Good food, great wine, excellent service. Helen Rocks!
Our server was impolite and had poor knowledge of the menu when we asked him questions. It caused an unsettling atmosphere for our table. The manager took our appetizer order because our server didn’t check on us for an extended period of time.
The food and ambiance was lovely, but our server really compromised the comfort of our dining experience.
I went here recently with my parents and in-laws who were visiting from out of town. We came in for lunch and there were only two other tables sat, which seemed a bit concerning. The service was good, as was the food overall. My father in law ordered a gyro, which was so dry he could barely eat it. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food. Note that the portions are inconsistent. My mother and I ordered the spanokopita (spinach pie) which came out on a small plate by itself (and the portion isn't particularly large considering it is served a la carte). However, the other two entrees which were wraps/sandwiches had a large plate filled with fries and possibly some greens. It was a good thing we ordered sides for the table (which were also small) because my mother and I would've definitely still been hungry otherwise. I was surprised the server did not provide us with any tips/suggestions or guide us as we were ordering. It certainly would've been helpful had we known what to expect. Otherwise, it's easy to feel disappointed when your food comes out and there's barely anything in front of you. Overall, it was good, but not anything particularly special. With all the great restaurants in Houston I don't think I would go back.
We had about 6 items off the menu and shared with friends. Everything was amazing.
My mother-in-law was visiting last weekend and we are so glad we decided to take her to Helens! She has already said the next time she comes into town she wants to visit Helens again. We loved the brussel sprout salad and spicy meatballs for starters. The gyro platter was the perfect entree for the 3 of us to share along with the orzo and greens :)! Can't wait to visit again soon!
Excellent food, great service
The location here in the Heights is a beautiful space, free easy parking, and they take reservations. Worth the trip away from the Village location. The food is just delicious and I enjoy lunch here very much. The trio of dips is a great starter and a must. I love the fennel citrus salad as a small plate to share. It has a wonderful combo of flavors, sweet from the orange, salty from olives. So pretty and fresh. Sharing any of the other small plates, with this salad and the dips, is ample lunch fare for two people. We had the greens and cheese pie. Just delicious! It's a great place and different from the usual.
The food was oily and overpriced - won't be back!
Well worth the visit!
Excellent staff and cuisine.
We had the best meal! Feta appetizer. Grilled octopus, cauliflower steak. Everything was amazing! Our cocktails were delicious. The bottle of wine was perfect. Couldn’t have asked for a better meal to share with a friend on Friday evening!!!
