighbourhood gem very much - very good food, great price, & service is fast & friendly
Thank you for the review! We're glad you enjoyed your evening at Helios! OPA!
Good location. Easy access. Friendly and very helpful staff. Great food. It's like being in Athens all over again.
Thank you for review! We strive to bring a touch of Greece to Winnipeg! OPA!
