Hedge Row- Indianapolis
The service was excellent & our waiter Christopher was very friendly, helpful, & knowledgeable. The atmosphere was vibrant but not too noisy.
Great for everyday dining with friends! Great cocktails!
Waiter was very friendly and attentive, food arrived quickly, and was delicious. The tuna ceviche and beet appetizers were large enough to share. Then we had the mushroom sandwich and shared a chicken and kale salad. Sandwich was wonderful and salad good but not real flavorful. Overall wonderful meal!!!
In town to visit our daughter and went Thursday night for dinner. She likes it because there are vegetarian choices. Everything tasted freshly made and we liked the creative menu. We enjoyed it so much we came back for brunch on Saturday. It’s really great they accept reservations though we didn’t need them for brunch.
It was OK, but no more. The food was good but everything was overpriced and the quantities (for the entrees) were small. An $18 hamburger that was probably worth about $12, and $8 for a bottle of Belgian beer that you can buy locally for $9 for a six-pack. The place doesn’t really seem to know what it wants to be.
Definitely a unique dining experience. Our server, Whitney, was the best! Food was served hot & timely and freshly prepared. Between two of us, we shared 4 smalls and 1 large meal and we were both satisfied, but not overly full. The hushpuppies were flavorful, pork skewers were accompanied with sultry salsas, the tuna ceviche was unique with great texture, and my husband devoured his hummus plate. As a main course, we shared the mole braised short rib. The mole takes 36 days to make, and the short runs marinate for 3 days before being cooked ever so slowly. The meat is like nothing I've ever tasted before and melts in your mouth. The mole sauce is complex and perfectly complements the dish. I can't say enough good things... we will be back!
Sat in the cozy bar area for a pre-concert dinner. Very creative menu options, very friendly staff. Had hush puppies, short ribs and salmon- all were excellent.
My only slight complaint would be the Smokey cooking smell. My clothes even smelled when I got home. But it was tolerable after being in the restaurant for a while. Had a nice leisurely, tasty lunch with friends.
Great food and service. Loved the nois level as we could talk comfortably without shouting at each other
We were greeted, and immediately seated with a reservation. Space inside the restaurant was cramped, but had a server at our table once seated taking our drink order. Once we received our drinks, which was probably a shot worth of liquor (over priced for the amount), our appetizer order was placed & immediately served within 2 minutes after placing that order, plus it was over cooked. We placed our dinner order, & our meals were served extremely fast (10 minutes). Food was good, but for the amount of food we received it was again...over priced. We’re glad we tried it, but we can get better quantity and quality of food just up the street.
The food and service were good. It was very noisy though so trying to have conversation was difficult.
First time there, everything was great; food, service. The manager comped the whole meal because we were celebrating a friend being cancer free in his last scan. I thought that was very nice and generous. We will definitely be going back.
Overall, had a great time with my friends here for a good brunch. Server was very nice to accommodate our Request for alternations for certain dishes and helped take group photo. The cook of the eggs was worth mentioning. No matter fried or poached, yolks are running with cooked whites, which I absolutely love. Otherwise, dishes are well seasoned and plated. Only minor thing, latte didn’t have expected artworks on the top but no blame since it’s not the specialty of this place anyways. Recommended to others.
Everything was great! Flavors were great and drinks were perfect!
It was absolutely wonderful great atmosphere and service was outstanding
Great experiences at Hedge Row. The food was fantastic, we ordered the cheese board that was on special along with the roasted beets and French fries to start. My husband is vegan and was easily accommodated, they put creamy sauces on the side for things we shared so he was able to eat them too. Drinks were great and we really appreciated the 2 “zero proof” cocktails on the menu for our non alcohol drinker! Service was really good and the restaurant is beautiful. We went on a Wednesday at 6:30 and were the only table seated in the bar. We were more than happy to not be seated in the dining room where there seemed to be more people/noise.
Great service. Meals were excellent. Dessert was meh
Chris was an amazing waiter! Best experience we’ve had in a long time. Would recommend to any friend in the future.
We had a 6:15 pm reservation on a Saturday. Perfect timing! Got very busy shortly after we arrived while we were seated immediately.
Small plates (3 for 4 of us), 2 large plates and 2 side veggies was more than enough. The variety was so much fun and each dish was fantastic! Our very very favorites: shrimp hush puppies, pasta bolognese and short ribs. Along with a fantastic Pinot Noir it was incredible.
Finished off with butterscotch pot de creme and a lemon curd/blueberry/ meringue desserts. WOW!! We will be back... with everyone we know.
