I cannot say enough good things about our experience at Heirloom Kitchen. We were celebrating our anniversary and everywhere seemed to know this. They came up to our table and offered congratulations. How nice is that!! The food was fantastic and the ambiance was so enjoyable. The music that was being played was all of my favorite songs. Once again I will say it, How nice is that! All in all a very memorable evening and we will definitely be back. Hard to get a reservation so call weeks ahead but definitely worth it!
We loved Heirloom Kitchen the first time we came here and wondered if it would be as good on a return visit. It surpassed our expectations! The food, service, ambiance were all excellent. This definitely is among the best restaurants in the area. While it's not fancy, the atmosphere is homey and inviting. The food is creative and wonderful. And, last but by no means least, the servers go above and beyond. We will definitely be back (if we can get a reservation).
Second time here. First visit the food was better. Pork belly appetizer was fantastic as was chicken liver mousse. However our entrees were not up to par. Also told the restaurant we were celebrating 91st birthday and they said they would make it special and that didn’t happen except for a candle in the dessert. I was told before dinner they would sing happy birthday. 91 is special and I was disappointed.
Everything was great as expected! The only problem we had was the steak was cooked medium rare for my other when she asked for it to be medium or at least pink and it was very clearly red. Otherwise, no complaints, everything was delicious and the staff was friendly! Will be back again!
Ambiance at this restaurant is great. Everything is thought through from utensils, plates, wine glasses to every little detail-greatly appreciated!! Outstanding dining experience! See you soon!!
The taste of the food was phenomenal and I would go back again and pay the ridiculous prices in a heartbeat. We had two apps. Mussels and Porkbelly. Both were like nothing we ever tased and delicious. The Porkbelly was out of this world. Wife had the duck and I had the $40 Strip Steak. Both were very good but worth $40? Maybe if my steak was hot. Like a previous complaint, the temperature of my entree was luke warm at best.
The restaurant was not crowded at all but the service was not good. I had to call over the waiter/waitress every time we wanted something. They were knowledgeable about the food but overall, the service was below average.
The wait times after ordering was pretty long. Probably about 30 minutes to get the apps and another 45-60 minutes for the entree. The food was delicious so I figured perfection takes time.
Overall the food was delicious and different and I would pay to go again but the service should be improved in he dining room area. The people who sat around the cooking area were waited on like royalty. Next time I will sit there.
If you are looking for a tasty cuisine at a fairly high price, this place should work. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and provided some nice background on the establishment. The bread and appetizer were very good. However, something happened to our entree order. It did not arrive until over 80 minutes after it was placed. No explanation was ever given, although they did provide two complimentary drinks; again, without any explanation. Once the entrees did arrive, one was not prepared as discussed with our server. By this point, we were about ready to leave. We did have a dessert, as part of our planned date. Overall, it could have been a better experience.
Interesting venue that I would try again. My wife's tuna was apparently spectacular. My strip steak was good, but was served a bit luke-warm, not hot, which was a bit disappointing.
Dessert was good but-- the coffee is served so freaking hot that the cream curdles. They really need to fix that. I never have that issue at home.
Overall it's an interesting outing to try.
Some caveats -- It's sort of BYOB but they do have a brand of wine in house that's pretty good.
They actually charge for bread! What? It's good but-- really? Plan on being there for a while. There's plenty of staff, but the food takes some time to get to you.
Don't miss the pork belly appetizer, it is amazing.
Our experience was exceptional. Indescribably good food. Beautiful room. Our server Steve was gracious, engaging, warm, attentive and knowledgeable. Our “assistant” server Lauren work seamlessly with Steve and couldn’t have been nicer. We really look forward to our next visit and recommend Heirloom Kitchen without qualification.

The food was great but it took 1 hour to get our entrees after we finished our appetizers,
They were very apologetic but it still got pretty annoying.
This was listed as an excellent restaurant by many sites and is also a James Beard Nominated destination. I booked months in advance as they are only open on the wknd for dining and is a cooking school during the week. My party of 4 all felt that it was overpriced, loud and low wooden chairs were terribly Uncomfortable. My Octopus appy and Fluke/Scallop taste was very good and cleverly designed on the plate but lukewarm at best. - 2 of my guests had cold Veal chops and sides, which required refire. The service was excellent and they did go out of their way to try and please us as well as comped coffee and desserts. However I feel its not enough to recommend for the cost- it should be outstanding in all categories.
The food was excellent, good music & a very attentive, friendly staff.

