Helen in The Heights
Tuesday-Thursday 11 AM-10 PM
Friday and Saturday 11 AM-11 PM
Sunday 11 AM-9 PM
This was our first visit and the food was good and service great, but thought it is overpriced in every category i.e. drinks, appetizers, entrees.
We had brunch on the patio and we were the only ones there for an hour and a half! Service was a bit slow for the first hour of brunch on a Sunday, but our waitress was very kind and attentive and we enjoyed it overall. EXCELLENT and EXTENSIVE Greek wine list! WOW!
Ordered five appetizers; meatballs, stuffed grape leaves, Greek salad, spanakopita, and the roasted cauliflower. Everything was delicious but the standouts were the cauliflower and the spanakopita. It was plenty of food for our table of four. The Greek Fire cocktail is particularly delicious and dangerous. I was the only one to order dessert. I ordered the phyllo with custard and it was wonderful. Light and flavorful. Definitely will return. Also, our waitress, Sydney, was great.
Service was great waiter wentbout if his way to recommend delicuous plates and desserts.
We all enjoyed our experience there, but each one of us (there were 4 of us) woke up with terrible stomach aches in the middle of the night!
Impeccable Service every time we go. Friendly and service oriented. Food has great presentation and taste is what we are constantly telling others about. Sommelier is personable and wants you to love your wine. Just awesome.
Loved it! Celebrated a birthday with friends; no one at Helen acknowledged the celebration, although it was noted when making our reservation. Nevertheless, a fun and special evening. The appetizers, entrees (especially the roasted cauliflower), and desserts were outstanding, as was the service. The sommelier was amazing — lots of fun, and extremely knowledgeable about the all Greek wine list. We really loved hearing about and trying 5 different wines before each of us made a selection. All wines are available by the glass, and are reasonably priced. Our waitress was also great; really energetic and fun. We will return!
Distinctively different food. Well done.
Food was OK....good salad, broken pasta was good, deserts were so-so....be careful ordering wine here...I don't drink wine, but my guest had 2 glasses per servers recommendation, guess should of ask price but thought it would be the normal $10-12.00/glass cost.....bill for 2 glasses of wine was $44.00....made the mistake once, won't make a second by going back to Helen in the Heights.
Great happy hour. $25 bottle of wine is a must along with the trio of dips. Eric is the best and will take great care of you.
The service was excellent. The food was excellent. No complaints whatsoever.
The food was excellent! Great place to eat dinner with friends and catch up. Serving staff was top drawer offering great recommendations on food, cocktails, and wine. Will definitely visit again!!
Great staff and excellent Greek wines
Absolutely delicious, a little loud but the food made up for it. The best meatballs I've ever had, the octopus was delicious and the staff was attentive and friendly. Everything from the starters to the entrees was exceptionally good. Would definitely go again, and recommend to a friend!
My first time at Helen's but not my last. My friends brought me here because they had been here before.
It was our second visit to Helen's! We totally enjoy the food, the atmosphere and the service. It won't be long before we return!! Keep up the great work!
Great food, friendly service! Definitely will be back!
The food was not that great, hence my rating of 3. Two of us did the Houston Restaurant week menu and they were out of the best dessert listed! ( this was at 6:30 on a Sun.) The mousakka was mediocre, more of a chili than a mousakka. My friend ordered the pasta and it was extremely salty. The ambiance is nice and the server was pleasant, but for the value and quality of the food, we would not come back.
Food was very good. Best gyros I’ve ever had. Interesting Greek wine selection.
But it is VERY noisy.
Consistently friendly staff. Food is delicious. Great customer service! Thank you for bringing back the roasted cailiflower!
The service here was outstanding. We originally sat in the back of the restaurant and it was extremely loud. Once a table was available we moved. This is one of my favorite places in the Heights, it's absolutely delicious, there is a good energy, and the prices are not outrageous. This place provides true value for your money and the whole experience is wonderful. We can't wait to go back!
IT WAS INCREDIBLE LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED IT
The octopus was delicious. Waitress was knowledgeable as as adorable!
So disappointed. The American gyro I ordered was mushy. I pointed it out to my waiter, who told me it was probably the moisture from the tomatoes. I should have been more assertive and asked for a new plate with the gyro deconstructed. I failed to ask and the waiter failed to offer.
We went expecting authentic Greek cuisine and we were very disappointed. Baked feta? Moussaka with potatoes and no spinach? Chocolate Baklava? There were no alternatives to the feta (just fresh with no heating would’ve been fine) or the Baklava (who puts chocolate in Baklava?) . Even the olives were not up to par. We won’t be back.
It was our first time to visit and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The new cheese course was fantastic! The service was tremendous!
Please bring back the roasted cauliflower!!!!
Our server was great. She’s short with shoulder length black hair great smile. Wonderful waitress. She’s waited on me on numerous occasions.
Excellent food. Waiter helped us decide on an excellent Greek wine. A little crowded, but fun if you can take the non-privacy...so not very romantic. We had a great time and will definitely come back.
We went to Helen in the Heights a couple of months ago and it was outstanding, we went last Saturday night and the food was mediocre at best, we ordered the catch of the day and what we got was a soggy piece of fish, the sides were just okay, and they were definitely trying to turn the tables. The manager did stop by to ask about our food and we told him it was disappointing and he gave us his card and told us to ask for him next time, not sure if there will be a next time... so bummed.
I love Helen's for their service, food and ambiance - a friendly, delicious peaceful experience where I take my houseguests.
Our first visit to Helen. Our food was very delicious. We loved the baked feta, chilled pea soup and Cos Salad. The soup was surprisingly a little spicy but still good.
Ordered drinks at the bar since we showed up early for our reservation. Drinks were on point and pretty tasty. Sat for a few minutes and our table was ready. Service was good. We had a bartender as our waiter. He was pretty busy and said the specials pretty fast. Didn’t quite hear him. He must have been moving a lot because he was sweating quite a bit. Requested our apps to come out as they were made. I also got the lamb shank which was one of the best I’ve ever had. One app came out about 40 minutes into our meal when we were just finishing up. Not a big deal. Had a cup of espresso as well and it was good. Prices were very reasonable and ambiance was awesome. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.
Our first visit to this location in The Heights, but we've been to other location in the Rice Village area several times and in each case really enjoy the food selection, knowledge of the waitstaff and the wine selections.
Good food, wine service not great
Fantastic service. Sommelier made it lots of fun!
We were there at a very quiet time - Sunday afternoon. The service was just right for our small birthday party.
This has become our favorite place to go. Staff are friendly, food is fabulous - miss the roasted cauliflower! -- cozy, neighborly.
I thought the food was terrific but pretty highly priced. If we had realized how generous the portions were we would have shared more items. The service was great!
Helen did not disappoint. The ambiance and decor was great, service was personal, and everything we tasted was delicious. From appetizers, to main course, to dessert....all were full of flavor and amazing. We will be back!