Good food, but not very unique. Slightly overpriced.
Hedge Row is a great space with comfortable surroundings, good food and updated decor. This is a great space to meet with family, friends or business contacts. Food is well seasoned and presented in attractive portions and plates. Good flavors and a well-rounded menu providing food for everyone in complex dieting times.
Food was excellent, as was the service. I just thought it was a little pricey.
Wonderful night out with great service, food, and drinks. We loved the chicken and our server Chris.
I loved it. Wanted to meet my adult son for his birthday and he picked Hedge Row. We loved it. The food was great. Our service was great and very helpful when it came to recommending our order. I also thought my steak was excellent. It was truly an delicious surprise and I can't wait to go back.
Great food and service, we’ll be back. Highly recommend brunch
Absolutely delicious food, and wonderful service. We thought the music was a little loud, although it was good!
Nice downtown eatery with locally sourced options. Took my daughter and mom out before catching a show at the IRT. Service was great, and food was all delicious.
Great meal. The restaurant was busy but not too busy, even for Friday night. We had a few small plates that were awesome. The meatballs and carrots were really good. The bbq was alright and the broccoli was odd. They also offered a filet special that was wonderful. I would go back just for that. The deserts were very unique and difficult to pick. They were very elaborate and nothing I had seen before. My wife had a huckleberry mess that had something like astronaut ice cream with lemon and berries. Hard to describe. Add a couple glasses of wine and it was a very nice night out.
We tried this restaurant based off positive reviews read. We booked reservations and we're glad we did as the restaurant area was full. In general, we were shocked by the very load music level. It was so loud everyone was shouting at each other and I still could not hear over the music. It was so loud I could not understand the waitress standing 2' away giving specials. It's too bad cause the food was quite good. I recommend other places if you like to converse with others in your party.
Excellent restaurant. Always a great experience
I’ve had brunch here three times and one dinner to confirm this is my new favorite Indy restaurant. The food simply tastes good and the dishes are well put together. The room is well designed and comfortable. I highly recommend Hedge Row.
Nice restaurant and really good food but way over priced. $27 for salmon and it has no sides....so you end up spending another$10 to $15 in sides. I believe the price was ok if it included sides.....there are better restaurants with better prices and better value.....for that reason we will not go back.
Service was excellent. Food was good, but over priced. Atmosphere was really, really loud, could barely hear each other speak.
Hedge Row has a nice atmosphere, everything was good, but nothing was outstanding. Service was spotty in the bar seating area and we felt rushed to place our orders.
It’s was our 36th wedding anniversary and valentines dinner. I had informed the restaurant of the special occasion but nothing special was said or provided. We arrived at 4:45 and the restaurant was empty. We were sit at the small table ( I am a big guy) and we asked to be moved but the manager denied the request. The place was empty. By the time we left it was filling up.
Elen was fantastic, positive every good at her job.
The food. 5 outstanding 1 yuk.
Fish Tacos 5
Brussel Sprouts 5
You can always count on Hedge Row for great casual dining!
Excellent experience and fantastic food. We will definitely return.
We had a wonderful evening with friends and everyone enjoyed their meal. Our waiter Chris was outstanding!
Third time we have been . First two times the waiter went though the menu , gave us a sense of what was on the menu , what was good , some personal opinions etc ... very good .
This time waitress just came up and asked if we ready to order , no introduction , no how you folks doing , no asking if we had been there before , no description of any of the menu items etc ..
she was efficient and did her job well but there was zero interaction with us .
I asked to sample one of the beers and was given such a tiny sample , it wasn’t really with asking for it . It was clear we were spending , based on what we ordered , so felt they could have been a bit more thoughtful with that .
Good was good and tasty but we wished we had the waiter that was serving the table next to us .
It’s not just about the food , it’s the whole experience that makes a great meal .
I don't often feel the need to leave reviews for places that I have dined at, but Hedge Row was worth a few minutes of my time. The aroma of the wood fired brick oven invites you into the front reception area, dimly lit with a very interesting slatted wood ceiling. The bar area with high top tables on the right is a cozy nook with the main dining area and standard tables to the left. The real enjoyment starts when they bring the food, delicately prepared and locally sourced, these dishes are carefully thought out to work nicely with the aromas and subtle smoky flavors achieved from being fire roasted. Not all dishes are fire roasted, however, but I do recommend you try at least a few of them. House wines, great service, and excellent desserts all add to the experience. If you're in town, check this place out, you won't be disappointed.