Outstanding. Highest recommendation. Creative menu with attentive service in a relaxed atmosphere. It is easy to see why Chef David Viana earned a James Beard Award nomination for his artistry. We ordered the octopus appetizer: amazing. Also the scallop and fluke entrée and the signature duck breast entrée. Both top notch. Interesting desserts. And Neilly Robinson's home crafted sourdough bread is a must have. We eagerly await our next visit.

It's excellent to have a top shelf restaurant and cooking school like this here in Old Bridge (with a James Beard semi finalist chef nomination). Attention to detail is a top priority with a focus on high quality food, some locally grown, and creative presentations and pairings. My husband and I went for our Anniversary dinner. We did not sit at the chef table but we could see from our table facing it, it looked like a fun and interactive experience. We had one of the last seating times so we were not rushed at all. It was a relaxed and inviting environment.The menu changes seasonally, and sometimes weekly, but you can review it on their website before making a reservation. You will see dishes with ingredients and pairings that you may not think you'd like but trust that the chef knows what he's doing and you will not be disappointed. The staff is helpful and helped us pick out a good red wine to go with what we ordered. They are a BYOB but they are also a showroom for the Domenico Winery; reasonably priced. You'll have to pay for the Heirloom bread, but it's baked on premises daily and is delicious. It was so good we ordered two plates.The fresh beet salad was a little on the small side, but excellent. We both ordered the pork dish and it was very good - butcher quality meat that you will not find in a local supermarket. Everything here is presented using the finest quality ingredients and aiming for an elevated dining experience. Some say it's slightly pricy but for the quality of food you're getting, it's really not. Highly recommended.
Repeat visit and always incredibly impressed with the menu and food. Chef is always serving up beautiful food that is absolutely delicious. You can come here and feel good about the food you are eating, vendors they source, and the establishment. Wait staff is always incredible attentive and friendly. Best part is the open kitchen where you can watch the food prepared right in front of you! I'd highly recommend Heirloom Kitchen and look forward to when I have the opportunity to share this restaurant with a friend as they are always impressed and we walk away feeling fat and happy. Glad to have some stand-up food in central NJ. Thanks for another great meal.

We were lucky enough to get a last minute reservation on a Saturday night. We heard great things about this restaurant and have been trying to get a reservation for awhile. It was definitely worth all the hype! The food was amazing and flavors were unique and incredible. The service and staff were great and very friendly and made you feel right at home. We had a wonderful dinning experience! Can’t wait to go back!
This was our first visit to Heirloom Kitchen, we were very excited and read a lot about it. We had reservations and were seated quickly but from there the timing of our meal was horrific. I asked to be seated at the Bar as the small table we were sitting at was quite uncomfortable for my husband who is very tall. The hostess said that they were booked so we stayed at the original table. Which was fine.
Our meal from start to finish took over 2 hours. The food was delicious (we had the octopus and pork belly) - both were amazing. But we then waited about 70 minutes for our entrees to arrive. No acknowledgement from the staff until the waitress came by and asked “are you hanging in there?” - it was so long- The seats were uncomfortable and by the time we got our entrees we were ready to leave. We had the lamb and the duck. Once it finally arrived - she said the duck “takes a while” - wow, really?
The food was really good- but I don’t think I will return based on the overall experience, wait time, and general environment of the space. (It’s also quite loud in there)
The Pennsylvania Dutch chicken I had was very good But the real treat of the meal was the Japanese cheesecake for dessert which was fantastic Heirloom kitchen is not only a great restaurant on Friday thru Sunday but also has wonderful cooking classes during the week

An absolute gem of a restaurant! It’s a hidden treasure in Old Bridge. Get a seat at the high top and enjoy the chef show. It’s awesome to watch the talent that’s usually behind the scenes. If you’re a foodie, you gotta go. The selections are outstanding & just over the top. Glad to not have to trek to NYC to get such a high caliper meal. The pork belly for appetizer will awaken your taste buds to a mouthful of flavors . Duck breast for my entree was just perfectly done. Dessert was a piece of art. These young chefs are amazing. Just go. You won’t regret it. Definitely will be back. Thank you for making our anniversary very memorable!
Sourdough bread was great. My wife had the Tuna Crudo Nicole’s and I had the Pork Belly and both were also great. We both had the NY Strip steak and it was excellent.
Heirloom kitchen is not just dining, it's an experience to be savored.
The reservation was on a Friday night during Lent, so I had to order a meatless dish. I had the fluke and scallops, while my husband, the agnostic, got to order the lamb bolognese. We loved what we ordered- both dishes were so delicious. This was our third visit and we are looking forward to our next dinner there in April, when we will be bringing our close friends. Call for reservations a month or two (if you want a Friday or Saturday) in advance. Also, it was a big anniversary weekend for us and they acknowledged the event with a lovely dessert and good wishes from all the staff. The food -- every course at every visit— has always been outstanding.
Our only complaint is the lack of kitchen ventilation. When we get home everything we had on goes in the wash because it reeks of cooking grease. Oh, and the ambient music got loud. It was a bit hard to carry on a conversation.
Neither will keep us from returning.
Very nice setting; tastefully decorated. The service was very attentive and polite. Food was pricey, but creative and delicious, so it was worth it. Would recommend.
Had a great dinner here. Got the duck, it was explained to me that the chef has a special technique to cook it. I have never been a huge fan of duck but this restaurant changed my mind about it, the meat was tender, succulent and tasty. My meal was truly special and delicious. Heirloom Kitchen is only around one hour from New York City, if you don't mind driving a bit is well worth a visit.
This place is an absolute rare find! Chef David Viana is truly a culinary genius with every plating more delicate than the last. With the ingredients, technique, service and passion all in perfect symphony... the meal was insane! If you don’t try the duck... you’ll literally miss one of the most amazing meals of your life!
When we want quality food we usually drive an hour into the city... this jewel of Central NJ is off the beaten path and we literally tripped over it accidentally. I’m not a food critic but I do know talent when I see it... this staff is going places! Thank you for the first in many amazing experiences with your family!
Decided to go to Heirloom Kitchen when I saw that Chef David was in the running for a James Beard award. After reading numerous reviews on Heirloom, I was really anticipating dinner as every review was 5 stars. Well, Heirloom Kitchen did not disappoint. In fact, 5 stars don't do it justice. From the restaurant ambiance to the wait staff to the food, everything was top notch and exceeded my already elevated expectations. We split 2 appetizers (octopus and pork belly) and 1 entree (duck breast) along with a side of carrots. I understand that the restaurant changes their menu with some frequency so I would run there as quickly as possible. The pork belly is sinfully good. If you like bacon, this will be by far the best piece of "bacon" you will have ever eaten. And if you don't like bacon, try the pork belly at Heirloom Kitchen and be converted. I don't want to short change the octopus either. Perfectly cooked, tender as can be with a fantastic mole sauce. Now to move on to the star of the show.......the duck breast.......seared to perfection to get that crispy skin, the way a duck breast should be cooked. Chef David and his staff take their time to meticulously prepare every aspect of each dish, whether it is treating a duck breast with the respect it deserves or placing the garnishes on each dish just right. And if you aren't sold just yet, when Chef David asked how everything was, after saying we could not have enjoyed our dinner any more, I jokingly said "if you have an extra duck breast laying around, send it my way". Much to my surprise, before we left, Chef David sent a to go box with a 1/2 of a duck breast over to our seats. And it wasn't just a slab of duck breast but expertly plated, the same way it was when we ordered it for dinner. This showed the pride that the chef and his team take in preparing all food that leaves the kitchen, even if it ends up in a to go box. We will be back soon, and for my sake, I hope the duck is still on the menu.
We were very happy with the food, service and ambiance of this farm to table byob restaurant/cooking school.
